“Demon,” she rasped.

He winked. “I got that name for a reason, darling. Now lift up, or your pretty pink panties will be next.”

Time distorted as they shed their clothes until suddenly, they were both nude.

“So pretty.” He ran his fingers through her neatly trimmed patch and dipped inside her core. “And wet.” Leaning down, he connected their lips as he continued to manipulate her flesh. Their tongues did battle as they ate at one another’s mouths in an animalistic manner that turned her on. How could a man make her feel like she was free falling so easily? Her walls began to flex, and he pulled out.

She ripped her mouth from his. “No!”

“Yes. Next time you come, it’s going to be around my dick.”

His vulgar language made her blush and want to beg him to fuck her at the same time. Rugged and unapologetic, the man was naughtiness personified.

“Damn I love how you look at me with those big eyes. Slightly scandalized but craving me.” He pulled back and reached into the nightstand beside them. “But don’t worry, I’m going to give it to you, Ardy. He held up the silver foil packet. “I want your hands on me. You put it on.” He watched her with hooded eyelids and fisted his dick.

She licked her lips and nodded, willing her hands to stop shaking so she could open it. He paused in mid stroke and gripped the base of his thick cock. The head was an angry red, and leaking pre-come she longed to taste. He offered his cock up like a flesh-coated lollipop, and she scrambled to her knees, leaning forward to flick at his head.

“Oh, shit.” His breathy response spurred her on. She took him deep, moving her whole body as she bobbed her head. More of his salty flavor filled her mouth, and she grew wetter. D didn’t strike her as a man who gave up much control. Being allowed to see him needy gave her a serious case of lady wood. He twined his fingers in her hair and began shallows thrusts.

“That’s it, open those beautiful lips and take me deeper.”

His velvet rumbled cast a spell. She wanted to please him. Always a quick study, she opened her throat, careful to keep their gazes locked. The approval pouring off him fueled her. He twitched.

“Shit. You’re a little too good at this.” He balled his hand in her head and pulled out. “I’m going to fuck you now, Ardy. Get on the bed, and grab the headboard.”

Excitement detonated inside her like a bomb. She slipped on the nearly forgotten condom, and they both moaned. Task done, and limbs heavy, she clumsily crawled up to the top of the bed and gripped the metal headboard. He spread her legs and nudged her pussy with his swollen head. She tensed.

“Relax, baby, I don’t want to tear you up.”

She forced her muscles to relax, and he eased inside her, one inch at a time, retreating and surging in a delicious act of torture. Frustrated, she locked her ankles, forcing him closer, and he chuckled.

“Whatever Ardy wants.” He impaled her in one hard thrust that made her grip the metal for dear life as he fucked her into the mattress. Her lungs ached, and she bit her lip until it bled holding in the screams that begged to be spilled from her lips. He was long, wide, and pushed her to the edges of her tolerance. It was everything she never knew she wanted. She met him stroke for stroke, grinding her hips into his as the pressure began to build inside her once more. She tightened around him, and Demon growled.

“That’s it, baby. Come on my cock.”

His words pushed her over the edge. She opened her mouth to scream, and his lips crashed down, muffling the cry. His body tensed, and she felt the heat of his release through the thin layer of latex. He collapsed on top of her as they caught their breath, and she knew life would never be the same.

D sat back and took stock of his house. Two months in, they were functioning well. Rocket had come out of his shell; Harley was learning at a breakneck pace that amazed and terrified him, and he was…sexually satisfied with a touch of caring too much. It felt good coming home from the bullshit he dealt with to happy kids, a woman who looked at him like he hung the stars, and peace. Balance and tranquility were things that had escaped him his entire life, so he wasn’t too shocked that he had to do a week long run. He ran a hand through his hair and unlocked the door.

“Dad!” Rocket and Harley ambushed him, wrapping their tiny arms around his legs as he laughed.

“Now that’s a welcome home.” He glanced over their heads and spotted Ardy. Clad in a Dueling Devil tank top and yoga pants, she looked like she belonged.
But she doesn’t. Don’t forget she’s only on loan.

“Good day?” she asked as he set his saddle bags down, and the kids released their grip, allowing him room to move.

