Teddy
quickly
dove
in
front
of
Queen
shielding
her
like
a
super
hero
as
she
cradled
Paul's
head
in
her
lap.

Logic
and
three
others
tackled
the
shooter
as
his
gun
jammed
and
refused
to
fire.

Thank
God
it
did,
because
it
was
aimed
right
at
Teddy.

Logic
knocked
out
the
shooter
with
one
punch.

It
was
Stacey,
Damian’s
younger
brother.

Everything
seemed
to
move
in
slow
motion
to
Queen.

With
everything
that
was
going
on
around
her
she
had
one
and
only
one
concern,
Paul.

Queen
knew
that
the
two
shots
that
hit
him
both
produced
fatal
wounds.

One
pierced
his
heart
and
the
other
pierced
his
spine.

Still,
he
managed
to
smile
as
he
gazed
into
Queen's
beautiful
eyes.

"Mye
Beloved
Queen,
you
are
an
alluring
thing
of
beauty."

He
smiled.

"You
know,
I
thought
I'd
never
get
my
head
in
your
lap
again,"

He
joked.

"I
love
you.

You
know
that
right?

I
never
stopped
loving
you
and
I
always
will,
love
you."

She
declared
as
she
fought
back
tears
and
kissed
his
face.

"I
know.

I
love
you
too,
Mye
Queen."

He
answered
as
he
started
to
fade.

"Look,
take
care
of
Teddy
for
me.

Keep
him
out
of
trouble.

Okay?

You're
the
only
one
left
that
can
control
him."

"I
will.

Just
save
your
breath.

The
ambulance
is
on
the
way.

You're
going
to
be
fine.

You'll
be
right
here
to
help
me
keep
him
tame."

"Logic's
a
good
man,
Queen.

He's
good
for
you.

I
can
trust
him
to
take
care
of
you."

"Paul
please....

Don't
talk
like....

Just
hold
on.

Oh
God
please...
Somebody
help
me!"

Queen
started
to
unravel
as
she
realized
that
he
was
rapidly
slipping
away.

"Help
me
somebody!

Help
me!"
She
streamed.

Paul

s
hazel
eyes
pierced
hers
and
he
looked
right
through
her
as
he
drew
his
last
breath
and
slipped
away.

Teddy
and
Logic
ran
over
to
help,
but
there
was
nothing
that
anyone
could
do.

Queen
released
a
blood
curdling
scream
when
she
discovered
that
he
was
gone.

"Get
her
out
of
here
Logic."
Teddy
cried
as
he
closed
Paul's
eyes.

Teddy
held
his
best
friend
in
his
massive
arms,
moaning
and
groaning
like
a
wounded
animal.

His
heart
was
heavy,
his
spirit
was
broken
and
he
knew
that
he'd
never
be
the
same
again.

Logic
and
Dorian
somehow
managed
to
drag
Queen
and
Jade
away
from
the
scene.
Jade
was
in
shock
and
inconsolable.

Queen
was
so
distraught
that
she
could
not
walk.

Logic
eventually
had
to
throw
her
over
his
shoulder
and
carry
her
kicking
and
screaming
through
the
crowd.

She
refused
to
leave
Paul

s
side.

"Baby,
I'm
sorry.

I'm
so,
sorry,
but
we
got
to
get
out
of
here."
He
kept
saying
as
he
fought
back
tears
and
emotions
of
his
own.

Queen
did
not
respond.

Her
spirit
was
severely
hurt
and
her
soul
was
mortally
wounded.

It
felt
like
her
heart
had
just
been
sucked
from
her
chest.

She
was
brokenhearted
and
quickly
begin
to
withdraw
from
reality.

Logic
tried
as
hard
as
he
could
to
comfort
her,
but
comfort
and
peace
had
escaped
way
beyond
her
grasp.

Paul
was
dead
and
Queen
was
absolutely
devastated.

CHAPTER
34

It
had
been
over
two
weeks
since
Paul
was
murdered.

The
funeral
was
a
blur
to
Queen.

Although
her
body
was
there
she
was
somewhere
lost
in
the
chaos
of
her
mind.

It
was
almost
as
if
she
was
being
held
captive
in
a
bad
nightmare
and
daylight
refused
to
come.

