Jay watched her face and he knew what she was thinking.  “Let us go to bed.  You need to get some sleep,” he said guiding her to the bed where she laid down in a t-shirt and a pair of shorts.  Jay stripped down to his boxers and climbed in next to her wrapping his arms around
her
and pulling her tight into his side. He felt her relax and then her even breathing as she fell asleep.

“You are my mate, Emily Ann, an
d I am not giving you up
,
” he whispered as he ran a h
and through her hair tangling his hand it before he fell asleep too.

Chapter 11

It was getting closer to the party they were throwing for Sasha and Emily.  Emily sat on the front porch swing thinking about all th
e preparations for the party tomorrow
.  Their parents have always thrown them
one a few days before their
birthday so that way if they had any plans with friends
on their birthdays
, then they could still go with them.  Emily frowned as she pushed the swing for she was by herself now.  For the first time in over a week, she was
by herself without Jay
for him and Mark were in the study with their father.  Emily closed her eyes leaning back against the swing as she groaned mentally for she knew that she was in love with Jay.  How did it happen so fast?  She has only know him at the most two months yet she loved waking up in his arms and going to sleep with him.  She loved the little arguments they had because they did not agree with everything.  She loved the way he kissed her and the way he just held her close after she had a vision for she had a few more mostly focused on her mother’s death but she had one the
other
night about her and Michaela together again.  She had trusted her instincts and told Jay about this vision, which is why they were in the study right now.  She heard the door open but she knew
it
was not Jay because of the footsteps.

“Hello, Emily,” Cass said and Emily’s head shot up as she stopped the swing.

“Ma’am,” Emily said starting to stand but Cass waved her down and sat next to her.  She started the swing going as they sat there.

“Emily, you love my son don’t you?” Cass asked with
out
beating around the bush for she saw the way they interacted
and how they looked at each other as she saw the same thing between Mark and Sasha.  They had already mated and she knew that Mark had already marked her although she did not see the mark, but she felt
it
and Stan confirmed it.

Emily sighed as she admitted, “Yes, ma’am, I do although I have been trying to fight it.”  Cass laughed as she said, “Can I tell you a secret?”  Emily looked at her in confusion as she nodded her head.

“I did the same thing when I met their father.  You see, I was a human like yo
u were without your seer abilities
,” Cass
confessed
, and she watched Emily’s eyes go wide.  “Yes, I was human, but there was something about Stan that I could not shake.  When he told me he was a werewolf, I almost freaked especially when h
e showed me.  I think he did it on
purpose because he wanted me to reject him.  At first, my first thought was to reject him until I looked into his gold eyes, and I knew that I loved him more than any thing.  I remember the look of joy and pain that crossed his face when I accepted him.”

Emily frowned as she asked, “Why?”  Cass looked at her in confusion until Emily clarified, “Why was he in pain?”

Cass looked at Emily intensely for a second until she said, “What I am going to tell you Emily is something that only the family knows.
”  Emily looked at
her
for a moment before she nodded her head, and Cass continued.

You see in Stan’s family their males tend to have human mates although some have been rejected over the years.  If they choose the human for their mate, and the human accepts willingly, then they can change them to be almost werewolf with the exception of the actual shifting.”

Emily eyes grew thoughtful as she listened, “How does this go about?”

Cass hesitated for a second but continued, “When Jay marks you
his bite will contain a certain special
toxin that will enter your bloodstream.  Once it enters your bloodstream, then your body tends to either fight or accept the new invader.”

“Like a virus,” Emily concluded, “my body will try to fight it off which in case if it succeeds then I will die, right?”

Cass nodded her head slowly as she said softly, “It is not the most
pleasant experience that is why
Stan was hoping against hope that you were not Jay’s mate.  Stan almost lost me during my change for I had doubts about whether I could be a good Alpha Female for his pack that if it had not been for his mother, I would have died and Stan would have been heartbroken.  Emily, you must have no doubts when you accept Jay’s mark and you must love him unconditionally, or it will never work.”

“Does Jay know about this?” Emily asked quietly as her mind worked.

“Yes, his father told him about
it
the day you and Sasha went out to get your dresses,” Cass said.  Then she said, “He does
not want to frighten you for he
and I know that you are not sure about being Alpha Female.”  Cass went to go say something else but she stopped when she saw the smile that graced Emily’s
face and
the brown eyes that
light
ed
up as if somebody had lit
a
hundred candles behind her eyes.

“No, the idea of Alpha Female never really scared me although it is a lot of responsibility,” Emily explained softly.  “It was the idea that as a human I would
put
Jay and the pack at risk for although I can fight, darn
well if I say so, and of my abilities
, I will still be going
up
against werewolves.  As a human, my chances we
re slim for helping
Jay, but after what you told me, my chances are looking up.”

Cass had to know so she asked, “And if Jay is not chosen as Alpha?”

Emily laughed as she said, “That would suit
me fine too.  It
seems to me like he would rather be farther down the role of command
not
because he cannot do it, but because he feels more comfortable being behind the scenes well getting what
needs to be done ou
t
of
the way.”  She knew this for a fact because after the first night in his room, instead of letting Emily get what she needed or pack her own things, he had took her out to a resta
urant and a movie.  By the time
they had return
ed her things were packed
and sitting in her room waiting for it to be taken to his
,
which they did themselves as she glared at him the whole time.

