Chapter 3

Hannah

How was it possible I ended up partnered with the Noxi that I just so happened to see before class? The one who made my heart thump in my chest? He looked at me with that boyish smirk, and he seemed like any other cocky boy on campus. If he didn’t show the tale-tell signs of being a Noxi, no one would suspect he was any different than your typical college boy. I wouldn’t ever admit it out loud, but he was attractive. Everything about his appearance was so different than my own.

The professor partnered up the rest of the class as we all stood and digested the fact that we would be spending a lot of time with one another and most of the other humans, much like me, were raised to hate. We didn’t like what we didn’t understand. It was a fear of the unknown that created the palpable hatred.

Wyser stood with his shoulders slouched and his hands in the pockets of his jeans. He wore an easy smile and there was a light in his eyes. He was one of those boys that drove me nuts. He didn’t take things seriously, and he made a joke out of everything. “You ready to get to know me, partner?” he asked.

I grumbled. The semester just got a whole lot longer. I couldn’t fail a class. Not when I did my best to keep my 4.00 average. It was too important to me, and I wasn’t going to let one annoying Noxi throw me off my path. I plastered on the smile reserved for my father and brother and nodded. “Of course.”

He didn’t buy my fakeness and shook his head with a small smile. He led me to where he had been sitting and I sighed. “Give me a second; I’ve got to get my stuff.”

His barely there nod frustrated me, and I spun to get my things. I wasn’t going to let my upbringing ruin things for me. I could be his friend. It would be easy to get to know him because if I was honest I was intrigued by his species. They’d been around for most of my life.

The girl who sat next to me slouched in her chair glaring at me. She was pathetic. “What are you looking at bitch?”

I sighed already sick of her. “Absolutely nothing.”

“I’ll bet you take a ride on that delectable body before the semester is up.”

I shuddered. “Doubtful, I’m not like you. I won’t spread for anything with a penis.”

I grabbed my bag, sent her one last glare, and walked away. She must have had a thing for Wyser because she was awfully pissed I was partnered with him. When I dropped my bag by the desk and plopped down he raised a brow.

“Problem with your own kind?”

I waved it off. “It’s nothing new on my end. Apparently she has a thing for you because she is certainly pissy I got partnered with you.”

He nodded and sat back. “I’ve seen her around. She’s one of those who want to fuck one of us because it’s ‘risky’.”

I didn’t bat a lash at his language. “Ah, so you have groupies. How very cool for you.”

He leaned forward and tapped his finger on my desk shaking his head. “Not my thing. The others may like it, but you’ll learn I’m not like the others. I’m pickier than that.”

The way his eyes traveled over my body didn’t go unnoticed, and I glared to cover up my unease. He was too confident and a cocky little bastard.

The professor’s TA slid a paper on my desk and the professor’s drone voice snapped Wyser’s attention from me.

“The paper my assistant gave you is the semester’s list of assignments, instructions, and due dates. You’re adults now. I don’t need to babysit you. If you choose not to show up to class anymore that’s you’re problem, but you better hope you find someone who cares enough to take notes. Things will speed up now, and I expect you to be able to keep up. Good luck.”

Wyser slid his hand across my desk and brushed my arm with his fingers when he picked up the paper. I ignored the way my stomach fluttered by that one single touch. I was not affected. That’s what I would keep telling myself if I had to.

“Looks like we get to spend a lot of time together. Where do you want to work? I don’t like to procrastinate, and the more we get done early the better for both of us.”

He looked the paper over. “Well, I’m in a room with two other guys who are not nearly as polite as me. They’ll hound someone like you until you are forced to rip them a new one.”

Humor danced in his eyes and I rolled my eyes. “I guess you saw my earlier—release of anger?”

“Honey, I think the whole school knows about that, and I just arrived on campus today.”

My back straightened. “My name is Hannah, not honey, not baby, not sweetie, and certainly not any other pet name you might think is cute—” I face him and glared. “Got it?”

He leaned closer, too close and whispered, “And my name is Wyser, not Noxi, or freak, or freaky bastard—” he licked his lips and glared right back. “I think we’re clear on what’s acceptable and not?”

I sighed. “I’m not a bigot,” I said. I didn’t want to be, but with how I was raised, and I certainly had to retrain my own brain.

He leaned back and chuckled. “Sure, says the girl who was raised by Eli Nichols.”

I gasped.

“Yeah, I know who you are. I’ve heard things already. But I’ll tell you this right now. I won’t take your close minded hate, but I also won’t judge you by who your father is if you don’t judge me by my species. There are exceptions to everything in life.”

My cheeks burned with anger. How dare he assume anything about me? Now it was my turn to lean into his space. “Hey you jerk, I hate equally. It’s got nothing to do with race—or species. I may be Eli’s daughter, but other than my temper and possible bad attitude I’m not like him. I left to get away from the shit that’s been ingrained into my brain my whole life. I don’t know what you’ve heard, but here is the first thing you need to get clear—don’t listen to every fucking thing you hear. You’ll get a crap ton of misinformation.”

By the time I’d finished my angry rant he was smiling, and I knew he got me riled on purpose. I sat back with a huff and crossed my arms. I usually was able to keep my cool better than that.

