“Yes, perfect,” he yowled, staring into my eyes. “The things you do to me, Hadley. Feelings I didn’t know were real. Thank you.”

“Thank you?” I lost my rhythm for a moment but then recovered.

“Thank you for showing how much there is to life. For protecting me and not wanting to hurt me like everyone else. For—”

“No more,” I chastised before kissing him again. “You do the same for me. I
feel
the same, Torr. Right now is just about us. Let go and show me with your body what you feel for me.”

“Gladly,” he purred and rolled us over. Then he pinned my hands on either side of my head, our fingers still entwined as he moved those graceful, slim hips in every sultry way possible. The minutes went by and we stared into each other’s eyes. Nothing said, nothing else but our bodies moving together as one.

“Torr, I’m there already,” I moaned when I couldn’t hold back any longer. “Mark me, babe.”

He snarled as his eyes changed to feline ones before he moved faster and came all over my stomach and chest. I followed him right over, roaring out my release as I filled his body with my seed.

I slumped into the grass as he did on me. “I need more than once I think. You’ve made me your cock slut.”

“Then my ultimate master plan has worked,” I chuckled as I reached behind him and fingered his hole where my cock was still.

He moaned and kissed along my neck. “That was
amazing
, my owl. Make love to me in that kinky way only you have shown me. I want wild outside Hadley now.”

“Gladly,” I echoed, smirking when he got the joke. I rolled us again, pulling out of him as I did, and then flipped him onto all fours. I plunged back into my man and moved my body over his. He slammed back to meet my every thrust, both of us grunting and groaning at the sensations.

We finished together a good while later and slumped to the ground in a pile.

“Check kinky outdoor sex off the bucket list,” he giggled and I moaned as I felt it all the way to my cock. “Race you back?” I pulled out of him and rolled onto my side, gasping for air.

“Winner gets a blow job?” I wiggled my eyebrows at him and got the reaction I wanted. Torr threw back his head and laughed, looking years younger than he had lately with all the stress he was under.

“Sure, I’ll get on my knees and blow you in front of all my advisors and guards. You’re worth that.” He shifted and took off.

Nah, I’d let him win. He was a King after all.

And maybe I wanted Abram to see what I was willing to do to please my man. Yeah, yeah, I sucked. So what?

I did a
lot
of sucking when I caught up to Torr, where he leaned against the wall of the house waiting for me. He enjoyed every damn minute of it too.

By the time we were done playing and cleaned up, we had a
shitload
of intel and markers mapped out. Torr called Emrys back and he got in on the plan. He was a warrior after all so his input was more than welcome.

And I liked seeing how jealous Torr could get over me. I don’t even think he realized it but he was always standing between Emrys and me. Emrys caught that and gave me a wink. Yeah, I had a feeling the man had done what he had to jump-start us in the right direction.

It was dinner time when Konrad strolled in with my friend Olave—who had his hand possessively on the smaller puma’s lower back.

“Thank you for coming, Olave,” I greeted, extending my hand, which he received. “I didn’t hear you on any of the calls and worried that the news hadn’t reached you.”

“It had not so thank you, my friend. The equine shifters tend to keep to themselves so we’re normally forgotten.” He handed me back my note and smiled at me. “And I promise I will
happily
handle the situation.”

“I thought you might want to,” I chuckled, giving him a wink. “Please join us for dinner and then we’ll catch you up. Hopefully you can help us figure out if we’ve missed any other groups.”

“It would be my pleasure.” Torr joined us then and Olave bowed—still keeping his hand on Konrad. “Your grace, the felines are lucky that you have taken over rule of their people at such a crucial time.”

“Thank you, Stallion. I’m sorry the equines were not informed. That’s my oversight as you are our allies.” The tension in his shoulders showed Torr was truly upset about it and taking it on himself.

“Nonsense. The situation was rectified and no one could handle everything seamlessly with such traumatic news. Hopefully I can be of help and we can get my people to safety as well.”

“I’ve already discussed the possibility with Director Fabian that your stable join us at the stronghold. He is in favor as long as certain understandings can be reached.” Torr’s eyes filled with a
hint
of worry I’m sure no one else in the room could see.

“We will donate blood but it’s against our culture to allow biting unless it is between mates or prospective mates. If the director will accept bags for his vampire’s needs, then this is not a problem,” Olave hedged.

“Director Fabian is asking nothing more of anyone. If people wish to be intimate and share that way, that’s up to them. All he’s asking is for medical type donations on reserve for his people. With the amount of misting and traveling they will be doing to get us supplies we need, he has explained how draining that can be on them.”

“Understandable. And to that end, I wanted to ask if there are any sprites coming to this stronghold?”

Torr sighed and rubbed the back of his neck. “Honestly, I know there are elves, but my understanding was that sprite was a class of fae that they didn’t like to make the distinction of. I’m not well versed in their ways. They’re very—”

“Annoyingly secretive?” Olave supplied for Torr with a smirk on his lips.

“We can go with that, yes,” my man chuckled. “Why check if we have sprites?”

“Like casters they can appear and disappear but they do not need to be of a certain power to do that. I’ve seen powerful sprites relocate entire rooms or houses with them.”

“That’s a potent ally to have.” Torr smiled widely then winced. “Fae don’t ever give blood though, right? Not even donations?”

“No, no, they won’t,” Olave agreed.

“For that type of help, I’m sure Director Fabian will understand,” I mediated, wrapping my arm around Torr. “There’s going to be a lot of shifters willing to feed the vamps. The goal is for everyone to contribute. The elves aren’t donating because it weakens them more than us and we’ll need them to help grow food.”

