Our world is held together by many ties,
whether it is communication links, cultural similarities or trade agreements.
If there is a breakdown, or misunderstanding in any of these areas, the results
can be far-reaching. In some cases, it could lead to conflict between nations,
and war.
We are also interconnected by our economies
and financial institutions. With countries dependant on borrowing money from banks,
and central banks using interest rates to help stimulate growth, there is a
potential for a spiral of collapse to be created. If interest rates are too
low, then there’s the risk that banks won’t be making enough profit to finance
personal, business, or government demands. This would result in a slowing of
the economy and quite possibly another reduction in interest rates by central
banks. The cycle could potentially repeat itself until the flow of money is
stopped, and the collapse of international economies is seen world-wide.
The failure of banking institutions and
national economies could trigger world collapse and chaos. If there were an
alien threat bent on controlling our world, banks would be one of the first
areas for them to target.

Cynthia Clement is an award winning and
bestselling author who began writing stories in her teens, but it wasn’t until
her forties that she became serious about writing. She believes in second
chances, exploring new ideas, and bringing the impossible to life.
She lives in Canada with her husband of
thirty-two years, her teenaged son, and two dachshunds. She has an eclectic
