Lemme ask
you
some questions.” He spat and she reluctantly nodded.

“Shoot.”

“Who are you? Why are
you
after Dezmon?”

“Name’s Athena and
I’m a— Guardian— so to speak. Dezmon’s on a list and he was after—my Charge. I needed to protect her.” She said trying not to give away too much.

She was after all trying to figure things out because the pieces to the puzzle didn’t fit.

“That much I knew.” He snapped.

“As did I know about you when you answered my questions.” She smiled smugly and he ground his teeth irritated.

“I don’t have time for this.” He said gathering what was left of his strength and shooting to his feet.

Grabbing his shirt off the chair, he stumbled instead and instantly felt Athena’s arms catch him. She had been steadfast on his heels and had no intention of letting him out o
f her sight. Turning to her, his breath got caught in his throat. As much as he wanted to blame it on the way he was feeling, that wasn’t it. She was absolutely gorgeous. Her violet eyes were radiant, so much so that he moved a little closer to her. He moved close enough to hear her blood rushing through very veins.

You’re weak, you should be in bed.” She insisted trying to walk him back over to the bed, but he tugged away.

“That won’t help me.” He grumbled grumpily.

“Nonsense.” She smiled slightly and he couldn’t understand her new found generosity towards him.

You really have no clue what I am, do you?” he chuckled.

“As you say, you’re a demon.”

“You do know demons feed off—”

“Blood.”
She whispered feeling foolish.

How could she have forgotten that tad bit?
Not only did they feed on blood, demons that were fatally wounded needed extra blood to recover quickly. That explained his slow recovery the night before and she guessed that he needed it now after doing whatever he did to save Hazel.

“Yeah, so…” he said
knowing that that tad bit of information would get her to realize why they were at odds in the first place.

“Can’t you just— rest like before?” she insisted hoping to keep him from attacking someone innocent.

“I’m running out of time!” he shouted pulling away from her and nearly toppling over again.

Again, she clutched him as he fell into the nape of her neck. The smell of her blood was overwhelming, especially since he hadn’t had any in forever. His fangs emerged as his eyes lit up bright red. Heaving heavily, he pulled her closer and felt her body quiver in his arms. He couldn’t tell if it was in desire or fear. But one thing was certain, if she knew his intentions, it would’ve been in fear.

Without another thought, his mouth was on her
throat and he began to run his tongue along it. A moan escaped her as she held him back and he pushed her up against the wall, careful enough to keep her from seeing his true appearance. In the next instant, his soft scorching lips were on her delicate ones, igniting a fire deep within her. Opening her mouth, he slipped his tongue in.

Half expecting a forked tongue, she was surprised to feel nothing of that sort. He moaned in heady pleasure at the taste of her. It was better than anything he’d ever dreamt about and he wanted more.
Sinking his teeth into her would definitely satisfy that need. To have her warm blood coat his tongue before flowing down his throat would be—what was he thinking?!

“Get away from me.” He said shoving her away and she stumbled back
confused.

A part of her was happy he pushed her away, but another part craved him. The way his strong arms held her, and his lips kissed her hot and fierce—oh yeah, she was losing it.
Since when was she smitten with having a demon lust all over her?

“What’s wrong?” she asked
humiliated.

Now he had her thinking she wasn’t good enough. What the hell was wrong with her? Why would she care if a demon wanted her?
Looking over at him, she saw that he was hiding himself in the dark, shielding his face.

“Please…” he begged, meaning to keep her away.

“What did I—”

“Nothing.” He heaved trying to revert back to himself, but he couldn’t. He was too voracious.

Then stop hiding from me. What’s wrong?” she asked again, this time stern.

“You don’t know what you’re asking.”

“Yes, I do.” She made clear.

Sucking in a breath, he nodded. “Fine.”

Lowering his arm and turning to her, his face was revealed. She let out a tiny gasp as she saw the crimson radiance of his eyes and the incisors in his mouth. How could she have come to
desire such a thing?!

“Still want me Princess?” he asked sarcastically.

Swallowing hard, she walked over to him holding her arm out.
If he was in fact her Charge, she was willing to do whatever it took to keep him alive, even if that meant sacrificing things that made her cringe. Though to be honest, what she was about to do only made her blood boil with want.

“Drink.”
She offered and his mouth opened in astonishment.

Looking at her arm, he licked his lips slightly as she moved closer and pressed it closer to his mouth.
Falling to his knees, he stared up at her and she nodded slowly. Grasping her arm gently, he kissed the area as she shut her eyes. Looking up to her again, he sank his fangs into her arm and she winched in pain.

Sucking, her blood flowed into his mouth and it was sweeter than honey nectar. Of all his time, he’d
never
tasted anything like it. The swell in his pants was back and there was no getting rid of it. Not unless he plunged it deep inside her and made her scream him name over and over again. Getting lost in his bloodlust, he bit deeper—sucked harder and she whimpered in both pain and pleasure.

A rap on the door
broke his concentration and he pulled back as her blood dripped from his lips. Scrambling back, he stared at her as she grabbed her arm.

Chapter Eight

True Intentions

“Lucien, are you in there?” they heard Delilah’s voice call.

