“She’s young. She was probably afraid. You can be a bit intimating when you’re determined. I was too flustered to tell you I wasn’t who you thought I was yesterday.”

“Aimee wasn’t intimated when we...”
No fuck brain!
Stop talking about sex with Aimee in front of Jenna. “I insisted on a paternity test and she abruptly ended the call. When I didn’t hear from her I assumed she found the real father.”

“How did you end up with Mason?”

“The woman who gave birth to him knocked on my door, handed me the diaper bag and him and turned around and left. She didn’t look back and nine days later hasn’t called to check on him.”

“Oh.”

“I had a paternity test done. Mason is mine. My attorney is making sure I have full custody. I don’t know if she’ll come back but if she does I want to be prepared. She’s unstable.”

“She might just have postpartum depression. That’s pretty common.”

“She’s trying to get back at me and she’s using Mason to do it. I’ve made a few mistakes but now I have to man up and take care of my son.”

“See, you are responsible.” When Mason stirred, she looked to me. “Can I?”

“Sure.”

She picked him up with such ease. She was a natural as she set him on her chest, resting his head on her shoulder and rubbing his back. This sweet smile graced her lips when he sighed and cuddled into her. In that moment I knew what I wanted. Now I just needed to make it happen.

“I need a nanny.”

“I can ask my dad for a recommendation.”

“I want you.”

“What?” She shook her head. “I’m not a nanny. I couldn’t possibly...”

“Look at you with him. You’re a natural.”

She looked away, almost if I had hurt her.

“That was a compliment.”

“I know, it’s just, well, I can’t...” She took a deep breath as she stared at Mason. “I’ve never cared for a baby full-time.”

“Neither have I.”

“I couldn’t commit long-term. I’m supposed to be focusing on a career.”

“I understand. I’ll have my attorney draw up a contract. When can you move in?”

“Move in?” Her eyes widened

“Yes.” I waited for her to agree to this impromptu proposal. “I’ll compensate you generously. I can hire a housekeeper too. Anything you need. Just say it and it’s yours.” I would do anything at this point. I was about to lose the London deal for my recent lack of availability.

“I’m just not sure I can move in.”

“You’re good with Mason. I trust you with him. I need you.” I couldn’t get a read on her, but she seemed anxious. “Whatever you’re making at your current job I’ll more than top it.”

“I don’t have a current job. I’m sort of in between taking some time off to figure things out.”

“Then this is perfect. My house is like a retreat. Even I can’t use half the shit in it. Pool, spa, sauna, gym, you name it, I have it. If I don’t, I’ll get it for you.”

Mason gripped Jenna’s hair in his tiny grasp. Maybe he was helping me.

“I’ll throw a gym membership in for my club. The one you’re having so much trouble getting into.”

“Will I have time to use it?”

“I’ll give you an hour of free time every week.” I grinned, but then I remembered the seriousness of the situation. “I’m teasing. You find me in a rare place.” I glanced at my son and realized I wanted this for him. “I’m desperate. I don’t beg for anything.” I looked into her eyes knowing I could hire a service to care for him, but I wanted her. Not just for my son, but for me too. “I’ll make an exception. I’ll beg if I have to.” Where had all of my dignity gone?

“I’ll do it.”

Thank fuck!
“Wonderful. Thank you.”

“I don’t know how long I can do this.”

“I understand. I need to get these new gyms squared away in NY and London. My mother will be back in a month. She’ll be able to help me then.”

“Does she know that?”

“I haven’t told her about Mason yet. I don’t want my parents to worry. They were looking forward to this trip. My brother stops by every day to check on us. He works for me. He’s an excellent personal trainer if you’re interested.”

“Aren’t you a personal trainer?”

“Once upon a time.” I hadn’t made an actual living off personal training since I began opening my gyms. “How did you know that?”

“I may have seen a few of your infomercials.” She trailed her gaze along my chest and arms. “Maybe you could train me?”

“Are you flirting with me?” They all wanted me to train them.

“No.” Her cheeks flushed an adorable color of pink. “I figured since I’m going to be living here with a fitness guru I could get my body ready for summer.”

