"You held hands during your divorce? That's incredible. I don't think anyone has ever done that before," he mused as he scribbled faster. "So who's getting married?"

"Mariah is marrying David, who is Christopher's father, and I am marrying Felicia, who was featured in your video. We'd like you to cover the wedding. It's a double wedding; the four of us are marrying together. You've got first shot at it. No one else knows about it
except you
." Jake said, playing into what he knew was probably Isaac's journalistic dream.

Isaac couldn't help himself. He giggled wildly. "I'll do it, Jake!"

"There's a catch, Isaac." Jake said, tugging on his fishing line a little bit.

Isaac paused in his incessant scribbling. "A catch? What catch?"

"We'd like you to feature the changes we are making to our logo and philosophy at the company as well. We're going to start presenting ourselves as non-traditional families, because we are going to be running the business as two separate non-traditional families instead of one dysfunctional family.

It's even going to be on all the packaging. Slated to come out right after the wedding." Jake told him, leaning back in his chair and listening to the fishing line in his phone call go zinging out like lightening striking.

Isaac didn't like to be told how or what to write, but this sounded far too good to be true. Yet he couldn't take the risk that Jake was just feeding him a line.

"Is that it?" he asked, thrills racing through him as he jotted more notes down.

Jake shook his head. "No it's not, my friend. We've got one more huge surprise for you, but you don't get to cover that story until you come to the wedding. What do you say? Is it a deal? You get exclusive rights to the double wedding and the changes coming to the company as well as the final surprise the day of the wedding. Will you take it?"

Jake asked, adding in a moment later, "Or shall I call Sandy Cooper and give it to her?"

Sandy Cooper was the star reporter of Isaac's rival news team in town. It was almost like yanking the rug out from underneath him.

"No! No, no, no! I'll take it. I'll do the whole thing just like you said. No problem. I've got your back, Jake, and I'll make sure I take good care of you. This story will more than eclipse the last story, I can promise you that. We'll have you shining like a star in the spotlight soon!" Isaac's heart had gone straight to pure panic in a frantic moment when he heard Sandy's name. There was no way she could get this story.

"You're my guy!" Jake said with a pseudo grin. "We'll send you an invitation and all of the details."

"Thanks for the scoop, boss!" Isaac said and hung up the phone. He was sure it had magically become his birthday and Christmas all at once.

Three weeks later, with regular articles by Isaac leading up the big event, both couples were ready to have their wedding days. Christopher was all decked out as a ring bearer and both couples were ready to go. Isaac photographed everything and talked to everyone, including Jake and Felicia, who let him in on the news that she was almost halfway through a pregnancy. Isaac gloated with delight at getting to be the one to announce that news to the world.

Both grooms waited at the pulpit as Mariah walked slowly down the aisle to David, and then Felicia followed her, stunning in her long white dress, finally stepping down the aisle to Jake who was waiting anxiously for her. She felt like she was walking into a sweet, sweet dream, and it was one of the most wonderful feelings in the world.

The couples spoke their vows, exchanged their rings, and sealed their promises with a loving kiss. Mary stood as Felicia's maid of honor while her boyfriend Nick sat in the front row beside Cal and Maryanne.

It was the happiest day of her life, and there would be many more happy days to come.

Isaac was true to his word, and printed glowing articles about the families and how they had come together out of tragic and dysfunctional circumstances that they felt pressured into by the public and the media. They changed those circumstances into positive and dynamic outcomes, not only for their own non-traditional families, but also for all non-traditional families. The company, as a result of the rebranding and fantastic reporting, saw sales shoot up higher than ever, breaking every record that the company had held.

Isaac was awarded a Pulitzer for his work on the overall story and showing it in a light that magnified what public lives and lives centered in media spotlights can be like.

Jake and Felicia went on an extended honeymoon through Europe and Asia, or as she said, a babymoon; knowing that they had a limited amount of time to be together before they no longer had freedom to themselves.

Five months later, they brought a beautiful baby girl home from the hospital and tucked her into her own room in their home.

Felicia and Jake rarely talked about the circumstances that brought them together, but they knew that it was the unexpected things that had brought them the most joy. Facing their fears together and letting them go, was what gave them a truly happy lifetime together.