Still staring at each other, Lucien wiped and smudged the blood all over his mouth. Athena grimaced and he turned away. He couldn’t believe he’d lost himself that quickly. After years of fighting the urge, one female broke him like that?

“Yeah.”
He answered as he shot to his feet.

Wiping his mouth once more, this time clear of her blood, he strode to the door.
Opening it, he saw Delilah standing there in her hospital gown.

“What’s wrong?” he asked with the door half cracked.

“Are you ever coming to my room?” she asked a bit peeved as he spotted Athena behind him.

Having his shirt off didn’t help her jealousy one bit.

“Uh…yeah.” He answered and Athena frowned irate.

“Just
gimme a minute.” He replied and she smiled.

“Anything for you sugar.” She said caressing his face before walking away.

Turning back, he sighed before looking at Athena. Her face said a thousand words and he took as she was pissed at how he’d drank her.

“Sorry if I hurt you.” He
simply said before turning and slinking from the room.

Exhaling furiously, Athena began to pace.
How dare he use her for food then slink away when his “girlfriend” interferes?! She had half the mind to storm into the next room and execute both of them! Ok, maybe not both—Lucien couldn’t be harmed, but boy oh boy Delilah could. And after tearing her a new asshole, she’d drag the girl clear from her house and be done with her. Ripping her to shreds sounded like the best idea, especially since she interrupted what was blossoming between them.

Storming from the room, she headed down the hall and ended up at her guestroom.
Nudging it open, she saw Lucien and Delilah in a lip lock. Her heart sank as Lucien spotted her. Before he could say a word, Athena hauled from the room.

“Get off of me.” He replied shoving Delilah to the side, leaving her stunned.

Running down the hall, he headed to Attie’s room. Opening the door, he saw her eyes dart to him infuriated.

“How
dare you use me like that?!” she shouted.

“It’s not what you think.” He made clear.

“Oh really? What do I think?” she asked folding her arms over her chest.

Opening his mouth, he stared at her
cluelessly before closing it again.

“Exactly what I thought.”
She sneered.

“I should kill you right now.” She insisted manifesting a gun in her left hand.

Aiming it at him, he growled. Threatening him seemed to become her sheer specialty.

“I get it. But you offered—I said I was sorry if I hurt you!” He shouted.

“Are you just that heartless?” she asked exasperated.

Wrinkling a brow he shrugged. “So sorry isn’t good enough?”

“Let me spell it out for you!” she shouted and he stood quietly.

“You drain me of life and then drop me the moment your little
hussy
comes calling?! I’m enough for you to drink from, but not enough to—to—” and he growled as he darted over to her and shoved her into the wall, holding her there.

“To what?” he questioned through bare teeth.

Staring him dead in the eyes, she tried to squirm, but his grip was too tight. His solid body pressed to hers was exhilarating. Had she not been totally pissed and disgusted with him, she would have enjoyed it.

“Get off of me you heathen!”
she barked.

“That’s the last time you call me that!” he roared gripping her hair and tugging it back as she grimaced in pain.

“You want the truth?!” he barked as she kept her glare locked on his.

“I’m half Incubus.”

“So?” she sneered still pushing against him and feeling his cock against her.

“So?!
So blood and sex go hand in hand. I can’t have one without the other.” He said truthfully.

“So you just use me then go fuck her?” she asked irate.

“No. Look—” he said easing up his grip.

“This…” he said moving her hand down to his throbbing cock. “is
for you.”

Her body trembled as she swallowed hard.

“But I’m sure you have no interest in sleeping with me.” He finished, letting her go.

She was breathless and flush, but he couldn’t tell because he’d turned his back to her. All she could do was think of his sultry taste. He tasted of the fiery pit that spit him out—cinnamon
, passion, and chipotle rolled into one. Grabbing his hand, she tugged him toward her and pressed her mouth to his without another thought. Slamming into him, he wrapped his arms around her waist and stumbled back. Falling onto the bed, Athena giggled as she looked down at him. Seeing her smile put him at ease and if he were capable of smiling, he would have.

At least he knew she
wanted
to be on top of him. Kissing her once more, he didn’t give her time to rethink her actions. There was no way he was letting her out of his grasps this time. The way her body ground against his made his blood blister. It was definitely way better than any dream he cooked up about her. The smell of her alone was enough to hook him in. Slipping his tongue back in her mouth, he tasted her this time. Really tasted her.

It was like no experience he’d ever had before. And being an incubus, he’d had his fair share of lovers. Not that he was proud of it. He hated everything about his nature.
Looking up at her, all of his worries seemed to wash away as her violet eyes radiated. She gently caressed his face as she studied his features. Even though her instincts were screaming for her to stop, she couldn’t seem to tear herself away from him. She was drawn to him like a moth to a flame.

She was destined to one day get singed, but the temptation was too inviting. She supposed being on Earth had impaired her judgment, but she knew that was only partially the truth.
Truth was, she was curious of the opposite sex. Being an angel meant no hanky panky or courting of any kind in Heaven. Sure, breaking that rule had some penalty, but at the moment her mind wasn’t on that. All she wanted to do was explore every possible thing she could about the demon beneath her.

“Why are you different?” she questioned, kissin
g his cheek.

“I don’t know what you mean.” He answered, closing his eyes at the soft touch of her lips.
