“They won’t be back.”

Syn nodded and walked into the other outer area. “You can come in now.” Alexa gave him a look like he was her whole world.

“What?”

“I’m so proud of you.” She hugged him and walked into the huge cavern. “Any idea who is behind this?

Two males walked into the cavern; they were well over seven feet tall.

“No need to guess. We are behind this. Thanks for coming; it makes things easier—no need to track the dragon and his mate.”

“They are Selins,” Syn spoke letting Alexa would know who they were.

They were a soft yellow looking like they needed just a little more sun. Other than their skin and height they could have been considered very attractive and fit in. They had muscular bodies and features some male models would kill for.

“Why?” Mace asked.

“He will set us free. Give us power and allow us to walk in the other world. We won’t be looked at as freaks.”

“You’re not freaks. It’s easy for people to see something different and judge, but I am learning it’s how you feel about yourself that matters. Mutufa will kill you after he is done using you. He won’t share power, people like that never do,” Alexa said. “You don’t have to believe him you know. I’m sure you’re welcome to be a part of the society here.”

“You’ve always been welcome to be part of our society.” Syn spoke up and looked at Maceo for conformation.

“Shut up and move over towards the wall. Once the dragons are dead, everything will be better. They’re the ones keeping us from becoming part of mainstream society.”

They walked backwards until they were against the wall.

“I’m not going to allow you to kill my mate.”

“How are you going to stop us? If you managed to stop us more will come, we aren’t the only ones.”

“You’re simply the passionate ones. The ones who don’t want to murder and kill. You simply want to be acknowledged as part of society.”

“A society that you barred us from.” One of the males rounded on Syn accusing him.

“No, I won’t take the blame for that one. Look to your elders; they believed they were much too good to be hidden here in this little pocket of the world. They forbid your people from joining our society. Withholding both your friendship and your abilities although we have always needed both. You were always free to leave but your elders knew the truth; you would be looked at like an oddity in the other world. Here you could be yourselves, but they longed to be part of the outside world even though they know you won’t be accepted there. None of us will be accepted.”

“Yet you went out there to retrieve your mate!”

“And I came right back. How many days do you think I would get before my dragon demanded to be set free to explore? How many?” Syn’s face turned red as he dealt with the Selin.

“It would not matter, even if I spared your lives the others will hunt you down,” one of the Selins spoke.

“Then my brothers and I will deal with the others. The question is will we have to deal with you.”

The Selin gave a short nod indicating yes. “If I allow you to leave our lives will be forfeited.” He glanced over to his silent partner.

“On the other hand, if you are as confident as you say you are…” He shrugged.

Shaking his head, he spoke to his brother.
“Don’t kill them.”

“That’s a sound plan. Let’s let the crazy Mutufa loving and worshipping Selins go while they try and kill us!”

“That’s the sprit, spread the word.” Syn gave him a mental grin.

Mace ducked when an arc of power flew his way. George and Tamia pulled balls of light from the air and tossed them at the Selins singeing them but not truly harming them.

“Leave the cavern,” Syn ordered Alexa, George and Tamia. He changed into his dragon as they disappeared through the opening. A belch of fire came out as the others raced out the door the teens used. The black magic on one side of the cave erupted into a firebomb, sizzling as his fire consumed it.

The Selins ran leaving the cave. With one more massive belch of fire, the cavern was engulfed in it. Syn changed forms walking through his fire using the same exit as his mate.

“What happened?” Alexa came up to him, rubbing his shoulders.

“I bought us some time. Nothing remains in that cave. Whoever the mastermind behind this is, he will not be stopped for long. All I know for sure is that the Selins are not a real threat to us.”

“Would have been nice if they told us who was behind the whole thing.”

“I don’t think they could have even if they wanted to. I am sure they were spelled.”

It was a long hike back to their vehicle.

“What do we do now?” Tamia asked from the front seat next to George.

