Alpha’s Virgin Pup

If there’s one thing that werewolves hate...its unrequited love.

I’m Bobby Roy. Pitiful Omega. Loyal member of the Puppyville Pack. I’ve pined, longed, and waited for my gorgeous pack alpha for years. But every wolf knows Brick Rogers can’t be tamed. Brick is the kind of wolf who sees and takes without asking.

What’s even worse? Brick doesn’t even know I exist.

There’s only one way to get Brick’s attention, even if that means auctioning off my virgin body for one wild and unforgettable night.

Chapter One

“N
ext up the block is a fine, hard-bodied and thoroughly greased specimen,” the auctioneer announces. “So say hello to Paul, folks!”

Seeing my pack mate Paul walk up the outdoor stage, confident and certain of what he had to offer to bidders, I gulp. He struts his stuff, runs a teasing hand down his oiled, tanned pectorals, flat belly and finally, the jutting package between his legs encased in sexy briefs. Paul even poses, like he’s being photographed for a men’s fashion magazine. The nerve.

“Want some of this?” Paul Danes gives the crowd a cocky-eyed look, and they go wild even though he sounds like a porn actor reading off his lines.

I don’t blame him. Paul is just doing his part for charity.

I swear it’s true. Once a year, the Puppyville Pack holds a charity auction at the beach. The event is open to both the human and supernatural townsfolk of Puppyville—a remote, charming little town with a population of five thousand. All proceeds go to various charity organizations in town. Think of it as good PR, a way to cement our relationship with humans.

“Paul, I love you!” someone from the crowd squeals.

“Be mine, handsome!”

I roll my eyes. Paul embodies the stereotypical werewolf model in movies and books. He’s over six-feet tall, packed with muscle, and basically... a walking temptation. Don’t let Paul fool you. Not all werewolves are unfairly attractive or automatically gain muscle. That’s all hard work and I know for a fact a couple of our pack enforcers are regulars at the gym. Paul’s the few, and I’m the many.

“Bobby, you’re up, and for crying out loud, take off that towel,” Blue, another pack member and friend, mutters.

He’s carrying a clipboard, ticking off the names of volunteers who agreed to be auctioned off. I’m starting to question why I agreed to this in the first place. I’m tall, skinny, possess average looks, and basically, I have nothing much to offer. Hell, if I weren’t a werewolf, no one would take a second glance at me on the street.

Out here in the beach, I can feel the heat of the summer sun. Practically everyone’s getting a tan, except me. I’m still as pale as an uncooked pastry. I dig my toes into the sand. My heart’s thumping painfully. It’s difficult to breathe and I tug the towel around me.

“Blue, I think I’m having a stroke,” I whisper.

Blue frowns, grabs my shoulders and shakes me.

“Get it together, man. Remember why you’re doing this in the first place?” Blue demands.

“Yeah, well. I’m having second thoughts. I mean, look at me, Blue. I’m no one’s ideal dream boy.”

“Well, we’re peas in the same pod.” Blue sweeps a hand across his brightly colored Hawaiian shirt and loose shorts. “But I have Jaime, and you’ll get your guy too.”

The guy Blue’s referring to?

He’s Brick Rogers, Alpha of the Puppyville Pack. Like his name, our alpha’s built like a wall. Brick’s not handsome in the traditional sense. More rough and tumble than refined and pretty, but if there’s one thing everyone knows, it’s this—Brick sees what he wants, and takes without asking. That’s all dandy to me, except Brick doesn’t even know I exist.

I mean, yeah. We pass each other during pack meetings. Say the occasional ‘hello’ and ‘how’s it going’, but Brick says that to everyone. It’s as if Brick doesn’t really see me. To him, I’m just another wolf in his pack.

Can’t really blame Brick for being blind, because Blue’s right. I might be holding a torch for my alpha for years, but nothing will happen if I don’t make the first move. Brick fucks anything attractive on two legs, but I can live with that. I’m certain after I meet Brick and blow his mind away, Brick won’t be interested in anyone else. At least that’s what I hope.

“Listen, Bobby. Don’t you always say it’s better to try and fail, then never try at all?” Blue prodded.

“You should become a motivational speaker,” I say dryly, but Blue’s words are just the kind of push I need. Screw this, right? Worse comes to worst, some other guy, or girl will have me for a day, except...

Well, I’m not exactly experienced. I date, insist on going slow, but I never get to third base with my ex-boyfriends. Maybe my wolf and a part of my human half know I’m saving myself for someone. Brick. Other supernatural folks say we shifters are lucky we come in-built with radars. Radars that go haywire when our fated mate, the one individual we’ll share our bodies, hearts and souls with, finally come along.

They got it all wrong.

My wolf did go insane the moment it saw Brick, but Brick didn’t experience the same revelation. I could be wrong. Maybe Brick isn’t my mate, but years of waiting and pining taught me I wouldn’t be surrendering my virginity to any other wolf but my alpha.

I take deep breaths. “Okay, Blue. I’m ready.”

Blue grins, and before I can unravel what kind of evil plot he’s thinking of, he jerks me up to my feet and rips the towel off my shoulders. Someone whistles. A few even stare.

“Nice ass, Bobby!”

My face begins to turn red. The kinky little leather g-string is the reason I refuse to part with the towel.

