“Can I have another?” she asked.

“No,” the leader said. “If you eat too much,
you’ll be spoiled for later.” He tore a piece of meat
from the bone in his hand and chewed it, watching her.

Margaux nodded at the goon on the left. “He said there are
other women. Are you going to take us to them?”

“Mayhap tomorrow. Or the next day. The boss needs to get
his fill of you first.”

Her heart sank.

A figure emerged from the darkness and trotted up to the group.
His eyes glowed yellow in the firelight. Something about him made
her skin crawl. This whole group had some aura about it she
couldn’t understand, but it felt like something deeper,
something darker, than just a group of bandits.

“Boss, some more folks made it off the ship.” He
wheezed, clearly out of breath.

Margaux’s heart raced. She slid closer to Giselle.
Yassine!

“Where’s Luckless and Wormfinger?”

“Luckless done caught an arrow,” the new arrival
said. “He’s working his way back. Wormfinger is laying
low and watching. I figured you’d want to know.”

“How’d he catch an arrow? No one coming off that
boat ought to have a bow.”

“He went in close to get a…” He looked at the
girls, then leaned in closer to his leader and whispered in his
ear.

The leader shook his head. “That stupid cur.” He
stood and rolled his shoulders. “Ruddy, you stay with the
wenches. Snivel, Mange, you’re with me.” He looked at
the new arrival. “Lead the way.”

The underlings filed after the new arrival, but the leader
stopped at the edge of the fire light. “Ruddy, the young one
is mine. Don’t spoil her or I’ll be
very
angry.”

Ruddy nodded, his expression eager. “Yes, boss.”

The leader disappeared into the darkness. Ruddy turned to
Giselle. “He didn’t saying nothing about you.
You’re already spoilt.” He forced his way between
Giselle and Margaux and sat.

Margaux tensed. With the others gone, this was their chance. She
coiled her legs under her, ready to fling him into the fire as soon
as he turned his back.

She shoved into him, knocking him toward the flames. Somehow he
caught his balance and pulled his legs under him.

He whirled around and glared. “You’ll pay for that,
princess. Oh yes, you will.” He backhanded her and knocked
her over the log. He leapt after her and was on her before the pain
even hit home. His dark silhouette towered over her.
“You’re mine now.”

“Wait,” Giselle said.

“I ain’t waiting for nothing,” Ruddy said. He
pawed at Margaux’s dress, forcing it up her legs. A feral
growl rose deep in his throat.

“Your boss won’t be happy if you take her,”
Giselle said.

Ruddy growled. “I reckon you’re right.” He
dragged Margaux to her feet. He grabbed Giselle’s arm and
jerked her up, too.

He led them into the cave and flung Margaux down on a mottled
animal skin. The rope they had bound her with before lay against
the opposite wall.

He pointed to Giselle. “Lay down. If you so much as move,
I’ll make you wish you were never born.” He glared at
Margaux. “On your knees, wench.” He jerked her wrists
behind her back. With one hand he held her there, and with the
other he groped her chest. His hands felt rough, even through the
cotton of her dress. The smell of his breath made her gorge
rise.

“You’ll be a fine one when the master is through.
There’s fire in your belly. Be more in your belly by the time
we’re done, though.” He laughed. The rope tightened
painfully around her wrists. He shoved her forward, face down on
the rug. Her ass puckered as he squeezed her cheek and his thumb
pressed against her hole. “Maybe the boss won’t mind if
I take you in the back hole.” He forced his thumb deeper,
making her wince. “Then again, maybe he will.” The
ropes on her ankles tightened.

He slapped her hard on the ass, bringing tears to her eyes.
“Try to push me in the fire, will you?” He smacked her
again, fire spreading from her cheeks. “I’ll talk to
the boss. When he’s through with you, I’ll teach you
some manners, I will.”

He stripped out of his tunic, revealing lithe muscles. He untied
his pants and wriggled his hips until they slid down over his
well-muscled legs. In the dim light of the cave, he moved with
grace that Margaux hadn’t noticed by the firelight. He
prowled forward toward Giselle. His cock hung thick between his
legs, and as he approached the sprawled woman, it grew harder and
more erect.

