“Correct.” Doug nodded as he started backing up toward the door.

“And more than one beep?” Chad asked, his concern growing.

“Not so good,” Naomi said as she also started backing up.

“Especially when they come so quickly,” Doug added.

All three spun around and raced toward the door.

The good news was they got outside and Doug quickly pulled the garage door shut.

The better news was as they stood outside catching their breath, the alarm started to

slow down.

Naomi and Chad traded looks.

“You think it’s safe?” Naomi asked.

Doug paused to listen.

“Yeah.” He nodded. “It’s definitely run out of

power.”

All three let out a sigh of relief.

Doug reached for the garage door and raised it back up. “That was close.”

“I’ll say,” Naomi agreed.
