His face looked haunted. Her heart sank. She wanted at that very moment to run to him and hold him, give him the comfort she sensed he needed. She would have, and was about to, when he suddenly turned away from her.

He placed the iron rod he had been holding back on the hook next to the open fire. The end of the rod had a flat circular base. She wondered if that was what scarred Corbin. The thought made her blood run cold.

Yani started to turn, realizing it was best to give Corbin some space, when he called out to her.

"Yani, we will pack some food and water, there near the cooling closet are skin sacks. Fill them as much as they can hold."

She was about to ask him where they were going, but he had turned his back to her and left hurriedly out the door. Sighing, she went to the cooling closet, which was an airtight, rectangular, six-foot tall container, where perishable foods were stored. It felt cold to the touch. There must be some type of cooling mechanism keeping the closet at a frigid temperature.

She grabbed two skin sacks, and began filling them with food items and canteens of water. Yani could not get Corbin's face out of her head. He was so beautiful, yet there was such a deep sadness to him.

Is there anything about me that pleases you?
The pleading question he asked his father, stabbed her straight in the heart. Those words kept repeating themselves in her mind.

She should just find the Dreg High Chieftain and get a transport back home. However, she couldn't bring herself to do that. Her head told her to be logical, yet leaving Corbin alone just felt wrong.

He needed her.
Somehow, she knew he needed her and that it had to be her. In her culture, Zen women have a sixth sense, which awakens once their life-mates cross their path.

Was this what she felt with Corbin? The pull and attraction towards him was instantaneous from the first moment she turned to face him at the Sh'kra sex club.

Wait a minute. He kidnapped her!
What was she thinking?
Life-mate? No way! It was simple infatuation. On the other hand, maybe it was the fear of going back to Azuri to face Gor's fury. He found out about her night with Corbin. Gor's guard had followed her for Ver's sake. How stupid could she be, to assume the asshole would allow her any type of personal privacy?
She shivered remembering his violent outburst. No, she was definitely happy to be away from that bastard.

She needed to bide her time. That was it. Go along with Corbin until she could formulate some plan of escape from him and her "marriage" to the brute, Gor. She'd have to focus on not letting Corbin mess with her emotions. And she would start now!

"Yani, are you ready?"

Flutters tickled her lower belly, the moment she heard Corbin's deep voice behind her. She turned to face him. Her body hummed with tingling sensations, which she felt from the top of her head to the tips of her toes. Just looking at him brought on feelings of want, need. Her heart rate doubled. Tiny sexual pulses filled her womb, making her pussy throb.

Okay so maybe this life-mate thing is a plausible idea. Shit, how was she ever going to get out of this?
You're not.

Yani jerked the bags of food and water, cursing under her breath. "Fucking little voice in my head!"

"What?"

She snapped her head back to stare up at Corbin's face. "How did you get so close without me hearing you?"

He smiled and an adorable dimple she just newly noticed about him, adorned his left cheek.
Sweet Ver, I love his smile.

"I'm a tracker, it was my main training as a warrior, which I excelled at."

Now that made sense. Yani nodded, finally understanding, "That's how you found me so fast on Azuri."

His eyes flicked over her breasts as he nodded, absently licking his lips.

Heat rose up Yani's body straight to her face. "Uhm, so where are we going?"

He was so close to her. His body barely an inch from touching her heated skin, made her words come out breathless.

Corbin bent his head slightly and rubbed his cheek against her temple. The subtle, gentle, touch caught her by surprise. His moods changed so rapidly, as though he were two different people.

It discerned her somewhat, but she sensed Corbin tried very hard to bury his true emotions.
What had happened that he needed to protect himself so vehemently?
Yani wished she knew. If only she could get him to trust her enough to unlock his secrets.

She heard a low growl rumble from his chest, disrupting her thoughts.

He lifted his head and stared at her. "Into the desert lands, there are cave dwellings that the Morey used long ago."

She noticed a strange glow in his eyes, much like the one he had when he took her. She saw him tremble, as if he was fighting a powerful urge.

"The Morey?"