“Hey,” Blue grabs my bare shoulders, and I look at my friend. His confidence in me blows me away. “Don’t think about those assholes, or everyone else in the crowd. Just look at Brick. All eyes on the goal.”

I nod, and Blue shoves me up the wooden stage.

“Next is a newcomer to our annual auction. He’s a little shy, so put your hands together for our redheaded pup, Bobby!”

By some miracle, I somehow manage to walk up to the auctioneer. The sea of faces is overwhelming. I’m terrified of ‘boos’, rejections, maybe even some hotdog tossing. Except I remember my goal. My gaze latches onto the person sitting in the front row. Brick is in deep conversation with our pack beta, Rover. I pose, feeling awkward as the auctioneer rattles off my fine qualities. Lies to make a killing profit off mediocre merchandise.

To my utter shock, people start bidding. The numbers aren’t as high as the others, but I become overwhelmed by the interest.

“Anything you want to say to the crowd, Bobby?”

Did I? Brick’s still arguing with Rover, and he doesn’t look up at the stage. Not even once, and that kind of pisses me off. I mean, here I was, tossing aside my dignity and shame, and practically offering myself to some random stranger on a platter.

But my wolf and human half didn’t want some nobody. We both wanted Brick.

I strut over to the auctioneer, Trig. He’s another wolf, massive silent type and childhood friends with Blue and Paul. Trig leans and I whisper something in his ear. He covers the microphone, and asks, “Bobby, you sure?”

With his scars and ink, Trig might remind you of a mean junkyard dog, but really? He’s a real sweetie.

“I’m sure.”

Blue must have told Trig something beforehand about my plan, because Trig nods. Something like respect appears in his gaze. Did I somehow get the big guy’s approval?

“Here’s something to sweeten the pot, folks. Bobby here tells me he’s a virgin, but he plans on giving that away today.”

The crowd actually roars and the bidding skyrockets to unbelievable amounts. The only guy that matters is Brick. It might be due to the crowd’s reaction, but the alpha finally looks up. Brick’s expression is unreadable, but his gaze pins mine. I shudder. A bolt of electricity shoots right up my chest, and my groin’s instantly rock-hard.

Good Lord.

I’m becoming aware of the heat of the sun, and the sweat rolling down my back. I can’t take my eyes off Brick and neither can he because both our spiritual wolves are awake, like they were doused by a bucket of ice water. Everything bleeds away from my vision. The world narrows down its scope to Brick and I, like nothing else matters.

I take a deep breath and think, “This is it.”

The moment I finally managed to snag Brick’s attention. Brick’s finally looking at me, and he’s not seeing me as just another pup in his doghouse. He’s leering at me like I’m something edible.

“Five thousand,” someone yells out, breaking our connection. My head snaps back to the speaker and I try my best not to cringe. It’s Harvey Wells, the huge, leather vest wearing werebear owner of Bite Me, the town’s only BDSM club. I only need one look to see Harvey’s planning on getting his money’s worth.

“Six,” Brick practically growls out, and the crowd falls silent. No one dares top the numbers and no one dares to get in the way of two supernatural movers like Brick and Harvey.

“Seven. Brick, let me have your pup. I promise to show him one hell of a good time,” Harvey yells back.

Some folks laugh, but it’s an uneasy laugh cut short by the possessive and brassy rumble that pours out of Brick’s throat. The sound is more animal than human. A shiver crawls down my spine, yet every inch of my skin is tingling with anticipation, longing to be touched by Brick’s rough and callused large hands. I want it so badly. Crave to be in Brick’s possession.

“Ten thousand and that’s my final offer,” Harvey yells.

My heart’s beating in my throat like the nervous wings of a hummingbird. Ten thousand is a ridiculous number and I know for a fact Brick can’t afford it with his garage business. I’m starting to lose faith. To accept the consequences of my reckless actions, except I don’t need to worry.

“Fifteen thousand. Fuck off, Harvey.” Brick’s gaze turns to mine, and his pupils are no longer black, but wolf yellow. I can’t tell if Brick wants to kill someone or fuck me so hard I’m sure I won’t be able to walk in the morning. “This pup is mine.”

Harvey must see the territorial look in Brick’s eyes, and feel the angry metaphysical energy pouring from Brick, or Harvey just doesn’t have the dough. The werebear tips his Stetson, acknowledging his defeat.

“All yours, alpha.”

“Sold to Brick Rogers for fifteen thousand,” Trig announces.

Chapter Two

I
can hardly believe my ears. Blue helps me down the stage.

This doesn’t feel real. I need to strategize. Plan ahead, so I won’t look like an idiot in front of Brick. Except time isn’t a luxury.

Maybe Brick likes taking unspoiled goods? The mention of my virginity certainly upped the stakes.

Don’t you dare look at me with those judgmental eyes. Think of me instead as a bride who’s been saving her V-card for her one true groom. No one but Brick hits my in-built shifter mate radar so damn hard. Brick isn’t a punch or a kick. He’s a goddamn wrecking ball, bound to collide and do serious damage.

I’m not delusional though. I know Brick doesn’t do commitments, but I’m hoping my play would pay off. Maybe, after one night, he’ll realize I’m the guy for him, or at least ask me out on a proper date. If Brick does none of those things, I’ll be left with a tattered heart.
