Everything.
She could have everything she'd really yearned for all her life. All she had to
do was go home. Did she need Broadway? Did she need a concert tour? She just
needed to sing. She needed to have a home and love. That was what Marc was
offering.

It was a risk, yes. But as she
knew, all of life was a risk. She guessed she'd always been a gambler.

It was time to take this one.

"Phoebe." He'd climbed
out of bed and stood before her, not touching.

She looked up at him.

"You're a million miles away.
Are you okay?"

She smiled, feeling like a weight
had been lifted from her shoulders. "I guess I've decided."

His answering smile sent her pulse
racing with its mixture of hopefulness and confidence.

She drew her finger down the center
of his chest, then placed her palm over his heart. It thumped strong and
steady. "I don't think I realized until I met you that I'd been looking
for you all my life. Somehow we found each other. We can make a new family."

He clasped her shoulders
possessively.

"I love you, Marc."

He tipped up her chin, his crooked
smile now victorious. He expelled a relieved-sounding breath.

"And I'll marry you."

He dropped to his knees and
scattered kisses across her belly. "Wait. Obviously, I don't have the ring
on me." He laughed and scrambled for his jeans.

"You brought a ring? What if I'd
said no?"
He's a gambler too.

"Not an option. I'd have hung
around here until I drove you crazy and you said yes." He sat them both on
the edge of the bed and opened the pretty blue velvet ring box.

"Oh my God, that's
spectacular! I love it." And she did. The ring had a large diamond in the
center and a smaller on each side, all emerald-cut.

"The design means love. Past,
present, and future."

"I know." She could
hardly breathe. Patting her chest, she said, "I don't know what to say. I'm
overwhelmed."

"Yes. That's all you have to
say, and I'll put this on your finger, sweetheart."

"Yes!"

He slid the ring on the third
finger of her left hand.

"It fits!" Finally, with
tears in her eyes, she threw her arms around him. "Thank you so much for
believing in me."

"I believed in you the first
moment I saw you."

"In the club?"

He shook his head. "Uh uh."
Then he smiled mischievously.

Her eyes widened. "My front
window?"

"Oh yeah. That was quite a
welcome to the neighborhood. I would have accepted cookies or even a tuna
casserole."

"I've never done that before."
She laughed, playing with the hair on his chest.

"Good, and I hope you don't
plan on greeting a neighbor like that again."

"Don't worry, baby. All my
private bits are for your eyes only."

"Ditto!" He tossed her
back on the bed. "I'll give you everything I've got, my love. The house,
the club…"

"Children?"

"B Falls is a great town to
raise them."

"Yes," she repeated. "I
love you so much."

"I love you too, Phoebe
Barnes," he said, suddenly very serious. "And I always will."

About Jane

Sensual fantasies were locked in my
mind for years until a friend said, "Why don't you write them down?"
Why not, indeed? One spiral notebook, a pen, and the unleashing of my
imagination later, and here I am with nineteen books published. The craft of
writing sensual romance has become my passion and my niche in life. I love
every part of the creative process—developing characters, designing the plot,
even drawing the layout of physical spaces from my stories. My careers have
been varied—third grade school teacher, bookkeeper, secretary—none of which
gave me a bit of inspiration. But now I'm lucky enough to write romance full
time—the best job in the universe! And I'm fortunate enough to have found my
own happily ever after husband.
