“I’m fine Dec.”

“No you’re not. You’re going into shock.”

This time, I’m the one on the receiving end of Ivy’s frustrated look. Hell Ivy may be frustrated with the quizzing and my concerns, I however was frustrated at our failure to find the fuckers. Without consulting Inferno or any of the other officers, I withdrew my cell and placed a call to Quick-Draw, telling him to replace Sundance at the house. I then rang Sundance and Trax. The Hybrid’s couldn’t be that far and this time, I’m hunting the bastards down, no matter how long it took.

I was going back to the drawing board, and as I glance over to Fudge, I inform him I’m going back to Tats, and that Tats knows more than he’s saying. The same went for The River Demons. I don’t know why they were holding back, but they were.

“Let Fudge and Tabby go Dec.”

“Can’t do that Prez, I want answers. Do you think Tats will talk to Fudge?”

“He’ll talk to Tabby.”

“Fine, I’ll visit The River Demons.”

“I think that’s a waste of time Dec. The Hybrids have to be local.”

Like myself, Linc was glancing up and down the empty road. They have to be here somewhere.

“Dec I’m going back to the house with Fraggle.”

While we were talking, Fraggle has hooked up the smashed sedan to the back of the cage. As she spoke, Ivy’s voice sent a twisted pain through my heart, and seeing the forlorn expression on her face, is not calming me down.

“Ivy I wish you’d go to the hospital.”

“I’ll be fine Dec. When I get back to the house, I’ll take a couple of painkillers and a soak in the tub.”

As good as it was, I was still unsettled, leaving Ivy alone in the tub worried me. As I was about to argue with her, Linc’s voice broke through.

“Cassie’s on her way. By the time you have Ivy home, Cass will be there.”

“Why is Cassie coming over?”

“To sit with you Ivy.”

“I’m not dead.”

Shit, did she just say that? The blood drained from my body as I realize how close I had come to losing Ivy. Another look over at Ivy and as brown eyes looked defiantly in my direction. I gave a nod. If Cassie was on her way. It wouldn’t be long before the other old ladies joined her.

“Ivy if you’re refusing to go to the hospital, it’s only best that the ladies come over and sit with you. Now come on, hop on the back of the bike.”

When Cassie arrives, she understands my urgency in leaving. As I say bye to Ivy, Sundance and Trax were on the road waiting for me. With a last set of instructions to Cassie, I go and join my brothers. A glance up to the bedroom and I discover Ivy watching me. She knows I have to do this, and after a moment, she gave me a silent nod and stepped back.

“Where do you want to start Dec?”

“We’ll go back to the accident and take it from there Trax.”

For the next few hours, we re-traced our steps. One of the first places we decided to visit is New Lyons. One Owner was one of the renegades and he had family there, who must know where he is. As the evening wore on, I found myself becoming further frustrated. We were greeted with blank wall after blank wall. Eventually, holed up in some biker dive, we find a couple of skanks, who used to hang out with The Black County, who, thanks to the grievances they had with the old biker club and especially One Owner, told us to try a place in Gonzolas.

That tip was proving to be successful. In Gonzolas, we managed to locate One Owner’s former wife Annie. Although she hadn’t seen him in years, she did remember a place where he used to hangout. The evening was getting late and I wasn’t ready to give up just yet. After leaving Annie’s, we went to the old warehouse she had told us about. It was derelict and after riding round the old place several times, I was about to call it quits, when I spotted the bike. With a signal to Sundance and Trax, we parked our bikes and stealthily began to make our way to the open door. When we were close enough to peer in, we discovered three bikes in total. Quietly we went in further and soon the sound of voices began to float down to us, with another signal, we slowly made our way to the bikers.

As I studied the bikers, who were sitting on empty barrels, drinking cans of beers: I wanted to kill them. These men had put Ivy at risk. Yet Sinbad will be seeking his revenge. I may not be able to kill them, but I could deal my own punishment. Slowly we withdrew our guns, and gathered the surprise men. From the duffle bag, Trax withdrew some rope and at my instructions tied two of the men up. One Owner was left unbound.

“Sundance ring Inferno, tell him we have the scum.”

