She
was still checking out the room and wondering if she could make it to
her bags to find something comfortable to put on when Jordy's
assistant finally made an appearance.
“Let
me see.” A whirlwind of blonde hair and tanned skin ran into
the room and pulled the blanket off from her feet. “Oh shit!
That's nasty, huh? I'll get you some ice and something for the pain,
but don't tell Jordy because he's waiting to hear back from the Doc.”
Cedric gave her a quick smile, then left the room just as quickly as
he had entered. Morgan's mouth fell open and she stared at the empty
doorway for several seconds.
Cedric
was gorgeous. His blonde hair was so light that parts of it actually
looked white. His pink full lips and perfect teeth played perfectly
against his tanned skin, and eyes lighter than anything she'd ever
seen before. He was thin, and probably stood close to five foot
eight, and his eyebrows were so perfect that they would actually make
Angel envious. “Angel!” She rolled to her side and
reached for her phone, then remembered that she had dropped it into
her coat pocket in the taxi on the way to the house. She had to tell
her Angel about Cedric, because Jordy's assistant was too good
looking to keep all to herself.
Morgan
looked around the room, but it was no use, she knew that her coat was
still on the main floor next to the front door. She could try the
stairs on her own, but would most likely end up scooting down on her
ass, and as Angel would say, that just wouldn't be cute. “Hello?!”
She leaned across the bed and directed the call to anyone who may
hear her, but silence was the only answer she received.
Morgan
pulled the blanket off completely, and started to move her legs to
the side of the bed. “Oh no, you get your sweet ass back in
there! Now take these, and be a good girl.” Cedric handed her
two little pills, then covered her up again. “Whatever you
need, just tell me. If Jordy sees you limping through the house,
he'll piss his panties and yell at my ass.”
Holy
shit! He's a Belgian Angel!
“Actually, I do need
something,” she told him right as he'd turned around and he
whipped back around to face her.
“Yes?”
“My
phone. It's downstairs, in my coat pocket.” Without another
word spoken, the man walked back over to the door and left. He wasn't
nearly as flamboyant as Angel, she noticed. He didn't have the
exaggerated sway of his hips, nor all of the unnecessary hand
gestures and hip thrusts, but she knew Angel would love him and
somehow, they had to talk.
Morgan
took the two pills while she waited for the prince to return, the hot
tea warming her all the way to her stomach. Even though she wasn't a
tea girl, she appreciated the warmth it offered. Also, she had no
idea that the pills he'd given her weren't just regular aspirin. They
were the
good stuff,
even more potent than Sean's little gems.
“Here
you go, baby,” Cedric announced before he'd even made it into
the room, then after a quick hair flick, he handed Morgan her phone.
He was already walking away before she stopped him.
“Wait,
um. Weird question, are you single?”
His
laugh was loud, but quickly stifled by his own hands. He took a few
slow steps back, then sat on the side of the bed and pushed her
blonde hair from her face. “Sweetheart, I'm gay.” It was
Morgan's turn to laugh and he brought his hands up quickly,
fluttering them in the air as if that would help her quiet down.
“Girl, you better quiet that shit down, Jordy-Poo will be back
up here soon.” He flashed his perfect smile, then stood up and
tucked her blanket around her once again.
Morgan
wondered why it mattered if she laughed, but before she could ask, he
gave her an explanation. “Now, pucker that lip out and act like
you're in misery. Jordy's got a big ass heart and he's a man who has
to fix everything, so I'd be working that pain angle and he'll be
sure to make,” he tapped his lip with his finger a couple of
times, trying to get the wording right. Finally, he settled on
keeping it simple. “Let's just say he'll make you feel better.”
He gave her a quick wink and was about to leave when she stopped him
once more. She pulled her phone up in front of her and asked if she
could get his picture.
“I
like to get pictures for my scrapbook,” she told him when he
raised one of his perfect eyebrows in question.
“Wouldn't
you use your camera for that? Anyway, we've got plenty of time for
picture taking, so you just close your green apple eyes and wait for
Do...” Too late. Morgan snapped the picture, then quickly
tucked her phone under her leg and giggled at Cedric's shocked face.
“Hmm, you know, I think you'll do just fine here. Jordy need
someone with a little attitude.” They shared a smile for a few
moments, then when he realized Morgan was all out of questions, he
began to leave the room for the third time. Just as he was walking
out, he gave her a warning that the pills would be kicking in soon,
then she heard him descending the stairs within seconds.
Morgan
pulled her phone out from under her leg, then looked at the picture
she'd taken. Even in the middle of a word, mouth-agape, expression,
the man was still fine. With a few taps of her phone, she sent the
picture to Angel without so much as a word explaining who it was.
“Wow, these are kicking in,” Morgan yawned, then settled
deeper into the fluffy pillow. She hadn't wanted to spend the first
day with her client laid up in a bed, being drugged with high quality
pain killers, but it beat the alternative of touring the grounds in
her bastard boot.
A
few moments of staring at the ceiling and she sat back up. The pills
were sure to make her a little sleepy, but it wasn't enough to just
have her go to sleep. Not when she knew Jordy would be back and
whoever Doc was. As she was about to bring her foot closer to look at
it again, Angel's reply came through.
Jesus,
sweet, sweet, Sticky Buns! Tell me, baby girl, what is this Belgian
beauty's name? You can't just spring things like this on me without
warning a bitch. I nearly put G's eye out.
