“This is more fun than I thought it would be.” Jack entered the kitchen with two empty plates as Grace bustled around the space to put the king salmon in the oven.

She had come up with the idea for their first real dinner party a month after they’d reconciled, inviting his coworkers, a few of hers, and a couple of their closest friends. Without pause, she knew it was a great idea. Jack had been a little more skeptical but couldn’t deny her the pleasure of throwing the party.

She sent him an amusing glance. “Oh, really? Why is that?”

“Watching how everyone interacts,” he said, setting down the plates and then opening the oven door for her. “For example, Shelby has been playing it cool with Tom and now he thinks he doesn’t have a chance with her, so he quit his Don Juan act and is now showing his real personality. It’s funny to watch them try and figure each other out.” He closed the oven and began to unbutton his cuffs to roll his sleeves up, keeping his eyes on the guests. “Then there are the Gardners talking to the Hughes about the unexpected pleasures and delights of going to a hedonism resort for their thirtieth anniversary….” Grace stifled the urge to burst out laughing as Jack continued. “April and Lisa can’t stop giggling but won’t tell anyone what’s so hilarious. Doug keeps eating all of the blue-cheese-stuffed olives like they’re candy…and I keep wondering if anyone would miss us if we disappeared for half an hour.”

Grace laughed, circling her arms around his neck, tipping her face up to his, coming in close for a kiss. “Wow, you’re quite the observer.”

“And you’re quite the hostess. This is amazing.”

“Eh, no big deal,” she said, smiling up at him.

The sounds of the party rang in the background: hearty laughter, glasses clinking, deep male voices interlaced with feminine ones, music from the surround sound speakers.

He looked into her eyes. “Happy?”

“Yes.” She simulated a pouty face. “But I’m trying to hide it.”

He chuckled against her lips. “Don’t you dare. It looks good on you. You know, pretty soon it’ll just be me and you and the ocean.”

She beamed. “I love you, Jack.”

Grace’s contract was over in a week and for the past month they’d been taking sailing lessons on Saturdays. Once the show filmed its final episode, they were taking three weeks off to finally give the sailboat its due. Grace couldn’t wait. In fact, she couldn’t wait for a lot of things. To work on her own terms, spend time with her husband and their wonderfully growing group of friends, start a family….

“Hey,” he said, shifting them into a dancing position. “It’s our song.”

She arched a brow as he moved her in a gentle circle, listening to the unfamiliar music for a moment. “We don’t have a song.”

“We don’t? Well, this was the one we danced to when I crashed your fancy party.”

She gave him an amused, incredulous look. “You remember what was playing?”

He bent down with a smirk. The smile in his eyes contained a sensual light. “I remember everything.”

Her mouth curved with a slow smile. “So you keep me reminding me….”

His smile turned into a chuckle as he slowly came closer and tenderly pressed his lips to hers, taking them both out of reality for a moment.

In the end, they were only at the beginning of it all.

~ABOUT THE AUTHOR~

Writing romance is an obsession and a dream for Angelita. As a happy local in Las Vegas, she lives with her own alpha male and when she needs a dry sarcastic male perspective, she asks him. She enjoys volunteering for the ballet, organizing a girls night out, watching for wild horses at Red Rock, and attempting to cook like the French.

Historical romance is her favorite genre to read. If she could travel back in time, she'd attend a ball in Regency England in a fabulously wicked gown, and dance with the most handsome rogue in the room. This shameless romantic loves chocolate martinis, Pin Up Couture, sarcastic wit, and true crime documentaries.

She writes paranormal, fantasy, and contemporary romance and will never stop. Even if there's a zombie apocalypse.