As I speak, I remove my cut and jacket, but leave my leather gloves on. Five pairs of eyes are on me. Slowly I tread over to One Owner, who is walking away, only to be pushed in my direction by Trax, while Sundance sniggers. My first punch lands in One Owner’s stomach, the second under his chin. As he doubles over, I knee him in the chest. Now that he is winded, he falls to the floor, bending his head over. Slowly I turn and swing kick him in the side, which causes him to fall further on to the floor. As he attempts to stagger up, I throw another punch to his face. I’m not giving him time to find his defenses. I want this man down and I want him broken. I don’t care this isn’t an even fight. He hurt someone I care about a lot. As I land my next punch, I realize it’s more than care I have for Ivy. I love her, and this gives me added strength. As the adrenaline pumps through my body, One Owner has become nothing more than a bloody pulp. Finally, I step back with a last kick. The biker, when he comes to will be in agony, for now that is enough for me.

As I remove a cigarette from the crumbled package, I sit back on one of the barrels and enjoy the satisfying nicotine taste as I inhale deeply before blowing the smoke towards the ceiling. My hand is throbbing and I give it a slight shake, and I know without looking, a cold smile has spread across my face while I watch the biker on the floor, as he tries to straighten. He isn’t going anywhere and there’s no reason to tie him up. Satisfied that we have the situation under control I holster the gun, which I have taken from Sundance, telling the others to do the same.

As late as it is, Inferno and Sinbad arrive. Slowly Sinbad strolls over to the broken man, and pushes him with his toe.

“Fuck Dec, did you leave me anything to play with?”

“He’s alive isn’t he?”

The look Sinbad throws in my direction confirms he isn’t impressed by my quip and his eyebrow rises as he lights his own cigarette.

“Barely. I’ll take them from here Inferno.”

Just as he finishes speaking, Mississippi walks in, followed by Coats.
Both men take in the scene, but don’t say a word as they collect the bikers.

“As soon as we find the other’s we’ll let you know.”

Sinbad makes a production of looking at One Owner.

“Fuck Inferno, I hope we find them first.”

“Just keep us in the loop.”

“Will do.”

As soon as The Scarlet Runners have left, I stand and give my body a shake. The hour is early and it’s going to be a couple more before I’m home. This time when I shake my head, it’s not from the aches or the tiredness I’m feeling. No, it’s because for me, home is Ivy.

“Are you going to be okay Dec?”

Linc has come to stand beside me as I mount the bike. He must have arrived with Inferno and as I check the lot out, there isn’t any signs of other members from Devil’s Comfort.

“Yeah. I just need to hit the sack for a couple of hours.”

Linc looked up at the sky, the stars mocking us as they twinkled.

“Yeah, it’s been a long few days. I think we’re all ready to hit the sack.”

“Ma’s due back soon. And I’m taking Ivy away for a few days.”

I wasn’t asking for permission, I was stating a fact. The Hybrids were going to have to wait until my returned from New Orleans.

Dawn was breaking as I pulled into Ma and Pa’s drive. The space in front of the garage door vacant, a reminder of Ivy’s accident. At the front door, with a cup of coffee in his hand, stood Quick-Draw, his eyes watching me. His gaze intent and steady. Inferno wanted a vote from us all in regards to the young prospect. He had mine.

“Ivy’s in the kitchen and so are the women.”

“Fuck. Did you get any sleep?”

“A couple of hours I think.”

“Thanks. Watch Pa for me. I’m taking Ivy to bed and the women are going back to their old men.”

Quick Draw choked on his coffee as he laughed. Those women may have their men wrapped around their fingers; thankfully, I wasn’t one of them.

When I entered the kitchen, it was to find it subdued. Cassie and Rayven looked as though they had been parting all night and Baby Blu’s eyes kept flickering as she tried to stay awake. Maybe throwing them out wasn’t such a good idea.

“Cassie, Rayven, go take Ivy’s room. Baby Blu you can take Ma & Pa’s room.”

“Thanks’ Dec. We don’t need them you know. We can make it home.”

“Sorry Baby Blu, one accident is enough and I’ll not be responsible for another.”

As Ivy continued to sit in the chair, her hands cupping her coffee, refusing to look at me. She had simply sat there patiently waiting until the women left the room. Thank fuck they hadn’t put up too much of a fight.

“Look at me Ivy.”

Slowly Ivy raised her face, her forehead was a mixture of blues and purples, and it had me wishing that I had done more damage to One Owner. By my heel, I pull out one of the chairs and sit opposite Ivy, taking hold of her hand to play with her fingers.

“Dec.”

“In a minute, let me just hold your hand Ivy.”

This is all I could allow myself. Because if I went to her, and held her the way I craved. I would never be able to let her go.

