I walk back in and see Aiden talking to Mike, and I go and stand by him. He seems to be okay. He even smiles occasionally. The afternoon shifts to night, and we all agree to stay together.

We order pizza and eat as a family; the mood has shifted from a somber sad event to a happy, cheerful evening as we have a good night together without any drama or fighting. It’s a relief not to have him here, and that’s the general consensus from everyone. We spend the rest of the night joking and talking about various things and the whole mood is lighter and more fun than the events of the afternoon.

CHAPTER 25

We wake to a loud thud, like something dropping in the kitchen, followed by laughter.

“Morning, beautiful,” he says though a yawn.

“Morning.” I pull out my cell and check the time—nine a.m.

We get up, get dressed, and make our way down to the kitchen where the noise is coming from. We walk in and see everyone sitting around the kitchen table eating pancakes. Everyone is laughing at some joke Chris is telling, and we find an empty seat at the table. Aiden sits on it and I sit in his lap.

“Morning, you two,” Mom says cheerily.

“Morning, Mom, morning everyone,” I say.

Aiden takes a glass and pours some of Nana’s homemade orange juice. He hands me the glass, and I take a sip. Nana comes over to us and plants a stack of pancakes in front of us with maple syrup, berries, and whipped cream; it looks fantastic. I cut the first bite and put it into Aiden’s mouth, feeding him. He smiles as I take the next for myself as we share the stack.

The doorbell rings and we look at each other curiously. Marissa answers the door while we stay in the kitchen, and she ushers in the family lawyer, Jenson Monroe. I look at Aiden confused, and he looks back at me with the same confusion.

“Mr. Monroe, what a surprise to see you here this fine morning,” Callie says.

“Good morning, everyone. Sorry to interrupt your breakfast, but I’m here on behalf of Mr. O’Connell.”

I look at Aiden who shrugs

“I’m here on behalf of Alistair. When he was first diagnosed with dementia, he came to me to draw up a new will. His doctors told him that he had a fast onset, and that he would deteriorate quickly. He was also told that he didn’t have a lot of time to get his affairs in order. I was ordered that under no circumstances was I to change his will, even if he requested at a later date. He knew that he needed to be of sound mind and that the deterioration of his brain would affect the way he’d wanted his affairs to be dispersed. I have his updated last will and testament for you to hear,” he says, pulling out some papers from his briefcase.

Silence fills the room.

“Sarah, Chris, c’mon let’s give them some space,” Mom says, and they leave the room.

Jenson takes a seat and starts to read:

“I, the undersigned, Alistair Patrick O’Connell, residing at 1 Burdette Lane, in the city of Mornington Vale, born on June 2nd, 1950, make my last will and testament as follows.

“I hereby expressly revoke all other wills, codicils, and legacies predating the present will.

“I wish to be buried at the family plot at the Mornington Vale Cemetery.

“I wish to leave assets to the following individuals named hereinafter, in the following proportions:

“To my son, Aiden Alistair Patrick O’Connell, born March 22nd 1984, I hereby leave to you my business and assets from O’Connell Finance Incorporated, and therefore leave the running of said business to you, to run as you see fit, in conjunction with said business in Tokyo, Japan.

“To my son, Blair Patrick Morgan O’Connell, born November 25th 1986, I hereby leave to you my lake house in Valley Springs along with its contents and assets to do with as you see fit.

“To my daughter, Brielle Callie Eleanor O’Connell, born January 31st 1988, I hereby leave to you my main place of residency being 1 Burdette Lane, in the city of Mornington Vale, its contents and assets are left to you to do with as you see fit.

“To my wife, Callie Anne O’Connell, born August 26th 1955, I hereby leave to you the sum of fifteen million dollars to be placed in to your personal savings account on signing of this will and testament.

“I leave the sum of money deposited in my personal bank account, including term deposits and shares to be divided equally between the following:

Eleanor Mary Edwina O’Connell, mother, born August 3rd 1929, for 25%.

Aiden Alistair Patrick O’Connell, son, born March 22nd 1984 for 25%.

Blair Patrick Morgan O’Connell, son, born November 25th 1986 for 25% and

Brielle Callie Eleanor O’Connell, daughter, born January 31st 1988 for 25%.