“How about the sprites use their abilities to go clean out a blood bank?” Konrad offered. “I mean, I know shifter blood is stronger, any paranormal blood really, but if the goal is to have massive reserves just in case, once we’re moved, add it to the supply list.”

“That’s the third idea you’ve had that has impressed me,” Olave praised as his hand moved down to Konrad’s ass. “What a treasure you are. I owe you a great favor, Hadley, that you sent me such a prize of a messenger.”

“Please, Konrad spreads his legs for everyone. You would have gotten a taste the second you were at the same stronghold with us,” one of the guards joked as he set down some more markers.

I watched Konrad’s bright disposition crumble right before us and it broke my heart. I couldn’t get involved without upsetting Torr, but I could see from the horror on his face he’d never heard anyone speak of Konrad like that.

Apparently there was so much going on and quickly, people were letting down their guard a bit when they felt safe.

Konrad stepped away from Olave. “I-I should go ch-check in for my a-assignment,” he stuttered as he stared at the floor. Then he booked out of the room, and the second he was gone, Olave reacted.

“I apologize in advance, your grace,” he muttered and then jumped the guard who ran his mouth. I watched as the
huge
Stallion slammed the guy into the wall hard enough to dent the stone. “How
dare you
! That man is
one of you
and yet you try to embarrass him in front of a visiting leader. Are you insane? What type of loyalty is that?”

“It was just a joke. Konrad loves sex and cock. There’s
nothing
wrong with that,” he sputtered, glancing at Torr before focusing back at Olave. “We all love him under us. He’s just not someone you get serious with. I mean, he begs for it and jumps beds—”

“Not. Anymore,” Olave seethed as he got in the guy’s face. “He’s off the market and out from
under you
. You’re blind and ignorant to not see the prize of a man you had in your bed, treating him like a faceless tryst. I will
not
make the same mistake. I will treat him like the gift he is and maybe you will see the truth and pull your heads out of your asses. Either way, do
not
speak about him like that.”

“Yes, Stallion Olave. I apologize. I like Konrad.”

“Yes, well like him less and stay away from him.” He tossed the man aside and bowed to Torr. “By your leave I would like to track down my dinner date and tend to his hurt feelings.”

“Yes, of course. Thank you, Stallion Olave. I had no idea this was going on.” Torr wrapped his arms around his stomach as his shoulders slumped.
Oh shit.

“My men are not always forthcoming with me either.” Olave shrugged and glanced between us. “And you’re King. But Hadley and I know how cruel men, especially testosterone-filled ones, can be.”

“Happy hunting, my friend,” I chuckled, trying to lighten the mood with the crowd we were drawing. “See you at dinner.” He nodded and jogged after Konrad. I shook my head, hoping that one worked out.

“I’m about to start groveling, aren’t I?” Torr asked, staring after the door. “You sent Konrad thinking he’d be your friend’s type?”

“Oh, you have more groveling than just that, your grace,” I taunted as I handed over the note. I already knew what it said since I’d written it, and I was praying that trying to have Torr focus on his groveling would stop him from the guilt I saw growing in his eyes that’d he’d missed the way people treated Konrad.

Olave,

I worry you were not informed of a serious situation that you must be. Please come to the Prince’s (now King’s) compound. It’s imperative, my friend, and time is of the essence.

And I have a request to ask you as well. That favor you owe me from that night in Rio? The man before you is your repayment, Olave. I need a stud and we both know that’s more than a compliment when it comes to you. Young Konrad has been abused or seriously mistreated in the past and now looks for love and attention in all the wrong ways.

We both know what that’s like and the consequences of those choices. He is everyone’s favorite fuck buddy now and no one takes him seriously as a guard. I would try to fix the situation myself but the man I’m deeply in love with is jealous of Konrad and since I have not professed my true feelings nor are we in a secure place, I would not hurt him for all the world—even to help Konrad.

But if a certain, powerful stud was to pay him some attention, ignoring all others, maybe they will understand that the man has a higher value than everyone’s leftover bed partner. Plus, he’s just your type: submissive, vocal, responsive to touch, and begging for real passion. I see a stud as his perfect partner though that’s not the payment of the favor you owe me I’m asking. I just want everyone to see that Konrad’s special… So maybe he will one day.

Thank you, my friend,

Hadley Burgess

“Yeah, I’m groveling big time,” Torr whispered, staring up at me with misty eyes. “All of this to help one of mine, when I didn’t, you couldn’t because I was jealous, and before I even saw it. And you think you aren’t true leader material? My gods, Hadley, this is what being a leader is all about—taking care of your people. You see Konrad as one of yours now, friend, family whatever, and you did what you could to help. That’s amazing.”

“Thank you.” I hugged him, touched by his words. “Does that mean you’ll do that thing with your tongue that drives me nuts later?”

“I’ll do that just because I love to do it as much as you love receiving it,” he chuckled, smacking my ass. “I’ll find another way to grovel.”

“I’ll hold you to that.” We shared a brief kiss and got back to work, another crisis averted.

Dinner was a treat though, Olave ignoring everyone else as he doted on Konrad. Torr had asked me if my friend was playing it up for the group.

“No, horse shifters, Stallions especially, are
very
attentive. It’s partly their animal side. I mean, horses normally carry the weight of two and do the heavy lifting. But as a Stallion he’s aggressive as well and will want his partner to submit and never stray. I think it’s a perfect yin and yang match. Konrad needs the attention and treatment, and will be everything Olave needs and has trouble finding in a partner.”

“It’s hot when you play matchmaker,” he purred, leaning over and moving my arm around his shoulders. “Very hot. And I’ll get that bite off of you tonight since there’s no question in my mind you want Konrad anymore.”
