He’d grown so used to forcing smiles upon people he didn’t really know how to feel with it just happening. She smiled back at him, her eyes crinkling up in a childlike way. Her teeth were pearly white, but he could see the faint semblance of pointed fangs in her top jaw. She must have noticed because the happiness immediately left her face. She cleared her throat, a sign that she was nervous herself. He attempted to try and break the tenseness growing between them.
“So, are you going to be going to the bar tonight or no?” She looked at him in shock. He didn’t even know her name but yet he was asking her such a personal question. “The only reason I ask is that I’ve seen you come in before, so I was just curious.” She half smiled as she placed her items on the counter for him to start ringing up.

“Look, if you’re worried about me don’t be. I can take care of myself just fine. By the way, it would be nice to know your name before we hook up like that.” He stuttered it out rather slowly, causing her to laugh out loud, but her hand immediately went to conceal her fangs. He wanted to tell her it was okay, there was nothing to be ashamed of, but he didn’t. Basically because he didn’t know how he would feel if someone just intruded on him in that way.
“I’ll see you later then. Don’t be late.” She was gone in the blink of an eye. His mind was in a blur, and he rushed through his closing tasks. She was all that he could think of at that point. He didn’t stop to consider what he might be getting himself into either…