Chapter 17

The skin around Dec’s eyes has turned a dark blue, and there was a slight redness mixed in with the white of his eye. The man must be tired, yet, instead of taking himself off to bed, he was sat at the kitchen table holding my hand.

Since the accident, I’ve been too wound up to sleep. I wanted to vent at someone. To shout and scream. Yet, I was unable to do this to the women when they came round and sat with me. No, even when Cassie marched me to bed, I hadn’t the heart to yell at her. Instead, I craved the attention she lavished on me, wishing that my own mother were here. Halfheartedly, I closed my eyes and tried to sleep. Yet sleep evaded me. Each time I close the lids of my eyes, the flashbacks began, startling clear images of the bikers and the accident rose before me, and then the cold sweats came. So as not to upset the woman who was sitting in the chair, watching me, I pretended to sleep. I think I may have catnapped, for the next time I opened my eyes, the room was in darkness, and Rayven had replaced Cassie.

When I’d pulled the sheets back to leave the bed, Rayven hadn’t attempted to prevent me, and together we returned to the kitchen. No matter how hard I begged the women to leave, they were adamant about keeping me company. The night had been long; the clock on the wall ticking loudly, hasn’t helped my headache.

And now Dec was here. The one person I desperately desired to shout at and he looked, lost. At first, I thought it was fatigue I saw in his eyes. Yet now as I look closer, it is sadness, mixed with regret.

“Dec?”

“Let’s go to bed. We both could do with some sleep.”

For the second time in less than twelve hours, I was being guided to bed. Dec didn’t lead me to his sister’s room; instead, he led us to his old bedroom. Once we were inside, Dec stripped me of my clothes. There was nothing personal in his touch. As soon as I was naked, he stripped himself and we both climbed into the pushed together twin beds. His arms calmed me as they wrapped around my waist and for closer contact, I hooked my knee over his stomach. It felt natural and right to sleep this way with the biker. This time, my eyes close without fear, and I soon drift into a dreamless sleep.

The soft stroking fingers against my hips brought me back to consciousness. As I slowly opened the lids to my eyes, I was pleasantly surprised, that the raging headache I’d had all night was gone, leaving me with a soft thud.

“Morning.”

“Afternoon.”

When Dec, declared it was afternoon, I was ready to jump out of the bed, only to have the hand at my wrist clamp on to me tightly.

“There’s no rush. Baby Blu’s watching Pa.”

“Cassie and Rayven?”

“They’ve gone home.”

“Oh.”

“Now how about a wake up kiss?”

Dec may have asked, but his lips were on my mouth, covering me in the sweetest kiss I have ever partaken in. It was slow and gentle, leaving my stomach twisting. Gently, Dec pushed me onto my back while his larger body straddled me. Eagerly I opened my legs, to cocoon his body in between mine. My arms reaching up to circle round his neck as Dec deepened the kiss. The stale taste of cigar should have annoyed me. Yet because it was the taste of Dec, I welcomed it, thrusting my tongue into his mouth. With each thrust of his tongue, I raised my hips up to Dec, and he thrust his hips against me.

When Dec broke the kiss, I whimpered, only to moan when his lips grazed my neck, nibbling on the tender skin. Eager to touch Dec, I ran my hands down his spine. My body echoed the vibration of his body as he shuddered against me. His ass was smooth against my fingers as I kneaded the soft flesh. This time, it was Dec’s groan against my throat, which had me arching up as a small shudder invaded my body.

Not happy with suckling on my neck, Dec moved lower until he reached the hard crescent of my nipple, which he swallowed into his mouth and gently began to suck. His tongue was doing crazy things to my body and I could feel the dampness at my pussy, as my clit came to life. Soon Dec moved to my other nipple, pulling and tugging on the hard nub, causing me to moan louder. Shit, I could happily die like this. With Dec worshipping my body. When he released my nipple, I gave another cry of anguish; I didn’t want him to stop. Butterfly kisses were soon scattered across my stomach until his lips came to rest against my mound. Damn, I was going to die. When Dec’s mouth latched onto my pussy, I couldn’t prevent the involuntary raising of my hips, as I desperately seek more of his tongue. A tongue Dec is more than willing to share with me.

Not wanting Dec to realize how aroused I am, I bite into my lip to prevent myself from gasping his name. Dec’s hands are not idle either as he lifts my buttocks to bring my pussy closer to his mouth.

“Fuck.”

Dec thrust his tongue into me with no warning and I was clamping on to the firm flesh, desperate to keep it inside me. At my scream and refusal to let go of Dec’s tongue, I am in receipt of a gentle tap. That doesn’t do anything to ease my pain.