“Maybe the Oracles have another clue,” Alexa said, looking around the vehicle

“If they do, they will come to you. It’s much safer if they come to you, sometimes their knowledge comes with a price.” George gave a grimace and lapsed into silence.

“Now we go home, we’ve all had an eventful day. We know there is someone in our slip of paradise helping Mutufa. Why? No one knows. Whoever it is won’t stay dormant for long. They will be upset when they learn I destroyed their place of worship and want revenge. We need to be ready.”

George pulled near to the base of Maceo’s mountains and stopped. Maceo got out. He bowed deep to the women, said goodbye, and disappeared into the trees. Soon there was a large dragon flying towards the peak of his mountain.

Syn got out and helped Alexa leave the jeep. “We will pick up the basket another time. The jeep is still parked in front of the recreation hall we will have to get it later also.”

Syn and Alexa disappeared into the trees. He swapped forms and knelt waiting for her to climb his back. Once she was on, he took off through the sky.

She wished she could communicate with him. She leaned over and wrapped her arms around his neck. Her ribs pinched and the muscles in her legs ached. Thoughts of a long bath soothed her. Images of Syn soaking with her made her hot and bothered. It was time to tell him about her parents and make some decisions.

The Selins bothered her as their faces drifted before her. Someone had capitalized on their misery, their feeling of being isolated in a world of people. They were targeted because they were lonely. Syn would have to find a way to make peace with their elders and include the Selins in day to day life here. If one group of people were in danger, then any group could become a target. There would be no stopping the people behind this with a threat or dragon’s fire.

Chapter Twenty

“You always did like a hot bath.”

Why wasn’t she surprised by the witch’s visit? The one who was pretending to be her mother. Probably because she had been waiting patiently for her to reappear.

“Just what a daughter likes. Her pretend mother barging in the bathroom when she’s about to get naked.”

“I didn’t barge I slipped through the closed door. You’re just upset because it’s me and not Syn.”

Ok, she had a point there. Not that she was going to tell her that. But having Syn in here when she got naked would have been a lot more fun.

Alexa settled her hip on the side of the tub and waited for her mom to speak.

“Alexa.”

The witch sounded just like her mother making her heart pound. She wanted to hold her mom so bad. To just be able to tell her the whole story and get some advice. How easy it would be to give into this woman and pretend she was the mother who raised her.

“I don’t know why you’re doing this but you should know I’m going to tell Syn that you’re pretending to be my mother.”

“Good, I can’t wait to see his face the next time I pop in. If he has any sense at all, he’ll believe me. I know it’s been hard for you and my appearing here, unable to unveil myself to you, is traumatic. All I ask is that you continue to have faith.”

“Faith? Do you know what I’m going through? I feel like I have the weight of the world on my shoulders. Even now I am condemning my real parents to a fate worse than death to be with the man I…don’t talk to me about faith.” Alexa ran her hand through her hair before shaking her head.

“You say you’re here to help me. Is there anything I should know?”

“Look to the fire, Alexa. You’ll know what it means when the time comes.”

The witch floated over to her and gave her a hug she couldn’t feel.

For one minute, Alexa allowed herself to encircle the woman as if she believed it was her mother.

She wiped at an unruly tear she wouldn’t be telling anyone about, then began undressing. Parents, at least hers, always did the unexpected. A hot shiver went down her back. She turned to find Syn leaning against the doorframe watching her.

“Hey, are you looking for something?” Her voice came out seductive and husky.

He really did look like sin standing there with his legs crossed, the muscles in his arms bulging. Suddenly, all she could think of was seeing those arms with tiny rivulets of water streaming down them followed by her tongue as she tried to lick him dry.

“I’ve found everything I need. Any room in that tub for more than one?”

“Only one way to find out.”

She bent over and shimmied out of the pants she was wearing, letting him to catch a glimpse of her rear before placing one foot over the tub and disappearing into the hot water.

A groan of satisfaction left her lips as she was comforted by the warm watery fingers.

“Don’t make that noise.” His voice was harsh as if listening to her pushed him over his boundary of endurance.