“There are plenty of things I could do to get that body of yours ready.” My cock ached thinking about it. “For summer, that is.”

“When do you want me to move in?” She uncrossed her legs, shifting in her seat.

Do I make you wet, sweetheart?

“I’ll contact my lawyer and have you on the payroll by end of business today. I’ll send you the contract. Just fill in your terms and salary.”

“Just pay me what you were going to pay the agency.”

“Can you start tomorrow?”

“Sure.” Mason fussed, so she switched shoulders and rocked him. “Can I stay with him a little while this afternoon?”

“I’d like that.” I stood, eager to get those papers signed and more excited than necessary that she was going to be in the house. “Why don’t I show you the guest room and the room I’m turning into a nursery? They’re right next to one another.” And just steps from mine. Now my cock really couldn’t contain the enthusiasm. “I really do appreciate this.”

“It works for both of us. You need help and I need a job while I’m trying to get it together.”

“Don’t be so hard on yourself. Everything has a way of working out.”

We found one another. Didn’t we?

Two
days later and I was settled into a new house, and a routine that seemed to work for Mason. One I enjoyed. Caring for my little love bug was an unexpected surprise. It wasn’t something I imagined I could do. My parents thought I’d finally lost my mind, but I promised them I could handle this. They were skeptical. I’d given up the opportunity to be a pediatrician because I couldn’t handle... it didn’t matter. This was a couple of weeks, a month tops. I could do this. Mason needed me. So did his father.

I finished cleaning up from dinner as Kyler and Mason hung out in the family room. Kyler was home most of the day working in his office. He’d come out and check on Mason every so often and each time he did I found myself swooning. This man was the total package in the looks department, but he also had a paternal side and that made him even more desirable. Once word got out that one of the city’s top bachelors was raising a baby on his own, he’d have women throwing themselves at him. Would he need me then?

The patio doors opened and in stepped a buff man wearing black basketball shorts and a grey form fitting t-shirt. Kyler glanced up at him.

“You’re late.” Kyler put the exercise DVD that he’d been analyzing for the past twenty minutes on hold. “And this DVD you sent me is total crap.”

“Dude, you’re way too hard to please.” The man bent down and scooped Mason off Kyler’s thighs where he’d been resting while his dad worked. “The girl in that video is going to be the next big thing in the industry. If Team Ky doesn’t scoop her up someone else will and then I’m going to say I told you fucking so.”

“Hey, not in front of the baby.” Kyler got up from the floor.

“What?” The athletic man with the dark hair and same color eyes as Mason and Kyler looked down at Mason who was effortlessly snuggled in his arms. “He’s being raised by us. He’s gonna cuss.”

“Can we at least get him to kindergarten?” Kyler snickered before making eye contact with me and smiling. That smile that made me weak. “Jenna, come meet my idiot brother.”

I dried my hands on a paper towel and tossed it in the trash container under the sink before joining the two sexy brothers in the family room.

“Hi.” Extending my hand, the cutie took it in his. “I’m Jenna.”

“The hot nanny.” He looked me over. “Dude, you weren’t kidding when you said she was–”

“Yeah,” Kyler interrupted him. “This is Caden.”

“Nice to meet you, Caden.” I smirked at Kyler, wondering what he had said about me to his brother. “Kyler says you’re doing a great job holding down the fort at the gyms while he’s been working here.”

“Now that he has you maybe he’ll show his face at some of the locations this week?” Caden elbowed his brother. “Although I can certainly see why you’d want to hang out here.”

“I told you he was an idiot.” Kyler rolled his eyes. “I’m surprised he hasn’t gotten me sued for sexual harassment yet.”

“Oh, like you haven’t fooled around with your fair share of the employees and the customers?” Caden looked down at Mason. “Your old man is a legend. Just wait until I tell you the stories about the stuff he pulled off.”

“Why don’t you take Mason outside for some fresh air while I talk to Jenna? I’ll meet you out there and we can discuss this DVD.” Kyler pointed at the TV. “Or the lack there of it.”

“You’re wrong about that.” Caden headed for the patio doors. “Good to meet you, Jenna. And make sure you put bossy in his place.”

