In response she turned and cuddled into him and her lips opened. “Mate, mmm” she softly hummed and then she placed her soft, delicate hand on his chest.  It was at that moment that Logan lost his heart to her.

He watched her sleep for what seemed like hours, memorizing all her features and the way her body fitted perfectly to his. Serenity shifted and in the process swung her leg over his thighs. She still wore his t-shirt and it hiked up. He was now privy to the curve of her bottom. Crap, He had forgotten she had no panties on!

At this point he closed his eyes knowing full well his wolf would go crazy. At some point sleep came.

Chapter 4

An hour later, Serenity awoke feeling sore but rested.

She tried to stretch and took in a deep breath. The room was saturated with the sexiest scent she had ever smelled. One more breath brought about memories of yesterday and her eyes flew open. After looking around, it was evident that this was her room. Had it all been a dream? A slight shift in the bed had her gasping. “Our m
ate! Kiss him, come on. Hold him.”

Serenity was feeling light headed now. “Don’t start wolf.”

“We need our mate. Do you see his arm? He has our mark.  We marked him yesterday. I even gave him some of our power.” Her wolf whispered.

“What are you talking about?” Serenity was met with silence. “Answer me wolf.” Before she could answer the guys eyes opened.

“Hello beautiful.” Goodness his voice practically had her insides melting. Oh yes, just like a gooey chocolate chip cookie.

“Can it be a sugar cookie instead, they’re my favorite.” Serenity screamed and jumped out of the bed.  Her scream had a throng of people running into her room.

“What the hell is going on here?” Her father yelled at the guy in her bed. “I told you, that you could not mate her in my house.” Serenity worried for her father. The vein in his neck looked ready to burst.

“I did no such thing Sir. You said I couldn’t mate her. You never said anything about cuddling with her.”

His words made Serenity blush. “I woke up and he was in my bed.” She pointed at the sexy guy.

“Is that why you screamed honey?”

“No, that wasn’t why. She was looking at me, almost eating me with her eyes saying I made her gooey.  That’s when she screamed. She realized I was reading her mind.” Serenity was mortified. Why would he tell her father what she thought?

The burly man of the group slapped the back of the guy’s head.

“You have a lot to learn son.”

“What did I do now?” sexy guy said, not really thinking he did anything wrong.

Serenity frowned at him then turned to look at all the strangers. “I’m sorry, I don’t mean to be rude, but who are all you people?”

Her father walked and took a seat next to her. “I’m sorry sugar.  This is our Alpha and his wife. This is their son, Logan who is also your mate. This is...” Her father stopped talking as he looked questioningly at the other three guys in the room.

“My name is Kevin Sir and this is Rene and Ricky.  We are Logan’s best friends.”

“Nice to meet everyone. Daddy, my wolf keeps calling him my mate and you just did it also.  She also said something about the fact that we marked him and gave him some of our power.  I don’t understand what’s going on.” So much has happened in such a short time.

“The legend is true then.” The Alpha said as Serenity looked at him in confusion. Everyone seemed to be talking in code.

“Honey, get dressed and we’ll explain everything downstairs.” Everyone turned to follow her father except for the guy that had been in bed with her.

“Do you want me to stay and help you change?” He asked with a pleading look in his eyes. Her mouth dropped open just as her father let out a loud growl.

“Logan, get your ass down here. Now!” By the sound and tone. Serenity was very sure that had been the Alpha.

“I never get to have any fun.” The guy pouted looking so damn cute. “You’re not so bad yourself.” He commented before running over to kiss her cheek.

Serenity stood in shock for a minute. Her hand reached up to cover the spot that was left with a burning sensation. The warmth seemed to be spreading through her whole body.  She closed her eyes and allowed her mind to go wild. What would she have done had he kissed her passionately? Would he have gripped her hair with his fingers? The thought alone made her groan. Yet it scared her to hear the way he had groaned too.

~*~*~*~*~*~

Downstairs Logan found himself in quite a predicament. He wasn’t sure how the hell that thought had popped into his head. All he was sure of was that it left him with a raging hard on.

“Logan, what happened?” His father asked. “We were talking to you and all of a sudden, you spaced out. We just heard Serenity moan at the same time you did.”

Logan pulled another pillow over his lap. “I think we just shared the same image and feelings. It was like magic.  I could smell and feel everything.” Just then she descended the stairs and her face was beet red. She wouldn’t look him in the eyes.  Everyone was looking at them, but it was Tom who caught on and let out a growl.

Logan reached out his hand for her. She allowed him to lead her to the seat next to him. He smiled in appreciation. The pink halter top with black jeans suited her coloring. . She looked very pretty. His thoughts were halted the moment he realized something. “How the hell did he know she wore a halter top?”

Serenity pulled her hand out of Logan’s grip and shot him a glare.
“You were listening again as I picked out what I was going to wear.”
She demanded through mind link.  Yet out loud she asked something else. “Will someone please tell me what in the world is going on? Why was that wolf trying to kill me?”