Ruddy crouched over Giselle. “Take off your dress,”
he growled. She pulled it off over her head and lay back on the
rug. She spread her legs and ran a hand down the inside of her
thigh. Ruddy leered at her nude form, but she only smiled back. His
chest shook as he knelt over her and lowered his body to hers.

Margaux noticed a twinkle in the other woman’s eye. She
was giving in too easily; she had to be up to something. Giselle
pursed her lips as Ruddy entered her. His ass raised up and down as
he thrust in and out of her pussy. The interplay of muscles from
his legs, over the smooth swell of his ass, and up through his
shoulders made Margaux strangely excited. Even his spanking her
didn’t bother her. Her revulsion didn’t evaporate, but
at the same time she felt a twinge of arousal. There was something
feral, something magical when he was nude. She felt like her mind
wasn’t entirely her own.

Ruddy’s back heaved up and down, his panting filled the
cave. Giselle wrapped her legs around him. Her hips bucked into his
thrusts. Margaux wished her hands were free. In her head, she
didn’t see Ruddy at all. She saw Yassine. And it wasn’t
Giselle under him, it was her. She could feel herself getting wet.
She ached to stroke herself, to dip her fingers into her slick
channel.

Giselle whimpered. She clawed her hands across Ruddy’s
back, leaving long red stripes on his skin.

“Ungh,” Ruddy groaned. He threw his hips at her,
grinding himself down into her pussy.

Giselle squealed and her hands clawed at his ass. Ruddy mashed
his mouth into Giselle’s, cutting off her screams. He thrust
again, once, twice, a third time, then he shuddered to a stop and
collapsed onto her, his back still heaving.

Margaux wriggled, trying to get Giselle’s attention. The
other woman finally looked over, the light in her eyes dim. Margaux
jerked her head toward the entrance of the cave.
Should we make
a break for it?
She willed the other girl to understand
her.

Giselle flicked her head ever so slightly back and forth. No,
not yet.

So we wait then. Just don’t make us wait too long.
They’ll be back soon.

After a while, snores rose from Ruddy. They grew quickly until
it seemed like the noise filled the cave. Giselle pulled her hands
in close to her side and slid them under Ruddy’s shoulders.
She pushed against him, but his much larger body hardly moved.

Come on, girl, roll him.

Giselle positioned her hands again. She grunted mightily, and
lifted him enough that she was able to wriggle up until her torso
was free and his head rested in her lap. She very gently lifted his
head and slid her legs free.

“I don’t know how long he’ll sleep,”
Giselle said as she unknotted Margaux’s ropes.

“Should we just hide in the woods and wait for the
survivors?”

“We can’t. They’ll find us.” She led
Margaux out of the cave and pointed into the darkness. “I
think the other women are that way. We need to find them and free
them. That should slow down the men.”

Margaux nodded. Maybe Giselle wasn’t broken after all. She
followed her away from the cave and into the night.

***

A wisp of smoke rose from the chimney of a large hut. Margaux
followed Giselle toward it. She could tell the other woman was
hurting. Her gait didn’t have the easy grace it used to have.
A crumbling barn sat beyond the hut. A clearing lay between them;
moonlight filtered through the scudding clouds and illuminated a
pair of cows huddled against each other near a well.

Giselle crept forward toward the hut, careful to stay in the
shadows. Their faded white dresses didn’t lend themselves to
sneaking, but no one seemed to be watching. She stopped under a
shuttered window. Margaux stopped behind her.

Margaux inspected the wooden shutters and didn’t see any
kind of lock. They slipped forward, around the corner, and to the
door. Nothing kept it barred closed, at least not from the outside.
The larger of the two cows lowed and shuffled behind the well,
getting as far from them as the tether would allow.

Giselle rapped on the door. Footsteps thumped inside. The door
opened to reveal a sallow faced woman with enormous bosoms.

She squinted at the women on her doorstep. “Who are you
lot then?”

“We were going to free you, but… It doesn’t
look like you need it,” Giselle said. She eased further up
the steps and looked past the woman and into the hut.

“Free me?” She laughed and turned to face the room
behind her. “They’s two slips of a woman out here that
says they here to free us.”

Another woman, this one younger and prettier, came up behind the
first. She held a baby on her hip. “Are you from
Guilder?”