“I’ll keep that in mind.” I laughed as he walked outside. “He’s a character.”

“You have no idea,” Kyler said. “He’s all fun and games, but he has stepped up these past two weeks and helped me out of a few jams.”

“I’m hoping he’ll share some of those stories with me.”

“No, you don’t want to hear about any of that.”

When he shrugged I couldn’t stop staring at his shoulders. All I could see was me gripping on to them while I rode him.
Stop it!
Since moving in here all I thought about was having sex with him in various positions and in every corner of this ridiculously huge house. Even the pantry had potential.

“Before I go have a meeting with Caden I just wanted to thank you for setting up the appointment with your dad today. I hadn’t even thought about taking Mason to a pediatrician. I had no idea that babies needed to be seen that often.”

“I’m just glad Mason’s mom left the medical records with you so my dad knew about his vaccination schedule, his birth weight and all that stuff.”

“Your dad was great with him and he didn’t make me feel like an ass.”

“Why would he do that?”

“My situation with Mason is a bit unique.”

“I explained everything to my parents.” When was he going to stop beating himself up over this? “It doesn’t matter how you ended up being a father. What’s important is you’re doing what you’re doing and you’re doing a really good job.”

“I just wanted to...” He paused for a few moments, but when he took my hand, I didn’t expect it.

“Mason must be missing his mother.” His jaw tightened when he used that last word. “How she could just walk away is beyond me.”

I had been thinking the same thing for the past two days, but I was trying not to judge her. It wouldn’t do Mason any good.

“When I see you with him, I can see that you’re bonding.”

“It would be hard not to.”

“You’re going above and beyond what I expected in a nanny. You’re filling a void that I know he needs. This link you’re creating with him is important. I just want to make sure you know how much I appreciate everything you’re doing for him.” He squeezed my hand. “For us.”

Could this man make me melt anymore tonight? As if watching him care for his son while he worked wasn’t enough now he was admitting that he put some serious thoughts into the feelings of a two month old baby. He may not have wanted to be a father, but he truly was one. A really good one too.

“I’m glad I’m here. It’s helping me too.” No, we’re not going down this road. He doesn’t need to know my life story. “I mean, knowing that I’m helping you makes me feel good.”

“Hey,” Caden called from the patio. “Mason did something really uncool.”

I smiled when Kyler mumbled under his breath.

“It’s time for his bath anyway.” I glanced down at our joined hands before letting go.

“Thank God.” Caden came inside. “He stinks.” He handed me Mason. “How am I supposed to use him to pick up chicks when he poops like that?”

“You’re not using him to pick up
chicks
.” Kyler slapped his brother’s shoulder. “Just no.”

“Like you haven’t thought about it,” Caden said. “Girls love babies. Your market value is going to go through the roof when you make him public. A thirty year old single, rich daddy in need of a baby mamma. Come on.”

I frowned because I didn’t like thinking about Kyler with a woman. Of course he’d have dates and I’d probably be the one watching Mason when he went on them. Could I handle that? I’d have to. I was an employee hired to care for his son. Nothing more.

“I’m going to bathe him and feed him before he goes down.” I kissed Mason’s head before resting him against my chest. “Then I think I’m going to crash for the night. This little guy exhausts me.”

“I can do the one a.m. feeding,” Kyler offered. “I don’t mind.”

“I’ll take you up on that tonight. That’ll give me a few solid hours before the four a.m. feeding.”

“Perfect.” Kyler moved closer to me and when he leaned in I thought... “Good night, Mason.” He kissed his son’s head. “Daddy will see you soon.”

More swooning. But why had I thought he was going to kiss me? Did I want him to?

“It was nice meeting you, Jenna.” Caden interrupted my state of confusion. “I’m sure I’ll see you a lot.”

“Probably.” I nodded. “Don’t work too hard.”

“He never does,” Kyler said. “Make sure you relax after he goes down.”

“I will.” I headed toward the stairs, stopping in the foyer.
What’s happening?
I took a deep breath, trying to control my anxious heart. Two days under the same roof with Kyler and I’d fallen fast and hard. How had I let that happen?
