“Stop complaining about the food, not everyone is allowed to complain.” I took another bite of my burrito. I think he understood my point because he didn’t say anything. But I wanted to drive my point in further.

“You aren’t the only one that has tried new things since I came into your life.” I think I made my point. I knew he got it. He gave his shit eating smile as he took big bite of his burrito.

“Ummm, this is good,” he said. “I think I like new things.” Jackass.

Work was long and boring. I had a lot of time to think our upcoming situation. I had a lot of questions. Liam had told me about the parties and clubs he had attended before he bought me.

Nick had taken me to a private party and several clubs, as well strung me up in his basement. So I did have some idea of the kind of place Liam was going into.

The people in these places had low morals if any at all. The things they did out in the open so everyone could see would make Howard Stern blush.

Liam would probably be fine in this situation, he relished in those kinds of places. But I wondered about his overall demeanor. He would have to change his ‘I’m married’ attitude and be a little more open. But after the incident at the sex club with Will, him loosing that attitude so easily worried me. His actions at that club didn’t make me happy and as much as I didn’t want to accept it I had to or be willing to walk away. Which I wasn’t, so I did.

Now he was contemplating going to a secret slave auction, with no moral freaks and pretend he was among his people. After last night, I wondered if he really was among his people with them.

We sat quietly in the study both working on work. Dinner was normal, although Rosa made an announcement that Sofia and Nathan were now expecting another baby. It was wonderful news. Happy news. I needed happy news.

“Now if our little Norah here could just bring us a baby then we can be happy!” Rosa exclaimed. Liam and I just looked at each other.

Now I sat in the quiet and watched Liam rub my feet while he read a very long memo. He had on his glasses and his glasses always made him look exceptionally handsome.

“You look very handsome in your glasses,” I said wiggling my toes. He smiled but didn’t look at me.

“I look old in my glasses. Wearing my glasses reminds me of my age.”

“You’re 30 years old, Liam. You aren’t an old man.” He didn’t comment.

“If you are so old maybe we shouldn’t have kids,” I said. He looked up at me. “I mean, if I am going to get stuck raising a kid all alone then I don’t want one.”

“Well maybe I’m not that old,” he leaned over to me and kissed my neck.

“So how does this work?” I asked and he leaned away. “The auction? How does it work? I assume they don’t go to someone like me and have it all planned out with catering and printed invitations. So how does this work?” I asked again.

He didn’t answer right away. He stopped rubbing my feet and closed the memo in front of him. I pulled my legs away from him and he took off his glasses, then turned his body in my direction.

“With parties like these security is at the highest. They move all the time, so no one can find them, addresses are given only an hour before, usually passwords are required at the door, and names are even changed sometimes.” He stood up and walked to the fireplace. There wasn’t a fire but it didn’t stop him from looking at it like there was. “I have never been to a private auction. The only auction I have ever been to would be the one where I bought you.” He turned back to face me.

“But some of the private parties I have attended were done in similar ways. People are so judgmental about this kind of lifestyle, even if they are just like me and it’s done in a consensual relationship. So participants do everything they can to hide who they really are. I have even been to parties where the guests wore masks. I wonder if this party will be that way.” I nodded at him because I did indeed understand. I had been to a party and had worn a mask. But that party was with Nick so I didn’t mention it.

“Yeah, I get it. People look down on other people who want to whip and beat people before they have kinky sex with them, I understand. Also it’s nice to be able to hide behind a mask.” I got up and went to the bar and poured myself some water.

“Did he ever make you wear a mask?” he asked. My back was to him but I stopped pouring and looked forward. I didn’t want to make eye contact.

“Do I really need to answer that?” I asked him. I could hear him walking a little closer to me.

“Yes,” he said in a firm voice. I turned to face him.

“Yes,” I said just as firm. He started to say something else or ask me another question but I stopped him. “I’m not talking about this now. So drop it.” I walked passed him and sat back on the couch. He followed me back to the couch but didn’t sit down.

