He sat back, cupping her cheeks tenderly.
He angled her face to look up at him. Tears stained her cheeks, and
he kissed them away.

It
will
be all right, Raylene. We will come
through this. You are my heart. I know myth states Vampires do not
have hearts, but we do. They beat. We feel. We love. We survive.”
Deegan laced his fingers through hers. His thumb ran over her
Blackthorne clan ring, a smaller version of his own. It consisted
of a Celtic knot with a sword through the middle with a large
serpent wrapped around the blade. His thumb ran over the large
black onyx that served as the serpent’s eye. This was the symbol of
his ancient Irish clan back in the 1300s. He adopted it for his
Vampire Clan.

“
Remember the motto of our clan
Raylene—Always and forever, my love.”

Raylene gazed at him, love shining in her
eyes. “Always and forever.”