In
a
way
it
was
similar
to
the
movie
Ground
Hog
Day.

Every
time
Queen
closed
her
eyes
she
relived
that
horrific
night.

And
each
time
it
replayed
in
her
mind
she
tried
to
change
something.

Something
that
she
hoped
would
somehow
change
the
outcome
of
the
chain
of
events
which
lead
to
the
senseless
murder
of
her
lover
and
her
friend.

But
each
time
the
outcome
remained
the
same.

Paul
lay
dying
in
her
arms,
asking
her
to
look
after
his
best
friend,
Teddy.

The
same
best
friend
who
she
had
enticed
to
betray
him.

Held
captive
by
her
remorse,
guilt
and
shame,
Queen
remained
a
prisoner
of
the
unforgiving
demons
that
haunted
her
every
dream.

Unable
to
shake
the
grip
of
these
gruesome
nightmares
Queen
knew
that
it
was
doubtful
if
she'd
ever
be
able
to
take
care
of
herself
let
alone
Teddy.

There
was
no
way
out
and
Queen
felt
helpless
and
alone.

Each
day
she
withdrew
more
and
more.

Day
by
day
she
became
less
functional.

Queen
was
a
complete
mess
and
Logic
was
worried
and
afraid
that
he
may
lose
her
to
depression
or
even
psychosis.

Alarmed
and
confused
he
confided
in
the
most
unlikely
candidate
on
the
planet.

"Hey
man.

Thanks
for
meeting
me
here."
Logic
said
as
he
welcomes
Teddy
to
his
booth
at
the
TGIF
bar
and
grill.

"I
didn't
want
to
talk
at
the
condo
with
Queen
around."

"Why?

Is
something
wrong
with
Queen?"
Teddy
asked
concerned
as
he
greets
Logic
with
a
firm
hand
shake
and
a
pat
on
the
back.

"No...
I
mean
she's
still
not
herself.

I
don't
know...
I'm
really
starting
to
worry
about
her."

"What's
going
on?

Talk
to
me."

Teddy
urges
as
he
sits
down.

"Hell,
I
don't
even
know
where
to
begin."

"Just
pick
a
spot
and
talk.

If
somethings
going
on
with
Mye
Queen
then
I
need
to
know.

Tell
me
what's
happening."

"Look,
do
you
want
something
to
drink?"

Logic
asks
as
he
signals
the
waitress
to
order
his
second
beer.

"Yeah,
I'll
take
a
Corona."

"Hi.

I
see
your
party
has
arrived.

Are
you
ready
to
order
or
do
you
need
some
more
time?"

The
waitress
asked
Logic
as
she
eyed
Teddy
like
he
was
a
Tasty
Cake.

"Hi
Danielle.

Can
we
get
two
Corona's
and
some
buffalo
wings?

And
we'll
need
a
little
more
time
with
the
menu."

"No
problem.

Unless
there's
something
else,
I'll
be
right
back
with
your
Corona's."

Danielle
said
as
she
winked
at
Teddy.

"Uh...
Danielle
where
did
you
get
that
accent?"

Teddy
asked
as
he
surveyed
Danielle's
humps
and
bumps.

"Mexico,
why
do
you
like
it?"

"Oh
I
love
it."

Teddy
grinned.

"Good,
I
get
off
at
midnight."

"Then
I'll
be
out
front
at
eleven
forty
five."

"Let
me
get
those
Corona's."

"Danielle's
kind
of
cute."

Teddy
observed
as
he
watched
Danielle's
romp
shake
as
she
walked
away.

"Looks
like
I'm
having
Mexican
for
a
midnight
snack
tonight."

"Apparently..."

Logic
nonchalantly
replied
as
he
cruised
the
menu.

"Tell
me
something...

Why
must
you
pick
up
every
stray
pussy
that
rubs
up
against
your
leg?"

"I
don't
even
know...

It's
not
like
I
don't
have
enough
shit
on
my
plate
as
it
is.

So,
what's
the
story
with
Queen?"

"Teddy,
you
saw
her.

At
the
least
she's
clinically
depressed.

She
hardly
talks.

She
barely
eats.

She
doesn't
get
out
of
bed
unless
I
force
her.

Hell
I
got
to
remind
her
to
bathe."
