Funny how caring about people can change priorities like that.

Riley didn

t even have to call in sick since we wrapped everything up. And by the time I got home from filling out all the paperwork needed for the case, he and Tristan had almost finished unpacking the rest of the house. I was so appreciative I took care of dinner. No, I didn

t cook. I could cook, well, grill actually, but I was too tired. I called and paid for delivery. That was my contribution.

Someone, somehow
,
got a photo of me kneeling by Bob

s dead body, naked, with his blood on me. Sure they blacked out the private parts, but it was still more than I ever wanted to see of myself in the Chicago Sun
-
Times in color. Chief Monroe and the FBI were having a field day tearing them apart over it. And I

m sure Monroe

s bosses are chewing him out as to how it even happened.

It

s embarrassing but, other than that, I refuse to dwell on it. I can

t change what happened and what I did saved lives. Some idiots want to focus on the fact I ended up naked when it was over…
They can kiss my assets.

We never got a name for Bob. His prints didn

t show up anywhere besides at other crime scenes over the years. No database,
not
even Interpol

s, had him in their records. So Bob he was, and, to be honest, the mystery of who he was doesn

t intrigue me. He was a bad guy, plain and simple. Now he was dead and his senseless killing
s
would stop.

Engle, as always, was an ass, sending me flowers to congratulate his
Alpha Bitch
on her success. He was proud the way it reflected on him and his pack. Tristan and Riley had to practically tackle me to keep me from driving over to Engle

s house and kicking his ass. Yeah, that situation needed to be handled
real
soon. I just haven

t figured out how yet.

On a better note, I finagled a top certified gun instructor to teach a basic safety and shooting class for my office next week. It wouldn

t have them all qualified by the end of it, but at least I wouldn

t worry that any of them would shoot themselves when they practiced alone. I am giving them time but everyone in that office understands that they have to pass their gun qualifiers.

Monroe agreed with me on making it mandatory if they were going to be field agents. With the job we did and the dangers of being a paranormal, my people needed to know how to handle themselves. No ifs, ands, or buts.

Oh, and Noah talked to Vlad about the expo fight I agreed to. They are both
way
too excited for me not to be scared. They promised to give me at least a week

s notice, but it seems to be all anyone can talk about. I have a sinking suspicion I might have bit off more than I can chew on this one. But since the full moon is in less three weeks and Noah wants to be my moon mate for then, I don

t think I have long to find out.

Fuck a duck.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Growing up on the northwest side of Chicago, Erin is a loyal Cubs fan, but she also admits to being a die-hard Green Bay Packers girl. From target practice to candle making, she enjoys an eclectic list of hobbies that feed her outgoing and creative personality.

Feeling unfulfilled with her life in corporate America, Erin decided to pursue her true passion, and her first novella was published in May 2010 under the pseudonym Joyee Flynn. To date, she has published over 70 books in the erotic romance genre, and her dedicated readers eagerly await each installment to her numerous bestselling series. Wanting to give her characters a bit more action, mystery, and adventure, Erin decided to branch out from romance and her Joyee pen name to create successful, strong, independent women with a paranormal twist.

Living near the Rocky Mountains, Erin spends her days curled up on the overstuffed chair with a Mountain Dew and her 8 year old Weimaraner, Marius, at her feet, telling the stories her characters whisper in her ear.  Her love of the written word hasn’t changed much over the years. The only difference is that she no longer has to hide in her closet to read after bedtime.