He ran his knuckles down her cheek and nodded. "One of the other three races that inhabited Yor before the Great War that destroyed them."

Yani had lost the ability to speak, standing there staring into Corbin's beautiful face. They stood, locked in each other's eyes, until he bent his head again and brushed his lips against hers.

Almost instinctually, Yani stood on her tiptoes and wrapped her arms around his neck. He deepened the kiss. His tongue gained entrance past her lips, and she eagerly accepted his flavor. Her body melted against his muscled chest. His arms tightened around her and she felt his hands grasp her ass and lift her, until her legs could wrap around his waist.

Tremulous arousal ignited a firestorm of sensations that sent numbing vibrations coursing through her. Rolling convulsions pulsed inside her sex. Yani groaned into Corbin's mouth.

She pressed her pussy against his loincloth-covered cock. The short sarong skirt she wore flopped to the side, exposing her lower region, allowing her bare flesh to touch the soft hide of his covering.

She whimpered when the hardness of his massive erection touched the sensitized flesh of her spread pussy.

Corbin broke the kiss, breathing heavily; he took a few steps forward until she felt the wall on her back. He reached between them. A moment later, his thick shaft slid between her pussy lips.

The hot feel of smooth skin, combined with the solid rigidity of his shaft, drove Yani wild. Not caring about anything but the need burning below her waist, she began to furiously rub herself on Corbin's monstrous dick.

A second later, she lay flat on her back across the wooden table. Corbin wasted no time driving his heat up her pulsing cunt. He fucked her hard and fast, cursing a string of incoherent fuck talk. Yani never had it so rough. Yet, she relished it. Loved it. Wanted more.

"Yessss Corbin, fuck me, fuck me ... oh sweet Ver ... Fuck my pussy!"

Corbin rammed into her over and over, until his body began to convulse above hers. She reached down and rubbed her clit vigorously with two fingers. The orgasm hit her seconds later.

Yani screamed.

Her pussy throbbed around Corbin's thick pole.

He lifted his head to stare down at her, his breathing still shaky.

"I'm sorry, I couldn't hold back before you–"

Yani placed a gentle hand to his cheek. "Corbin that was incredible. I loved every second of it. You have nothing to be sorry for."

His eyes flicked over her face. The expression on his face was an odd mixture of confusion, shame and gratitude. It made Yani's heart ache.
Hadn't anyone ever said a kind word to him?
She wanted to ask, when Corbin lifted off her abruptly and turned towards the door.

There were voices coming from outside that sounded as if they were getting closer to the hut. One she recognized, belonging to Corbin's father, but the other one spoke with a strange accent.

Corbin helped her up and replaced his cock-cover. He lifted a finger to his lips, motioning her to stay quiet.

Yani nodded. Corbin walked to the door and leaned into the entranceway to peak out at who had come to his father's hut. Something about his stance and reaction to the men's voices told Yani this was not a typical visit.

She had a sinking feeling in her gut. Trouble was coming their way.

CHAPTER ELEVEN

Corbin stood just inside the doorway, hiding in the shadow of the arched entrance. He watched five men approach. Four of them he knew well, the fifth he remembered from the night he took Yani.

His father and brother led, as Prince Nal of Elvin, Kaden and a very angry Gor, the Azurian heir, followed. So the royal whelp decided to follow him? Corbin could care less. Prince Nal on the other hand...

Was Nal representing Gor on the Council's behalf? It didn't bode well for Corbin if the Elvins were involving themselves in Azurian affairs. Shit!

Bringing his attention back to the party of men only two yards away from the dwelling, he listened to what they said. It proved to be more of a strain than he cared for. The Trill drug dulled the senses, while amplifying arousal and euphoric feelings. Still he focused enough to hear the conversation.

Joran motioned with his hand towards the hut. "Father let me go and speak with Corbin. Maybe the princess asked him for help ... or perhaps–"

His father's face twisted with hostility. "Enough Joran! Do not try to cover for that deviant!"

Teagan's harsh words rang in Corbin's head. Yet, Joran's reference to Yani as princess captured his attention.
Yani was a princess?

