Six weeks later
The hula girl on the dash danced back and forth with the force of the car. Bernie was glad they’d brought her back from Hawaii. She glanced at the speedometer, as she sped down the road as fast as she could get her little car to move. Her stomach flipped when she saw the lights in her rearview, she pulled over, took a sip of her Mountain Dew, a bite of her taco, and waited.
Levi came up to the window a look of fierce anger on his face. “What the hell are you doing, Bernadette? I clocked you going seventy-five—this road is forty!”
She looked at him as calmly as she could, her hands shaking a little on the steering wheel. “I’m sorry, officer! Did I do something wrong? Please don’t give a ticket, my husband will spank my butt, and besides I am going to have a baby…”
Levi looked confused for a moment. “What are you even talking about, Bernadette? You’re darn tootin’ your husband will bare your ass… and…” He stopped and stared at her, slack jawed. “Your husband will spank you and…

?”
She reached over onto the passenger seat, and held up the plastic white stick with the two pink lines.
Levi just stared.
Bernie started to feel uncertain about her plan. “Babe? Are you okay? I know we wanted to wait, and it wasn’t the plan and…”
Levi ripped open the door, knelt on the asphalt, and leaned in and kissed her belly. “Oh baby, Daddy can’t wait to meet you! Mama’s gonna get her fanny busted hard tonight for putting the two of you in danger, but I love you so much.” Then he kissed his Baby Mama and all was right in the world.