“I know you’re angry about this, but I haven’t even decided to go to this auction, Norah, so drop the attitude.” I stood up and looked him straight in his eyes.

“Yes you have. You say you haven’t and you keep acting like you are still thinking about it, but I know you have made up your mind already. I know you’re going to do it! I know you are! You don’t give a damn about what I say!” I pushed against his chest. I don’t know why I did it. I usually never became physically combative with him but I couldn’t stop myself.

“Watch yourself, little one. If you push me then I can push you, and you know I push a little harder than that.” His eyes were turning dark.

“Yes, I have decided to go. I need to do this. I have to do this. I want to do this, Norah, can’t you understand?” he asked.

“No I don’t understand.” I wasn’t making it easy for him.

“There is something else we need to talk about, little one.” I gave him a serious look.

“I can’t act like a married man at this party, or at least a faithful married man,” he paused and looked down. He took a deep breath and looked up prepared to expand but I stopped him.

“I don’t want to talk about this right now but I think I understand your big need now.” I held up my hand and he nodded.

Chapter Nineteen

Liam

Tonight was the night. I had received the text with the date of the party a few days ago and tonight was the night. It would start late, I knew that and I would be texted an address about an hour before, I knew that too.

Norah and I ran on our treadmills like we were running from the bulls in Pamplona. Dinner had been quiet, I tried to get some work done, but I couldn’t concentrate. Norah paced the floor like she was in the waiting room in the hospital waiting for a baby to be delivered. So we decided to run.

Usually by now we would be out at an event, or upstairs in our bedroom either fucking or doing our normal boring married life things. Tonight we ran. I slowed my pace when I saw my phone light up.

I looked over at Norah and she was in a zone. She had her iPod on, her pace was fast, she was on level 10, and she had already run close to 8 miles.

“Norah you need to stop!” I yelled loud to so she could hear me. She held up her hand.

“One more minute,” she panted. She kept running and I saw the digital numbers change to 9 miles and then she slowed down.

“I was trying to make it to 10 miles,” she was breathing heavily. She slowed her pace and started walking. I handed her a bottle of water and she winked at me when she took it.

It was another long agonizing 3 minutes before she got off the treadmill and sat on the bench. She wiped her face with a towel and drank some more water. I stood in front of her and told her the news.

“I was just texted me the address of the party,” I said. She looked up at me from the bench and slowly stood up.

“I better go get ready,” I spoke softly and walked out toward the stairs.

I went to my closet and picked out a plain black suit and laid it on the bed. Norah walked in the room as I went in the bathroom and started the shower.

When I came out she was sitting on the bed. I started to dry off and shave. I saw her standing in the bedroom watching me. I shaved, put on my deodorant and some cologne then walked out to the room. I dropped my towel and slipped on my boxer briefs and pants.

“Are you nervous?” she asked.

“A little.” As I buttoned my shirt I walked to her.

“Norah, I need to talk to you about this. We haven’t talked a lot about it, and I need to tell you some things.”

“I don’t want to talk about it,” she replied. She started to walk out of the room.

“I’m going to have to do things tonight that I’m not going to be proud of, things you aren’t going to like.” I tucked my shirt in and grabbed my tie.

“Like what?” she asked as she turned back to me with a bit of an attitude.

“Well I’m going to have to play a part. I’m going to have to pretend that this whole thing doesn’t repulse me.” I turned to the mirror in the bathroom and started to tie the tie. “With this being a private party, they are going to expect me to appraise the girls before I make a bid, maybe even perform a scene, for a test.” I didn’t want to look at her, but I did anyway.

“You mean fuck them!” I turned to face her.

“No that isn’t what I meant. But something like that, yes.” She turned and started back in the bedroom. “Norah, they’re going to expect me to look at these girls naked, look them over, touch them, see if they are going to fill my needs or not. Yes, I suppose if I wanted to fuck them I could, but I don’t, you know that! That isn’t what this is about!”