Cass smiled in relief as she watched Emily for she knew that she understood Jay as well as his family did.

“Thank you, ma’am,” Emily said as Cass stood up to go back inside the house.  Cass stopped and leaned over in gave her a quick hug before responding, “No thank you
Emily
.”

That evening, Jay and Emily cuddled in his bed talking about minor things like their favorite colors and such as their minds wonder to what they knew they were going to do.  Emily was going to let Jay mark her and hope that her love for him and her faith in herself would pull her through, and Jay made plans to ask for her permission to mark her on her birthday
in three days
for he did not want to wait much longer to proclaim her his for the world to see.

He laid next to her as she curled against him with her head on his chest, her hand settled on his abs, and her leg crossed over his.  He had an arm curled around her waist and the other was stroking her cheek and tangling in her hair.

“I love you, Emily Ann Jackson,” he said giving her a light ki
ss before closing his eyes
not knowing that the next night everything would be different.

Chapter 12

Emily looked around and smiled for the party w
as in full swing.  Sasha and Emily
came down about ten minutes ago, and they were looking for their mates.

“Do you see him?” Sasha murmured her red-hair curled and hanging down her back.  She had put minimal make-up on both of the
m and the violet-blue she used for herself
made her eyes look bigger than they were.  Emily chuckled as she looked around the room spotting Mark over in the corner with a big chest girl snuggling up to him.

“Over there, and he looks like he could use some help,” Emily said as she saw Mark’s eyes narrowed as he said something to the girl who only laughed and leaned closer.

Sasha growled as she headed over to them and Emily watched as Mark’s eyes grew wide, and his jaw dropped as he saw her.  The woman looked at her for a moment and tried to say something to Mark, but Emily chuckled as she noticed he was not paying any attention to her.  Mark pulled Sasha into his arms and kissed her
so passionately
that the woman walked away in a huff
.  Emily laughed lightly as she turned her gaze away to search for her own mate. Mate, she liked the thought of that, for Jay was everything she could ask for and more.
She saw him standing near the doors that opened to the garden and she started forward to go to him but faltered as she saw
Victoria
walk up to him and put her hand on his arm.  She smiled at him with a tilt of her head and Jay looked down at her before turning his gaze back to his friends.  A slow smile graced Emily’s lips for in that moment, she knew that he was over
Victoria
, how she was not sure, but she did, and she resumed her walk towards him.  She had taken two more steps before she froze.  Then the vision began.

She saw the man walk towards her his eyes black and the evil grin on his face made her shiver.

“Michaela would like to see you,” he said quietly, and she knew.  They had Michaela.

“Where is she?” Emily asked in a shaky voice.

“If you come quietly then she will not die, but if you do not…” he let the sentence hang, but she understood his meaning.  She was scared, but what could she do?  Michaela meant the world to
Jay, Mark, and their parents, and s
he could
not let anything happen to her
.

Jay, she screamed silently as she walked beside the te
rrifying man, and then she saw
her, Sasha.

She snapped out of the vision, and she looked up to see him walking towards her.  She kept her face blank as she watched him.

“Hello,” she said politely.

“Michaela would like to see you,” he said just like in her vision.

“Where is she?” she asked playing it out like her vision.

“If you come quietly then she will not die, but if you do not…” letting the sentence hang, an
d Emily dreaded what he could
have done to that little girl.

She nodded to him and he fall in step beside her as they started walking in the opposition direction from her mate.  Then she saw Sasha, and suddenly, she knew what she would do.

“Emily,” Sasha cried.  “Isn’t this fun?  Mark went to go get me something to drink.  Who is this guy?”

The man tensed next to her, but Emily said quickly, “I ordered something for Jay and he delivered it for me.”  She was lying, and Sasha knew
that for Emily had already told her
what she was giving Jay
as a present.

“Okay, well, it is good thing it arrived on time then,” Sasha said going with the lie.  Emily smiled slightly.

“We need to get going so I can give it to you for I have to get back to work,” the man said with a sneer.

“Of course, I am sorry,” Emily, said.  Then she reached and grabbed Sasha’s hand with her own, “I better do this before I forget again.  I wanted to congratulate you on finding your mate and you never told me waiting until now.  We are
supposed
to be sisters?”  Emily finished the sentence with a pout and the man rolled his eyes at her not realizing what she was doing.

Sasha never moved a muscle and gasped as she said, “I am sorry I though you knew, but then again you are oblivious to things so I should have known that you would not
have
figured it out.”
Emily clasped her hand tightly her fingers making fast movements in Sasha’s palm
before releasing it, and she frowned, “That’s not nice, Sasha.”

Sasha shrugged her shoulders, and started looking as if she was bored with the conversation.

“I need to get going,” the man said harshly.  Emily turned to him in surprise as if she forgot he was there, “Oh, of course, I am sorry.  I will see you later, Sasha.”  Sasha made
a
noise and waved her hand at her as they walked away but she watched them from the corner of her eye.