“We’re going to Guilder,” Giselle said.
“We’re not from Guilder.”

“Do you have soldiers with you?” the older one
asked.

“No, we just escaped the bandits,” Giselle said.
“There are sailors from our ship, though.”

“With weapons?” The younger one looked eager.

“We don’t know,” Margaux said.
“We’re not sure how many survived the
shipwreck.”

The younger one’s face fell. She patted the baby
possessively and trudged away, back into the hut.

“They knows about you already? You don’t have no
chance at getting away from them men if you don’t have no
soldiers with you.” The older woman laughed again, making her
breasts heave. “You tell ‘em Mattie told you to crawl
back into that cave and lay down with your legs spread. There
ain’t no escaping from the likes of them.” She shut the
door in their faces.

“Should we try the other hut?” Margaux asked.

“No. We should go.” Giselle hobbled away from the
huts. “Something isn’t right about this. Those women
are too resigned to their fate, like they’ve tried to run
before.”

“I’m not staying here to be anyone’s
slave,” Margaux said.

“Agreed. We’ll go as far as we can, as fast as we
can. The sailors can distract the bandits.”

“But Yassine…”

“He’ll be fine. We’ll watch for
him.”

Margaux followed her friend into the darkness. She looked like a
ghost, flitting through the shadows in her dirty white dress.
Margaux feared that need to do more than look like ghosts if they
wanted to survive the night without being recaptured.

***

Margaux nearly jumped out of her skin when she heard the wolf
howl. It couldn’t have been more than a mile or two behind
them. They stumbled onward, too tired to keep jogging.

The second howl came from somewhere closer. “We’re
caught,” Giselle gasped, as she dropped to rump on the forest
floor.

“Caught?” Margaux asked. “Wolves don’t
hunt people”

“These wolves do. They’re toying with us.”

“Well, get a stick. We’ll fight them off. I’m
not escaping from that cave just to get eaten. If we can fend them
off, Yassine will come for us.”

Giselle laughed. “Are you well in the head?”

“What’s that supposed to mean?” As soon as she
asked it, a wolf trotted into view. It stood off a few dozen paces.
Moonlight reflected off the wolf’s yellow eyes. Margaux
grabbed a fallen branch about as big around as her wrist and
brandished it at the wolf. “Stay back.”

The wolf trotted toward her, then circled off to the side and
out of view. Margaux turned with it, trying to make out the
creature’s shape. It growled, somewhere in the darkness.

“Just drop the stick,” Giselle said. “All
you’re going to do is make him angry.”

“I’m not going to just—”

The wolf sprang out of the darkness toward her. She swung the
branch as best she could, but it ducked under and darted past. It
leapt for her again, and as she was about to smack it, the wolf
just…

Changed.

One second it was a snarling animal and the next it was a
snarling man with yellow eyes. It clicked into place. Ruddy.

He slapped the branch aside and bowled into her. She landed flat
on her back and out of breath. Ruddy landed on top of her. He
straddled her and wrapped his hands around her neck. He stared deep
into her eyes.

“You and me, we’re going to have us a good ol’
time, little wench.” He licked his lips.

He yanked at her dress, pulling it painfully against her
shoulders. The material gave way with a shriek, and shredded from
her neck, over her breasts, and to her stomach. Ruddy clawed it
away, stripping her down to her shift. He growled deep in his
throat, when he saw it, then tore it, too, away.

Margaux quivered beneath him.
What kind of man can turn into
a wolf?
She watched as he stripped out of his tunic and pants
and stood over her, much as he had stood over Giselle a few hours
before. His cock stood thick and erect before him. A thin line of
drool ran down his chin as she gazed at her nude body.

“Feel free to scream,” he said. “It makes me
harder.” He grinned, his teeth huge and white, more the teeth
of a wolf, than a man.

Margaux’s heart nearly stopped.
There’s really no
escape.
She closed her eyes and gathered her courage.
If I
can please him, maybe it will give Giselle a chance to run.
She
felt him crouch over her. His rough hands pawed at her breasts.

“Keep ‘em closed if you want,” he said. She
heard him spit, and felt his now-wet hand rub her lips.

She willed herself to get moist. She imagined he was Yassine,
that they were lovers at a forest tryst.