“But I have to play a part to get them out of there, please understand.” She wasn’t looking at me. I walked up behind her and rubbed her shoulders.

“You didn’t do that with me. You didn’t touch me or even talk to me. You saw me and made a bid.” I turned her to face me.

“Yes, but that was also an auction that was secret. None of the people at that auction wanted to be known and for good reason. It wasn’t a circle of friends, it was a group of very high powered, rich, successful men. We were in booths and we couldn’t see each other. I couldn’t point those men out in a line up now if I had to.” She nodded like she understood the difference, but I wasn’t sure she did.

“I would never have sex with another woman, Norah. But I might have to touch them or do something else I don’t want to, hurt them, just to show I am a sick bastard just like them.” She relaxed a little bit.

“You are a sick bastard, just not as sick as they are,” she gave me a half smile. “Liam,” she paused. “I don’t want you to go. I really don’t. I don’t think this is a good idea. I’m just afraid,” she paused again. “I’m afraid something bad is going to happen.”

“Norah, I love you. I am not going to be having sex with another woman, I promise. And I will be fine. ”

“Don’t say that. Don’t make a promise you might not be able to keep. They could put you in a situation where you have to do it to keep yourself in their good graces.” She looked at the floor. “Do you think they would hurt you if they blow you cover?” It was an interesting choice of words.

“I don’t know. Maybe. I would imagine there will be a lot of security personnel standing around. If they caught wind that I wasn’t there for my own greedy reasons, they might be scared I was trying to out them too. They might think I was working with the police to make a bust or something.” She wasn’t smiling and she looked very worried. “They could take me out back and shoot me,” I said. She looked up at me.

“You’re kidding, right?”

“I don’t know. I would think the people in charge don’t like to be double crossed, so I suppose it really could happen.”

“Liam, I think this is a bad idea. Please don’t go.”

“I’m going to be fine, little one. Trust me. I can be very convincing.” I winked at her.

“Don’t try to be charming. I don’t want you to go.” She held my arm.

“What if I said if you go, then I won’t be here when you get home?” she whispered. She looked down at her feet. I made the final adjustments to my tie and ran my hairs through my hair.

“Are you giving me an ultimatum, little one?” I waited for her to say something but she didn’t. “You know I don’t like to be told what to do, Norah.” She still didn’t say anything. “Don’t say things you don’t mean.” She looked up at me with tears in her eyes. “Now give me a kiss and I will see you later.”

She raised herself on her toes and kissed my lips.

“Goodbye,” she said and I didn’t like the way she said it.

“Don’t say goodbye like I am never coming back,” I touched her chin so she would look at me.

“Please be safe,” she added.

“I will. I love you, Norah.”

“I love you too.”

Chapter Twenty

Liam

I arrived at the gate and typed in my eight digit password in the keypad. The gate opened and revealed a huge castle like house. The driver continued up the long drive way until he reached the front of the house. I couldn’t see any lights or anyone moving around. I took a deep breath and got out.

As I walked to the front door I saw security cameras following my every move. Before I could knock on the door it opened and a middle aged man stood there looking at me. He asked me for the password and I gave them very long passage from ‘Of mice and men’ that was given to me as my password. He nodded and moved so I could come inside.

“Welcome, Mr. Hastings.” It took me off guard to hear my real name. He nodded and gestured for me to walk forward. The parlor was large with marble floors that were gray and the room was outlined on very dark wood walls, high ceilings, a large staircase to the left, large double doors to the right and a very large single door at the back of the room, where another man stood.

This house was very intimidating and I did not get intimidated easily.

I walked to the man at the other door and he greeted me as well. He opened the door and I entered a grand ballroom. The marble floors continued, there were pillars on the left and right of the room about four feet apart, and large chandelier’s hanging from the ceiling.