He turned to look back at the beautiful Zenian. Then it dawned on him :
He kidnapped a Zenian princess.
He turned back to the five men, all of whom abruptly stopped and appeared to be in some type of disagreement.

Kaden, ever the one to try diplomacy, stepped in between Joran and Teagan.

"Teagan, I think Joran has it right. We should give Corbin a chance to speak."

Gor snarled, flexing his muscles. He began to move towards the hut, when Nal grabbed his arm, halting him.

"Let go of me Elvin, or lose the hand!"

Corbin smirked, knowing Nal wasn't the least bit intimidated.

"Gor, this is a peaceful mission. We are here to collect your betroth, Corbin's crimes will be first dealt with the dreg Communal Council.

Crimes?
Of course, you fool! You stole a princess.

He shook his head to stifle that hateful inner voice. His heart raced and sudden anxiousness began to consume him. It was too late to try to rectify his stupidity. No, he had only one choice. Yani and he would hide in one of the cave dwellings, until a chance arose to sneak his shuttle out of the holding. Then they would leave Yor and go where no one could find them.

Or, you COULD do the right thing for once and give up, face the consequences of your actions.
He looked at Yani once again. The look of worry on her face lanced his heart. Was she worried for him or herself?
Herself of course!
He forced his eyes away from her. He knew better than too expect any kind of compassion from anyone, least of all a princess.
Why hadn't she told him?

He had already made up his mind though,
Yani was his for as long as he wished it.
Warmth fluttered in his chest at the thought of keeping her as his own. She had stirred vulnerable emotions back to life in him.

Hope.

For the first time in a very long while, hope began to swell in his heart. As much as he hated the insecurity that came with it, Corbin could not deny the truth.

The voices were getting closer. It was time to go.

"Yani, we're leaving now."

"Corbin, what's going on. What do those men want?"

He stopped and turned around, pegging her with a stern look.

"I really don't know, why don't you tell me ... Princess?"

The color drained from her face. Corbin took the sack she held and finished packing it. He secured the bag on his back, then grabbed Yani's arm. It surprised him when she somberly followed him to the back of the hut, instead of fighting his grip.

He knelt down and opened the trap door leading to an underground tunnel, where his people fled to safety, in case of attack or emergencies in need of evacuation. Every hut had at least one escape hatch.

After Yani climbed down, he closed the hatch and joined her. In the darkness, he heard her breathing. A slight tremor caught his attention when she inhaled. He wanted so desperately to soothe and comfort her.

Despite the intimacies they had shared, Yani would eventually tire of him, and then leave him to wallow in self-deprivation.

His eyes adjusted to the pitch darkness. He took Yani's hand.

"Just follow my lead. About three miles ahead is a Trans-portal, which will lead to the Morey desserts."

She stopped. He could feel her pulse race beneath his hand.

"Corbin I-I can't ... we should go back, I will explain that I chose to go with you ... I will ... th-they will find us!"

He tugged her sharply, nearly making her lose her footing. Quickly he braced her with his arm. "No!" he hadn't meant to sound so stern, however the thought of anyone taking Yani from him...

He shook the thought from his mind. "No one knows about the Trans-portal. The Dregs destroyed them during the war to keep the other races from attacking our cities. At least our clan thought we destroyed all the portals. I found this one when I was a young boy and never told anyone."

He felt her relax, and pulled her into his arms, hugging her close. "Yani. I will never let anything happen to you." He wanted to kick himself for that admission, although the truth of it felt right somehow.

"Besides, trust me Princess, they wouldn't listen to anything you'd have to say. Prince Nal was among the five men looking for you. His interests are not with your safety, but more for arresting me."

He could see the silhouette of her lovely face trying to see his. He sensed her confusion. As much as he wished to trust her with his dark secrets, Corbin couldn't. He had been through too many betrayals to allow anyone the slightest control over him.

"Come on, we have to hurry, I can already hear them above us."

They moved quickly through the tunnel, all the while Corbin fought the pains of withdrawal clawing in his gut.
