Since I usually create a book as I’m writing it, without really knowing what will happen until it’s happening, this book was particularly challenging to write, and I feel the need to acknowledge accordingly.

First, thank you to all the readers of
Every Day
who have shared their reactions with me. I think it’s very safe to say that without your meaningful enthusiasm, the story would have ended there.

As always, I want to thank my friends, family, and fellow YA authors for their support. I am always tempted to attempt a full list to back up this acknowledgment, but live too much in fear that I’ll inadvertently forget someone. So instead I will limit myself to the people who have actually shared a house, room, car ride, and/or coffee shop with me as I’ve drafted this book: my parents, Libba Bray, Zachary Clark, Nathan Durfee, Nick Eliopulos, Andrew Harwell, Billy Merrell, Stephanie Perkins, Jennifer E. Smith, Nova Ren Suma, Chris Van Etten, and Justin Weinberger. Joel Pavelski has the distinction of having been with me in Montreal when I began the book and then, a year later, with me in Montreal when I neared finishing it.