“Calm down, Hannah, I was giving you shit, but there are a lot of rumors floating around about ‘the Hannah Nichols’. I wasn’t sure if you were aware.”

“I am, but I don’t care what people think of me.”

“Clearly not,” he said and his voice screamed of sarcasm.

“New subject. How about we just study like normal students at the library.”

He shrugged. “Whatever you want, princess.”

Oh he was going to test my temper, already I felt my anger boiling over the surface, but it was mixed with another feeling I choose to ignore. His smile was driving me nuts, and already I wanted wipe it right off of his face.

Chapter 4

Wyser

The bell rang and Hannah stood so fast her desk rocked. I grabbed her hand without thinking and she gasped yanking it from me. Her eyes were wide, and I couldn’t hold back my groan. Her skin was soft, and her wide green eyes looked so innocent.

“Please don’t touch me,” she ground out through clenched teeth.

I should have been offended, but I didn’t think my touch freaked her out because I was a Noxi, I think it had to do with the fact that I was part of the male species, and she seemed to hate men.

“Sorry,” I replied and I was. I didn’t go out of my way to make people uncomfortable it just happened naturally. It was a gift. “I was goin’ to ask if you wanted to meet tonight to get started. I have to keep my grades up or my mom will yank my ass out of school. She already doesn’t want me here.” I didn’t come to college just for the fun of it. I wanted an education. Noxiums loved to learn and we prided ourselves on intelligence.

She stared as if she was trying to figure out if I was serious or not and I chuckled. “I’m not messin’ with you.”

“Sure, it has to be later though. I have classes until eight.”

“Whenever is good with me.”

“Sure okay, but the library closes at ten so we won’t have long unless we work in the dorms.” She blushed as if she realized how she sounded. “I didn’t mean—”

“Stop, its fine, I know you didn’t mean anything.” She was too easy. It was going to be fun messing with her. For a girl with such a tough ass reputation she sure seemed flustered. “We can hang in my room. I can kick the other guys out.”

“No that’s okay I have my own room. Girls don’t like me, so I’ve been lucky enough to have my own space.”

I raised a brow. “Okay where’s it at? I’ll meet you there at what, 8:30?”

“That’s fine, room 302Ab. It’s the second floor of the female’s building.”

“Okay, see you later Hannah,” I said and stood grabbing my bag from the ground. I sauntered away, and this time it was Hannah who watched me walk away. I felt her stare and her confusion. She didn’t want to be interested in me, but she was. It was the same way I felt; only I liked it. It was a new feeling—exciting. I’d never really liked someone, at least not at first meeting. She was special, and I was going to take every advantage of having her as my partner all semester.

I went back to my room and fell on my mattress. I lay on my back with my arms behind my head and stared at the ceiling. It was going to be a long ass day. I didn’t have any classes, and the rest of the day would be waiting for tonight. I was looking forward to spending time with her. Getting to know her like the professor instructed. His assignments gave me the best excuse to ask as many questions as I wanted.

* * * *

I sat under the stars relaxed. My eyes were about to shut when a figure approached. She was beautiful, and the tiny maroon dress did nothing to cover up her ample curves. My eyes traveled down her body and lingered on the dip of her waist to her hips, and then back up to her tits. The fabric was sheer and her nipples pebbled out begging to be tasted. I sat up and crooked my finger at her. She smiled and came towards me. The wind blew strands of her strawberry blonde hair across her cheek. She pushed them back behind her ear, and then her hands were on my shoulders. She pushed me back onto the grass. My clothes were gone and the feel of her hands was intoxicating. She ran the tips of her fingers down my chest as she climbed on top on me. Her legs straddled mine, and I groaned when I felt the thin fabric of her barley there panties rub across my cock.

In an instant I was hard. She leaned her chest against mine and her tits brushed my skin. I slipped the straps of her dress from her shoulders slowly, and she shivered rubbing against me. I felt her panties dampen and groaned. She wanted me as much as I wanted her. “I want you naked, princess.”

She nodded, and then I felt nothing but soft warm flesh over me. I gasped when I felt her pussy. She was bare, and I wanted so badly to sink inside of her, but not yet. First I wanted to worship her.

I flipped her onto the ground and she gasped. “Touch me,” she pleaded. Never before had I heard anything sexier.

I kissed her lips and tasted caramel. Her lips were soft, and she opened for me without any resistance and then her fingers gripped my hair, holding me close. I rubbed my dick against her slit and shook with need when her essence coated me. The scent of our arousal filled my senses and the beast inside of me raged. I wanted—so bad, and I wanted her.

She kissed me again, and when her tongue met mine I gripped my cock and rubbed the head against her clit. She gasped and lifted her hips ready to take me. But then her eyes shot open.

“I can’t, not yet.”

“Why not?” I mean we were so close. My hands shook holding myself back from driving into her and making her mine.

“I’m a virgin…”

My eyes shot open and I sat up shaking with lust. “Fuck,” I said and ran my hands through my hair. I licked my lips and tasted caramel. It was so real. When I looked at the clock I saw it was well after ten. Shit she was waiting on me, and I’d already messed up. I stood her up, and if I had learned anything about females, they didn’t like to be stood up, and I was going to pay hell.