“I’m sure your wolf has told you something about your mate.  We as wolves have one person out there that is our partner. The other half of us.  Only this person can make you feel safe, loved, excited.  You will feel things for this person you will never feel with another.” Her father explained and all Serenity could do was look at him in awe.

“The feelings get stronger once you mate.  During the mating process, he will bite you in the spot between your shoulder and neck.” Serenity placed her hand on the spot her father had just mentioned. That was the exact spot the wolf tried to bite.

“Every wolf has their own individual scent.  When your wolf smells the scent of your mate, they tell you. That wolf scented you as his mate and he came to you.  Did he tell you not to run?” Her father asked and she tried very hard to remember.

“Yes dad, he did, but I was scared.” Just the thought of it made her shiver. The animal had been bigger than she.

“Serenity, you must never run from a your mate.  They take it as a challenge and the animal takes over.  The human has no control over the wolf.”

“Was he going to um, mate me?” She asked fearing the answer.

“Yes, his wolf wanted you.  We hardly ever mate in wolf form because the animal is very rough. The very act is primal and animalistic. So we’ve always mated in human form.” Serenity was enthralled with all this new information.

“So what does that mean? Is a mate the equivalent of a husband?” Her father ran his fingers through his hair. The nervous tick again.

“Yes sugar that’s what it means.”

I stood up in a flash. “What? Wait a minute. You just told me yesterday that I’m a wolf. That I was going to die soon. Now I have a mate and have to be with him.  What the hell is going on? Where is this so called mate so I can slap him for trying to force himself on me?” Everyone once again looked at the guy named Logan.

Serenity didn’t want to look but her head moved in his direction. There he was, standing right beside her. Shit, she hadn’t even heard him move.

“I’m so sorry, I told you not to run.  There was nothing I could do.” Serenity looked at him in disbelief. So she did as said. The sound of the impact of her palm on his face made everyone turn her way.

Her father tried to calm her but she was having none of it. “He’s an animal, that’s what he is!!” Serenity glared at the so called mate. How can they say he belongs to her, yet he tried to hurt her?

“It’s ok, she’s right. My wolf had taken over making me an animal.  I am so sorry Serenity, can you ever forgive me?” Logan asked.   She looked at him trying to judge his sincerity. “That still doesn’t change the fact that I’m your mate. See, you marked me.” He showed her the mark on his arm. Her eyes widened. It matched the one she had found on her arm minutes ago. “See, we have matching his and hers tattoos.”

“I don’t even know you.” Serenity whispered the truth.

Logan was in quite a dilemma.  He wanted her love, but needed to earn her trust….

“I will not make you come with me. For now, we can date. Until you’re ready to be with me. You must know that your wolf will be bugging you until we’re together.” Logan told her in hopes that she would see that her happiness mattered to him.

“Holy shit dude, are you for real? You’re not going to make your mate go with you?” Ricky asked through mind link.

“Logan, are you getting sick?”  Kevin asked.

“Guys, this is my mate. After what I almost did.  I think I got off easy with just the smack.  Plus, I want her to get to know me so she can love me.  I don’t want her to feel forced because we’re mates.” It was all true.

“Wow, is our little Logan growing up?” Rene asked in a teasing voice.

“Plus, let’s not overlook that she’s fucking hot!” Logan said.

They all laugh. “Now there’s our Logan. I knew it was too good to last.” That made him glare at Kevin.

“Seriously guys, I really like this girl. She seems sweet and feisty.  My face is still stinging from the slap.” He rubbed his cheek after mind linking them that thought. He was snapped away from their mental conversation when she spoke.

“Can I go patrolling with you?” she asked in a timid voice.

“Why would you want to do that?” That was a weird request. Their females never wanted to go on patrol.

“I don’t know, I’ll be able to see the rest of the land.” She said with a shrug.

“Let her go with us.” The guys said in unison.

Oh no! That was the wrong thing for them to say judging from the look on her face.  “Let’s just get one thing straight.  First, I am my own person, mate or no mate.  Second, he will not control me.  Third, I do not ask permission.  That, boys, is only the beginning of my list!”  They all laughed at her feistiness.

“Man I like this girl a lot!” Rene said once he regained his breath.

“It’s about time you had someone put you in your place.” Kevin said as he punched Logan on the arm. Ricky just smiled.

“I don’t want to control you. There’s something to be said for that fiery side of yours.” Logan said then he shot her a wink. “Do you want to go to the pack house and meet the rest of the pack?” He asked, she shot him a smile that made his heart melt. “It’ll be fun and I’m dying to introduce my mate to everyone.” Logan reached out and laced his fingers with hers.

Serenity looked down at their intertwined hands and then looked at him in confusion. She was overthinking things so he yanked her forward before she had a chance to pull it away.  “Our pack is cool; you’re going to like the pack house.” Ricky told her.  “Then, when you move into the main house with Logan, we’ll be able to see you every day.”

Her body stiffened and Logan immediately comforted her. “That won’t be until you’re ready.”  As they walked, he told her about everything in and around the pack house. It was the only place open to everyone. It was meant to make people feel welcomed. When they finally arrived, it was apparent that there were a lot of people around.