“Damn it Dec, I need more.”

Again, I receive another slap, this time; he removes his tongue and nips my clit. The tiny pleasure pain causes me to thrust harder against Dec’s mouth, who nips me again and then lathers my pulsing clit with this tongue. A slight rustle has me frowning, especially when Dec let’s go of my ass. Damn it, I need to cum.

My loss of touch is soon forgotten, when Dec thrusts smoothly into me. The head of his cock stretching my wet pussy as it slides in. When he withdraws his cock, I whimper, I don’t want him to stop. Soon my whimpers turn to moans as Dec slowly and steadily thrusts into me. With each thrust he makes, I make a counter thrust. Soon Dec is increasing his thrusts, going in deeper.

“Hold on to the Headboard Ivy.”

What, what did he say. I didn’t want to let go of my hold on his ass.

“Hold on to the headboard Ivy, or I stop.”

Shit, he was serious as well. Quickly, so as Dec doesn’t stop his thrusting, I grab onto the headboard while wrapping my legs around his waist, now my feet are crossed at his ass, and each time he thrust in, I pushed him in a little further with the help of my feet. Damn the pulse in my clit was going crazy and it wouldn’t be long before I was cumming. The release when it came was long and hard, leaving my body shaking. As I slowly became aware of where we were, Dec finds his own release, his body shuddering over mine as he fills the condom.

“Damn it Ivy you were meant to be resting.”

“Don’t blame me Dec. You started it by kissing me.”

“Ivy it most definitely is your fault for having such a fucking fantastic body. Hell, I don’t think I’ll ever move again.”

Dec was still inside me and I wasn’t in any rush to lose the contact, so I gave a small squeeze of my hips to hold him in place.

“Like I said Ivy. It’s your fault.”

With great reluctance, I gave a wiggle of my hips.

“You’ll have to move soon. I need to go downstairs so that Baby Blu can go.

“Oh Baby I’ll move alright” Dec mutters as he gives a small thrust of his hips.

“Fuck, I need to get to the club.”

As Dec’s head buries itself against my neck and his disappointing groan makes me smile. The mention of the club reminds me of the incident from the night before. For a moment, I had managed to block it out, and now it was back.”

“Dec what did you do.”

“Nothing Ivy.”

Dec is withdrawing his cock from me and the slight pull of his head at the neck of my pussy causes me to wince a little. I still wasn’t used to the size of his dick.

“Dec.”

“Ivy I didn’t do anything. The fucker is still breathing.”

He may be breathing, but that could mean anything.

“How?”

After disposing of the used condom, Dec was in the process of pulling on his denims, when he turned to look at me.

“How the fuck what?”

Thirty seconds ago, I was feeling great, now with Dec being surly, I was beginning to become pissed off.

“How the fuck is he breathing?”

“Shit Ivy I’m sorry.”

Dec sat back on the bed, his hand idly soothing the flesh on my hip and side.

“He’s breathing on his own, through his mouth or nose, how the fuck would I know. Anyway, The Scarlet Runners have him.”

Dec hasn’t put his T-shirt on yet, and I lean against his bare back, placing kisses on the soft flesh, my arms snaking around his waist and I give him a hug. Dec’s hands came to rest against mine as he leant into me, his head, leaning on my shoulder.

“I really do have to go, Ivy. Ma will be home in a few days, and I’ll clear it with the club so we can get away.”

With a last kiss to his neck, Dec rose off the bed and finished dressing. As his head swept down to place a kiss on my parted lips Dec whispered.

“You’re a dangerous woman Ivy Rose, and I need to be careful.”

As he left the room, I studied his back, and then turned to hug the pillow close to me.

“Is it safe to come in?”

Baby Blu was standing in the doorway, with a couple of cups of coffee.

“Yeah, it’s safe to come in.”

“How’s the headache.”

I didn’t have a headache I had heartache. Yet Dec’s words have me thinking. Could I make the man fall in love with me?

“Have you spoken to Inferno?”

Green eyes sparkled as the woman gazed directly at me.

“He called round to talk to Dec, but when he heard Dec was busy he left.”

With a frown, I try to think when was Dec busy and how early had Inferno called round. Again, I gaze at Baby Blu for clarification, and my expression suddenly changes to one of embarrassment. Damn, I hadn’t thought we were loud.

“And William.”

“Quick-Draw took him for a walk.”

At the giggle in Baby Blu’s voice, I threw myself against the pillows and groaned.
