Chapter 10
“And I dream of you when I awake!”
Katie and Suzanne sang out happily. The girls were sitting in the front row of the Cherrydale Arena on Saturday night. Like everyone else in the audience, they were singing along with the Bayside Boys.
“These seats are amazing!” Suzanne squealed as the guys finished the song.
“I think this is the best night of my life!” Katie shouted back.
As the song ended, Ace waved to the audience. “This next song is dedicated to two amazing fans. They taught us that we need to work together in harmony. Let’s hope the whole world can learn that lesson. Katie and Suzanne, this is for you! It’s our brand-new song, called ‘United.’ ”
Katie couldn’t believe her ears. The Bayside Boys had dedicated a song to them, right in front of everyone. This was a dream come true.
Suzanne thought so, too. “I wish I could see the look on Becky’s face now,” she said. “But I can’t. Because she and Jessica are sitting all the way back there.” She turned and pointed toward the back rows.
Katie laughed. Suzanne would be bragging about this for a long time. Some things never changed.
And maybe that was a good thing. Some things
should
stay the same. Like Katie’s favorite band. They were perfect just the way they were.
“Bayside Boys FOREVER!” she shouted.
Katie’s Kazoo!
Katie loves music. She listens to the radio all the time, and she loves singing along with her favorite songs. She also plays the clarinet in her school band.
You can make music too! Just try building your own kazoo.

You will need:
a toilet paper roll
contact paper
scissors
waxed paper
a rubber band
This is what you do:
1. Cover the toilet paper roll with the contact paper.
2. Ask an adult to punch three small holes in the roll with the scissors.
3. Cut a small square of waxed paper and fit it tightly over the end of the tube.
4. Use the rubber band to secure the waxed paper to the tube.
5. Now hum into the open end of the tube.
Woohoo!
Listen to you. You’re just like Katie Kazoo!
