Darius cleared his throat. “It was an incubus. He used his powers to control your mind and has been using you for quite some time. However, last night his life came to an end and you were freed of his curse.”

“An incubus? One of those things that feed off of sexual energy? How did it take control of me? I don’t understand.”

“Some can possess the abilities of vampires, as this particular one did. He was able to channel himself through you and not only steal a great deal of Hira’s soul, but Sang’s also.”

Her hand flew to her mouth. “Oh my God, Sang, I’m so sorry!”

“It’s okay now. I’m all better now.”

“But what about Hira? Where’s he at?”

Caen interjected, “Hira is still in the states in a coma. We must hurry there quickly if we wish to save him.”

“What’re we waiting for? Let’s go!” Haru leapt out of bed and pointed an accusatory finger at Darius. “Why didn’t you leave already? We have to hurry!”

Darius caught her wrist. “I will have you, Sang, and Caen fly back home to heal Hira. Lily and I still have a promise to keep with Wolf.”

“And that would be?”

“That we’ll accompany her to a meeting.”

“What kind of meeting?”

He shrugged languidly. “That I do not know but we agreed upon it, so we must carry out our duty. I wish you all the best.”

I chimed in, “Now go with Sang and Caen to the jet and get your asses over to Hira! Time is precious.”

Haru grinned and hugged me tightly. “Thanks, Lily. I’ll go right away. We must have tea sometime soon.”

“Most definitely.”

Caen and Haru exited the room to go to the jet and Sang, before shutting the door, skipped over to me and pressed his lips onto mine. They were so smooth and silky, so soft and velvety, and I nipped lightly at his lower lip and drew a pearl of blood which I lapped up hungrily and then resumed the kiss, letting our tongues waltz in perfect harmony, before breaking apart and staring into his crimson orbs.

“Promise me you’ll be okay?” I asked breathlessly.

He nodded and brushed a strand of hair from my eyes. “I promise, Lil. I promise. We’ll get Hira feeling all better soon!”

My hand slipped from his and Darius stepped beside him and pecked him on the cheek. “Take care, my Sang.”

“Will do.” And he left.

I turned to Darius. “So, what now?”

A mischievous grin graced his lips. “What now indeed…we must wait for Wolf to arrive and give us more details on the meeting. In the time that we wait, I can think of one thing we can do together.”

I felt my cheeks growing hot. Hira would be fine. Sang was all better. Everything was fine.

My stomach, however, protested otherwise.

How could I deal with Rosalie if I saw her again? How could I get even stronger than I was?

As the questions buzzed in my head, Darius pinned me to the bed and stared at me with hungry amber eyes.

“Do not worry, my dear. Just take everything one day at a time.”

My jaw dropped in embarrassment. “You read my mind again!”

“You seemed distressed.”

“That’s no reason to read my mind! How would you like it if I read your mind?”

He laughed. “I would actually like that very much.”

“Just shut up and kiss me already.”

He winked playfully. “With pleasure.”