I looked down and realized I still had an erection. There was no way I could go see the girl I’d just fantasized about and not get hard again. That wouldn’t help my case if I popped a hard on. She didn’t seem like the type of girl to get excited about a guy’s appreciation of her. I needed to take care of the issue before I had to apologize. No one was home so I did the only thing I could to ease the ache in my balls. I jerked off and images of a naked Hannah ran through my head. It didn’t take long, no surprise. After spending time with Hannah, I needed to figure out if it was just a typical dream, or if it was something more.

Chapter 5

Hannah

I shot up in my bed panting when there was a loud knock on my door. It only got louder when I didn’t answer it right away. I looked at the clock and realized how late it was, and I also realized he already didn’t show. I should have known he would blow me off. I shook my head and wiped my face. The dream—it was so real. My body shook with something—something I had never felt before.

I’d never had a sex dream before. I had never gotten aroused, not to that extreme. Boys didn’t excite me; at least they never had before. My heart pounded and I was breathing heavily. I tingled and throbbed as if my body was searching for something. I knew what it was, but I was in no way ready to admit what I wanted from my new Noxi friend. I shook my head and kicked those thoughts right out of my thoughts.

I threw my covers off and looked down at my attire and groaned. “Give me a minute.”

My nipples were hard and ached and when I slid my silk robe on I gasped when the fabric rubbed across them. I stormed to my door and pulled it open without thinking.

Wyser stood there with his mouth opened as if to speak but he froze and his eyes widened.

“You’re too late. I don’t appreciate being stood up.” I went to slam the door feeling irrationally angry.

He held the door with his shoe. “Wait Hannah, please.”

It was the please that got me, and I gripped the knob with both my hands.

“I’m sorry I fell asleep. I swear I was going to be on time.”

I narrowed my eyes. “Well you weren’t, and I sat here waiting. I could have done something else, but since I expected you I didn’t.”

He slid his hand to mine and ran his finger over my knuckles. “I said I’m sorry. For real. I didn’t think I was so tired, but if you didn’t know Noxiums sleep—a lot.”

I softened to him. He was sincere. I wasn’t sure how I knew but I did, and as my heart throbbed remembering the dream I blushed. My cheeks heated, and I knew they were red. He noticed and smiled. “What’s with the blushing? Having erotic dreams about me already?” He sounded like he was joking but his eyes told a different story.

I blushed worse and sputtered. “NO!” I went to slam the door, and he stopped me again.

“Whoa, it was a joke.” He was lying. How the hell did he know?

“I’ll see you Wednesday in class. We’ll have to set up another time to work on our projects.”

He shook his head. “Why not tomorrow?”

I shrugged a shoulder and the robe slipped down showing my bare skin. His eyes tracked the move and he licked his lips. Dammit he really needed to not look at me like that. Not after the dream. “Eyes up here, Wyser,” I said roughly.

“And as for tomorrow I’m busy.”

“Just give me an hour.”

I shook my head. I needed him gone before he realized that I could barely breathe with him so close. “I don’t think so.”

He pushed the door opened and stepped into my room. I don’t know why I didn’t stop him, and then he crowded against me. I realized his breathing was as harsh as mine. He ran his thumb across my jaw and then brushed my hair out of my face. “It was real,” he whispered and then before I knew it he brushed his lips on mine.

Shocked to the core. That’s what I felt. No one had ever kissed me before, and as for how first kisses should go, I say he got it right. I tried to find my buried anger, but I was grasping at nothing when he kissed me again. I hadn’t hit him the first time so he probably assumed it was okay—it was. My body shook with nerves when he shut my door and wrapped his arms around my waist pulling me against his hard body.

I gasped, and he took advantage and slid his tongue in my mouth. I thought it would have disgusted me, but I moaned and ran my hand up his chest pulling him closer instead of shoving him away like I should have.

When he pulled back his eyes shined, but then they widened and his hands fell from my body before he backed away and licked his lips never taking his eyes off of me.

“I have to go,” he said and opened the door and left me standing in my room confused and thoroughly lost. I brought my fingers to my lips and groaned.

What the hell just happened? I wasn’t that girl. I didn’t get all giggly about boys. I didn’t swoon when they kissed the breath out of me. I didn’t tingle in places I shouldn’t just because they touched me in the sweetest way, and I certainly didn’t get upset when they left me hanging. Nope, that wasn’t who I was, and as soon as the shock wore off I would build my resolve again. Wyser wouldn’t break through my walls. He caught me off guard, and I wouldn’t allow that to happen again. Cold Hannah was back. I’d work with him because I had to, but there would be no thoughts of him. No girly desires and certainly no more erotic dreams. I was Eli Nichols’ daughter for hells sake. I was the ultimate bitch with the bad ass reputation. I wasn’t the girl who fell in love with the—incredibly sexy bad boy Noxi. I closed my eyes and sighed. I had a feeling I was in a lot of trouble. I didn’t think Wyser was going to let me off the hook so easily. He seemed like the type of guy who was stubborn and always got what he wanted.
