Acknowledgements

This book has been quite the endeavor, and I couldn’t have pulled it off without the smart, generous, talented author friends I exchange works in progress with. I am so lucky to have such creative partners in my life! So, kisses to Joanna Chambers, Lauren Fox, Carolyn Jewel, Jeffe Kennedy, and Katie Reus (Joanna and Katie read it twice!) as well as my writing group: Elizabeth Jarrett Andrew, Marcia Peck, and Terri Whitman, and my brilliant and handsome husband, Mark. I’m also grateful to my Linguistic Consultant, Joseph Devney, who provided excellent advice and kept me from making a few big blunders; any remaining linguistics mistakes are my own doing. Big thanks also to proofreader extraordinaire, Sharon Muha, and to all my Indie writing pals out there who have been so generous with advice and help. My gratitude also to Amber Lin, who made some great last minute catches, and to all you bloggers and reviewers out there: thank you for taking the time to spread your passion for books and stories.

Bibliography

One of my favorite things about writing this book was doing the research, which was just so very interesting. Three books in particular gave me a lot of insight into how Macmillan might work and think:

Coulthard, Malcolm, and Johnson, Alison.
An Introduction to Forensic Linguistics: Language in Evidence.
New York: Routledge, 2007. Print.

Pennebaker, James W.
The Secret Life of Pronouns: What Our Words Say About Us
. New York: Bloomsbury Press, 2011. Digital.

Olsson, John. Word Crime:
Solving Crime Through Forensic Linguistics
. London: Continuum International Publishing Group, 2009. Print.

About Carolyn Crane

I write romantic suspense, urban fantasy, and other tales of adventure and passion. My books have been published by Random House and Samhain, and I also go the indie route. I live in Minnesota (complete with an accent that people sometimes laugh at) in a 1920’s condo with my awesome writer husband and two cats. I love to run and also to read, even though I’m probably the slowest reader ever. I’m a superfan of chocolate and Mexican food, and if you invite me to your party, your cheese plate will be in more danger than one of my suspense heroines. Also, I use too many exclamation marks, I care deeply about animals, I work a day job as a freelance marketing writer, and I dream that someday I’ll having the time to do all the crafts in the many craft newsletters I subscribe to. But I guess I’m having too much fun throwing my poor characters into various adventures.