“Eventful. I have time to pack a few things, and I have to hit the road.”

Her face fell. “Oh.”

“You knew this would happen,” he said.

“Yeah, I know. We’ll be fine. I just wasn’t expecting you to say that.” She shook her head.

“You think you’re surprised?” He snickered.

“Yeah.” She smiled.

“You’re leaving, Daddy?” Rocket looked devastated.

“Just for about a week. I need you to be the man of the house and take care of Harley and Ardy.”

His round face grew stern. Thin brown eyebrows drew together, and he gave a small nod. Pride filled D’s chest and he rubbed the top of Rocket’s head. “That’s my boy. You going to come with me?”

“Yeah.” Rocket perked up, trailing behind D as he made his way toward the bedroom he practically shared with Ardy. The smell of something clean and fresh greeted him as he stepped inside the room. The bedspread was folded down, the sheets smooth, and the usually messy space had been tamed into order. He lifted his son and placed him on the bed.

“You keep track of what I put on the bed. Deal?”

“Deal.” Rocked nodded. His determined expression reminded him of his own. “You’re a chip of the old block, you know that?”

“Yep. I’m going to grow up to be just like you, Daddy.”

“Naw. You’re going to be better.” D turned away and began to pull out shirts, jeans, and socks from his dresser. There was nothing worse than being on the road, reeking from the long hauls, and having nothing clean to slip into. He’d learned the hard way to overestimate what he’d need. These days, laundromats were few and far between, and scraping up the time to do it on this run would be next to impossible. He didn’t mind running guns, but it set him on edge. One slip up and the law would have you. Jail time was hell. He’d been locked up before, three years for trafficking, and that’d been due to some string pulling. To say he had no desire to go back would be an understatement. He had kids to look after, and no one to watch over them permanently.

His mind returned to Natasha. She’d swept in all full hips, bomb pussy, and easy-going style. Then she’d ended up pregnant and everything had spiraled out of control. He’d moved out of the club, got a place of his own, and wifed her in everything but name. Giving her his last name was the one thing he hadn’t been able to do. When he’d found her strung out on the couch after a long trip on the road, his kids had been the first concern. How long had she been doing this shit? Would they be affected? The club had thrown down a shit ton of cash sending them to specialists and running tests. In the end, they figured she’d kicked the smack habit for her pregnancies. The blow out they’d had in her stupor had led to the truth about where her loyalties.

The lackadaisical response she’d given made him snatch her up by her throat. Lefty and his crying children had been the only thing that kept him from doing her serious harm. The stunted growth of his children came from neglect. She’d left them to fend for themselves while she became a nonfunctioning adult, passed out on the couch. D thought it might run deeper than that, but Rocket hadn’t wanted to talk about it, and the shrinks encouraged him not to force it. His sole job was to repair the damage by making his children feel loved, stable, and protected. For the first time, he felt he’d made leeway there. No more being shuffled from place to place when he got called away or feeling like they didn’t have a place to fully belong. It’d taken a shit ton of work to get them comfortable in the place meant to be their safe haven. They’d thrown out all the shit that belonged to Natasha, and redecorated their room with paint colors of their choosing.

“All right, Rock, we’re good here. Let’s move into the bathroom so I can get the essentials.”

“What’s sentials, Dad?”

“Deodorant, toothpaste, toothbrush, things most people called toiletries.”

“Letris. What are they for?”

“For when you go on the road and aren’t at home, kiddo.”

“Oh, cool.”

D chuckled yep. He’d never seen himself as a father. Not after his father chose to procreate with a self-centered bitch who’d been terrified of growing old. But he found he liked it. Children were truly innocent. They spoke their minds, told the truth, and reminded him of the simple shit in life people forgot once things got complex and adults gained responsibilities.

His son watched as he packed a tiny black bag. Finished, he glanced down at Rocket. “You okay staying here with Ardy?”

“Yeah, I like her, Dad. She’s real nice and teaches us all kinds of neat stuff.” He beamed. “Can we keep her forever?”

The words made him tense. “You know she’s only here for a little while, right, buddy?”

“Can’t we convince her not to go?” Rocket ducked his head.