Morgan
laughed and tried to ask Angel through another text what it was that
nearly put Gio's eye out, but she couldn't get herself under control
enough to type it out. She was on her side, snort-laughing into the
sheet, when Jordy and another man came into the room. She turned
back over slowly to face them, tears of laughter streaming down her
cheeks, and waved at the two men.
“I
see
someone
has already been helping with her pain.”
Jordy looked toward the open door, and half expected to see Cedric
peek his head in. “I think they're broken, Doc.” He
looked to Morgan, who had finally stopped laughing, for permission to
show her foot to the doctor. She nodded, and pulled the blanket from
her legs.
The
doctor didn't say much as he poked at her purple foot, but Morgan
barely noticed the man as she was far too busy staring at her client.
He had changed his clothes, and his tight black long sleeved crew
neck was showing his thick neck and shoulders in a way that made her
wish the old man would leave. Foot or no foot, she planned to get a
lot more cozy with Jordy as soon as she could.
“One
is broken, the other probably feels like it is.” Doc took a
few supplies from his bag and wrapped Morgan's foot, then propped it
up with a few pillows from a nearby chair. He also gave two bottles
of pills to Jordy, one for pain and the other for swelling. “She'll
have to stay off of it for a few days, and keep it up. Ice will help
with the swelling too.” Morgan noticed that the man didn't
speak to her directly, but she still didn't care because Jordy had
stood right next to her.
The
two men finally left, and Morgan was left alone again in the large
room. She was just about to sit up again and text Angel when Cedric
came back to the room. “What can I get you? Oh, and what do
you like... as far as food. I'm going to market.” Morgan's
mind was relaxed, but she was far from the groggy girl that she
suddenly pretended to be. “Jordy eats all that healthy shit,
but I can slip you some good stuff if I know what to get.”
“Hmm..
I can't think right now.” Her voice was low and deliberately
slow. Cedric nodded, he wasn't going to get the information he
needed from the girl. “Wait.. here..,” she handed him
her phone and rolled over in the opposite direction as if she were
going to go to sleep, “find Angel.. my best friend, he'll tell
you.... everything.” Morgan yawned loudly, then pulled the
blanket up to her chin. Cedric stared at the phone, then clicked her
contacts.
“Sweet
mercy... I'll be happy to call Angel.” He obviously had found
her friend's picture on her phone's contacts, and walked out of the
room to call the handsome man.
You're
welcome, Angel.
With her eyes closed, pretending to sleep, she
actually ended up doing just that.
Chapter
Eight
Cedric
pulled the blanket down from Morgan's head, and then continued
pulling it off of her when she still didn't wake up. “Rise and
shine, pretty lady.” She moaned into the arm that she brought
across her face, and started to stretch her legs and feet as he
normally did in the morning.
“Shit!
Motherfuc...!” She sat up quickly as soon as her mind cleared,
which unfortunately was in mid curse. “Sorry.” Cedric
laughed and walked over to the window where he opened the curtains
wide.
“Don't
be sorry, I would be saying a hell of a lot more than that if I were
the one with broken up feet.” She laughed at the man as she
watched him straighten the clean room, and then looked down at
herself as a cool draft crossed her bare skin. The bare skin part of
the equation made her grab the blanket at her knees and cover herself
again. “If you're trying to protect my virgin eyes, you're a
little late for that.” He walked past the foot of the bed
again, and straight to the master bathroom. Morgan opened the
blanket to look down at herself once again.
It
wasn't as bad as she had thought, but she had to laugh at the
selection that someone had made for her sleepwear. Her light purple
spaghetti strap tank, with bright yellow sweat shorts wasn't exactly
the cutest ensemble that could have been chosen from her bags. She
also had to laugh at the tank top again as it was the thinnest and
most see through article of clothing that she owned, even more so
than her thin white sweater. Yes, she thought, the tank was chosen
deliberately, and she wondered which man had done the choosing.
“In
case you're wondering, Jordy undressed your ass and put you in that
mess. And yes, I'm sure he did stare at your naked self the whole
time.” Cedric approached the bed and pulled the blanket off
for the last time, then started to lift Morgan from the bed. She
pushed him away and inched over a bit.
“You
don't have to carry me, I can walk... or limp.” She
appreciated his effort to help, but he wasn't a big man like Jordy,
and there was no way she could expect the smaller man to carry her to
the bathroom.
“I'll
do it.” Jordy came into the room and Cedric smiled at Morgan
as he turned and left. “But he's much stronger than he looks.”
Jordy put his arms under Morgan's back and legs, and easily picked
her up, then held her against him. “And it's true, I did stare
at you while I changed your clothes.” Morgan laughed, and put
her head against his chest as he carried her to the bathroom.
“I
really could have made it here on my own,” she told him as he
set her on the soft carpet in front of the sink.
“I'm
sure you could have, but you're a damsel in distress...”
“And
you're my knight in shining armor?” She stood like a reverse
flamingo with her hands on his chest to keep her balance.
“Something
like that.” He kissed the top of her head, then told her if she
needed anything to give a shout. She told him immediately what she
wanted.
“I'd
like a cup of coffee and that really big pink suitcase out there,”
she smiled sweetly with her request and he nodded, then left her
alone in the bathroom. Morgan immediately turned on the water and
began filling the tub. A hot bath had never sounded better and his
large circular, jet style tub was irresistible.
She
was already neck deep in bubbles when a soft knock at the door caught
her attention. “Come in.” Cedric cracked the door, then
asked if she was decent, but didn't wait for an answer and walked
through the door anyway.