“All funeral expenses and outstanding exports of funds are to be paid by my insurances upon the event of my death.

“I hereby leave a few words to my family.

“I knew something was wrong with me when I woke up and I didn’t know where I was. The house I was in was empty and no one was in it except for me and I couldn’t understand why, then I remembered. I went to the doctors and had some tests done and they told me I had a fast onset form of dementia. I kept it from you all as I didn’t want to admit that I was sick. So while I still had normal brain function, I made this will and testament, so I knew that everything would be taken care of in the event of my brain failing before my body. I herein leave these parting words to the people I hold most dear.

“To my mother, Eleanor, I know I have sometimes been a hard son to take ownership of, but every day of my life I loved you the way a son should. You were the one who kept me sane through the years growing up and I’ll always remember and respect you for that. Mother, I love you.”

I look at Nana she has tears rolling down her face. Callie puts her arm around her as she wipes a tear from her cheek.

“To Aiden, my boy. I know I’ve raised you with tough love so you will be strong and resilient in times of crisis, and to be the best you can be in your field. I’m sorry for riding you so hard all these years, but I felt with the right push you would became an expert in your field, which of course you have, and for that I’m truly proud. I know that leaving the business to you will only help it grow within your grasp. I’m the proudest father in the world when I look at what you have accomplished, but it is my hope son that you come to your senses and do not marry
her
. As believe me son, it will be your downfall.”

I look at Aiden, he’s scowling at Jenson. I can’t believe even after his death Aiden’s father is still trying to get rid of me.

“To my son, Blair, what can I say? We’ve definitely had our ups and downs, but just because I don’t agree with your life choices, doesn’t mean I don’t care about you. Thank you for pushing me and making me see the world a little differently.”

Guess that’s not the, ‘I apologize for being a moron,’ I was expecting, but Blair seems fine with it.

“To my bright star, Brielle, the epitome of daddy’s little girl. I know I’ve pushed you to be the best you can. I also know you want to move forward with a career in finance and maybe once I’m gone Aiden will give you that opportunity. You were always a bright sparkle in my eye, and I hold high hopes for you to be the best you can be. Look after your mother for me, and spend as much time with her as you can. She loves you just as much as I do.”

That was sweet. She is trying hard to hold back the tears.

“And finally, to my wife, Callie. I know we’ve had many differences over the years, but I’m grateful to have had you in my life. You were never a convenience or a distraction as I so often called you. You were my wife and I loved you from the moment we laid eyes on each other. I’m so proud of you, and how you raised our children, and I’m also proud that you helped me raise them to be the best that they can be. Without you, Callie, my life was empty and I hope to tell you this before I lose myself completely. I understand that I’m a different man now than who I was when you met me. I let my job become the center of my universe instead of you and for that I’m truly regretful. Callie, I’ll always love you, but I wish you every happiness for the future.”

Mike looks at Callie who is seems relieved. Jenson finishes reading out Alistair’s farewell to her.

Jenson puts down the piece of paper and looks at us. “So, there you have it. Are there any questions?”

I glance at Aiden who’s looking around the room. No one says anything.

“If everyone could sign at the bottom of this document, I can start getting this all sorted for you,” he says, handing the document to Blair. He looks at Aiden for guidance. Aiden nods and everyone signs the document.

“We’re done,” he says, and then he gets up and leaves.

“Who wants more pancakes?” Nana asks, breaking the silence.

“Bree gets the house?” Blair asks jokingly, making us laugh again.

“Hey, I worked hard to get this house, thank you very much,” she jokes.

“You get a house, and I live in a warehouse. Go figure,” he says, laughing.

“I’ll swap with you. I love the warehouse,” she says, calling his bluff.

“Oh no, I love my warehouse,” he says with a cheeky grin.

Bree throws a pancake at him, hitting him in the face. We stop and watch Blair for his reaction.

“This is your house now, so you have to clean that up,” he says as he picks up a pancake and throws it back at her. We laugh and eventually everyone leaves as Mike takes Aiden, Callie, and I back to our home.