“She has her own family to get back to. I’m sure they miss her.”

“Yeah.” Rocket’s voice was muffled. “But we’ll miss her too.”

“Hey, we don’t have to think about it for awhile, okay?”

“Okay.” Rocket pouted.

“Come on, I need to put everything in my saddle bags.” He ruffled Rocket’s hair, happy to dodge the bullet. The thought of her leaving bothered him too.

“So that’s everything,” D said, shoving his hands into his pockets as he peered at the three people with sad eyes lined up in front of the couch.

“Okay, you heard him, guys. Give your Dad a hug and head to bed. I’ll be in after you to tuck you in.”

D kneeled, embracing their small bodies tight. There was nothing more to be said, and drawing out the process only put strain on them. This was their way. With a quick wave, they disappeared down the hall into their rooms.

“How about you? You going to be okay?” D asked, eyeing Ardy.

“Piece of cake.” She waved him off. “I do caring for others well.”

“Yeah, I’ve noticed.” He moved into her space. The pulse in her neck jerked, and her eyes dilated. “I like how you look after my children.”

She licked her lips and swallowed. “That’s what you took me for, right?”

The words hit him like slap to the cheek. “Yeah.” He stepped back. “If you need anything, you have phone numbers. The boys will be checking in on you every couple of days. I shouldn’t be gone
for
more than a week and half, two tops.”

“Okay, be safe.”

“I’ll do my best.” He turned on his heel and stalked from the room.
What the fuck was I thinking? She’s not a girlfriend, she’ an acquired female I fuck.
Too far to the left and this whole thing could capsize on him. Pissed about his slip, he climbed onto his bike, and let the wind blow away everything that didn’t matter.

Chapter Four

She’d kicked herself for pissing D off right before he left. The lines were blurring, and she needed clarity for herself. At the end of the day, she was visiting. That meant she had to be able to walk away. Gone almost a week, D had called a few times. Usually, their only interactions were minimal as he checked on the kids.
As it should be. I’m nothing more than a warm body
. A little voice inside her head told her she didn’t believe that. She gagged that voice and fell back onto her usual distraction method, cleaning. She scrubbed the stove, removing invisible dust as she hummed along with the music coming from the Mp3 deck. The kids were napping, and that left her alone with her thoughts. A knock sounded at the door, and she rolled her eyes.
I swear those boys are worse than my own mother.

Setting the sponge on the white surface, she wiped her damp hands on her pants and walked out of the kitchen. One look through the peep hole made her freeze. The curvaceous mocha—skinned woman with feathered black hair and a heart-shaped face might be a stranger, but she knew her features well.
This is Rocket and Harley’s mother.
Ardy didn’t know all the details about how and why their mother left, but she knew she was banished. The woman banged on the door, and she cringed.
If Rocket sees her, he’ll flip.
Ardy scanned the area for the sign of anyone else and found nothing more than the older model black sedan in the driveway. The woman lifted her door to knock once more, and Ardy opened it.

“Can I help you?” Ardy said, blocking the entryway with her body.

“Oh…who are you?” The woman’s face twisted into an ugly mask.

“I’m someone who lives here. Who are you.”

“Natasha.” She huffed.

“And?” Ardy shook her head.

“Look…does Demon still live here?”

“If you don’t know the answer to that, I doubt you’re welcome here.” Ardy pursed her lips, not about to be intimidated.

“Listen you Irish bitch, we have unfinished business. He’ll be upset when he finds out you cock-blocked him.”

Ardy clenched her jaw. “Oh, trust me, love.” She purposely thickened her brogue. “He’s not being blocked that way.”

“Bitch.” Natasha stepped forward, and Ardy exited the house. Natasha stumbled back, and Ardy shut the door behind her.

“I know who you are, and you sure as fuck aren’t welcome here. So, I suggest you get back into that car and stop trying to get into the house because it’s not going to happen.”

“Says who?” Natasha growled.

Ardy struck a defensive pose. “Says me. Trust me, you don’t want to go battle. I’m surprised you even made it here. High as you are.” The dilated pupils and slight shaking of Natasha’s body told Ardy everything she needed to know.