“Come in.” She channeled her inner water nymph and pushed herself up allowing the water to roll off her body.”

Then it was his turn to make a harsh noise before he ripped his shirt off in his haste to get naked. Next came the pants, he removed them with trembling fingers.

She sat back looking at him with pride. The knowledge that her strong man was trembling at the sight of her made her feel good. He wanted, no needed her as much as she needed him. This wasn’t about her giving and him taking. He was just as much a victim and a victor as she was.

He walked to the tub on strong legs. Muscles shifting made her mouth water as he walked and yet she shouldn’t keep her eyes off his cock. It was thick and strong, standing out from his body as it declared itself more than capable of being whatever she needed.

The desire to wrap her hands around him and hang on for dear life as she spread her lips around it was thumping in her chest. She never wanted to do that before. It had never even been one of her fantasies, but now, seeing him, so proud and unashamed, it was. She wanted to.

“Syn.” His name caressed her mouth as her needy little tongue licked her dry lips.

She flipped, kneeling in the tub as he came to a stop just inches before her mouth.

“Alexa.” He reached out, his fingers drifting through her hair as he tugged on her head a little, bringing her so close to his cock. She could feel the warmth of it on her cheek.

“I want to…”

“Do whatever it is. I want you to also.”

All thought of conversation fled her head as her tongue took a tentative swipe of his thick head tasting his essence for the first time. A sound of need left her lips as the taste of him worked its way down her throat into her belly. She wanted more.

Raising her hand, she caressed his shaft. The humming sound he made as she did it brought a lust-filled smile to her face. He was loving it. His body vibrated with the sound. She opened her mouth and took the head of his cock in and sucked.

Her head swam with the taste of him. Nothing could be this good. His eyes went wide as he looked down at her. He wrapped her hair around his fist, fighting to hold his body still as his hips tried to thrust deeper into her mouth. The humming intensified as if he was telling her how good she was at this.

She pulled away from him. His hand in her hair made her scalp tingle but she didn’t care. The small pain made her even hotter for him. Her tongue wrapped around the crown like he was whipped cream and she had to lap him up. The humming gave way to a moan and pleasure that ripped from his lips.

Her laugh came out dark and sensual as she licked him from the crown of his cock to the base. Then she gave a muffled noise as she found his balls. Opening wide, she sucked one into her mouth getting a low pitched noise of encouragement from him.

His balls were so sensitive and she loved how they moved within his sac; she could play with them forever but his thick hardness pressed against her cheek and she could not forget it.

Angling her head, she licked him from his balls up to the crown of his head before she encircled his head and opened her mouth to take in more of him.

She could feel him now deeper in her mouth. If she pushed just a little, he would be in the back of her throat gagging her. She eased up, sucking on him, wishing, wanting to take him deeper. Taking in just a little more of him, her movements shaky, she stroked his cock with her mouth.

Her breathing came out in tortured tiny sounds around his cock that was turning her on even more. The desire to feel him penetrating her was so deep she throbbed at the thought of it. Still she sucked on him as if her life depended on it.

Thoughts of his goodness spilling over her tongue made her continue. To see his head thrown back and feel his legs shake as he declared her the most powerful person in the room was an aphrodisiac. Her mouth suckled him harder.

His hand tightened even more in her hair as she slowly pulled away from his cock. She had never seen anything like it in her life. It gleamed from where she had worked it. The poor head seeped begging her to use her tongue on him. She tried but he stepped back.

“You keep this up and I won’t be any good to you for a while.”

“I’ll wait.”

“I won’t. Some other day I’ll teach you how I can eat you for hours, not that it takes that long for me to come back. Couple of minutes at the most, but I’ll eat you for hours, dragging orgasm after orgasm from you.”

“I want that.” Her voice was shaky as she moved back from the side of the tub. His hand was still entangled in her hair. She looked up with wide eyes as he tugged on it causing a sweet pain that she was still trying to decide if she liked. His fingers loosened and he caressed her scalp before she moved back enough to let him in.