We walk inside and head straight for the shower. Aiden turns on the water and we step in. The water feels fantastic on my skin. I wet my hair, and Aiden takes my shampoo and lathers it up in his hands and massages my scalp. His fingers feel like heaven on my head. I relax instantly at his touch. He gently moves my hair to help the shampoo wash out; he repeats the same with the conditioner. I turn to him and look into his bright blue smoldering eyes; he smiles and leans in to kiss me. He kisses me passionately and pushes me against the shower wall. I kiss him back and my hands run through his hair. Sometimes when people are in pain they seek forms of pleasure, so I let Aiden seek his pleasure with me. He moves his hand down from my shoulder slowly grazing my breast, side and hip as he moves his hand very slowly down
there
and then gently moves in. I feel his erection growing against me while he leans in closer. I move my hand down to his length and use one finger to trace along the edges of him. His breathing hitches as does mine when he moves his finger and rotates it on my clitoris.

I lean my head back against the wall and feel the pleasure rising throughout my body while he kisses my neck. His finger runs circles around my clitoris and the feeling becomes intense. I move my hand to grasp him and gently pull up and down on his shaft, making him exhale and moan. He moves his hand lower until he reaches my opening and he inserts his fingers slowly easing them in and out of me.

“Oh, Jeni,” he whispers into my mouth as his hips react to my touch. I start to moan as he moves his fingers inside me, using his thumb on my clitoris. Abruptly he pulls his fingers out of me and moves his hands to my ass. He grins mischievously as he lifts me and leans me hard against the cold tile wall. I wrap my legs around his waist, and he plunges himself into me, holding onto my weight using the wall as support.

I moan quite loud when he enters me and the feeling of the hot water flowing down my front, the cold wall at my back and Aiden inside me is sensory overload. I lean my head down to meet his and kiss him sensually while he slowly pushes in and out of me. He moves in slowly and pulls out quickly, then in slowly and out quickly. I hold on around his neck, and my fingers pull gently on his hair. He grips onto my ass tightly as he pushes inside me, and his breathing is becomes erratic. He starts to move quicker at a faster tempo. He’s very deep and the feeling is fulfilling as he moves inside me. Our hips are in motion with each other as he pushes me hard against the wall. My moans become louder as he thrusts in harder and faster.

“Oh, Aiden, harder,” I moan while he rests his head in my breasts, kissing it.

“Ahh, ahh, ahh,” I moan as he thrusts inside me faster and faster. I grip onto his bare shoulders, cutting him with my nails.

“Oh, oh, Jeni,” he muffles while thrusting inside me. His face scrunches in that delicious way and I know he’s close, but he changes the tempo and slows down, surprising me. My breathing slows a little as he moves deeper but slower inside me. He obviously doesn’t want it to be over just yet and is trying to make the pleasure last. He moves his head up to kiss me and then he rotates and thrusts into me, it’s so intense that I start to feel the heat rise within me.

“Jeni, look at me. I want to watch you come,” he says, looking straight into my eyes and smirks. I moan loudly while he continues his slow torturous rhythm, he rotates slowly and thrusts quickly, slowly picking up the pace while my breathing hitches. He quickens his pace, knowing it will send me over the edge.

“Aiiiden,” I moan. He kisses me, thrusting quickly and at an even tempo. The heat floods me, and I moan into his mouth as I orgasm around him. My body shakes and I cry out his name, all the while looking deep into his eyes. I go limp in his arms but he holds me tightly and continues. The feeling is so sensitive and overwhelming as he thrusts into me repeatedly. He moans, and I can tell he’s close. His face scrunches, he moans loudly, and his breathing is erratic. I start to feel the heat rising again, my back arches and my breathing hitches. We both moan loudly as he jolts and I tighten around him as he unloads inside me and we climax together. He rests his head in my neck and I rest mine against his, waiting for our breathing to ease.

He gently steps back from me to take himself from inside me. I wince as he does, and I unwrap my Jell-O like legs from him and place them on the ground. He holds onto me at my waist while I lean against the wall for support, resting his head against mine. The water still cascades over us while he helps me to steady myself against him.

He kisses me softly and backs away, pulling me with him under the water.

“You. Are. Trouble,” he says to me cheekily.
