“Nina” he said quietly “Your house is so very grand!”

She laughed and patted his knee.

“Adam darling. We are going to have such fun tonight, you and I. Once we settle Serena down with Ethan, I shall show you my apartment and our ballroom. We can have our own private little dance together there later! What a family affair this is turning out to be!” Nina said with a double meaning that Serena was well aware of.

They arrived and got out of the car and entered the house through the main entrance.

“I trust you will look after my brother, as I will yours.” Serena said pointedly. “I happen to be extremely fond of him. Please be careful if you are drinking together!”

“Serena!” said Adam, shaking his head at her and giving her a ‘shut up’ look. “Do you mind? I am your very experienced older brother, remember! What on earth are you saying? I am more than able to take care of myself, when I need to!”

Serena was concerned. She didn’t trust this little minx of a vampire to behave herself for one tiny second.

Nina led them through the corridors to Ethan’s apartment and pushed open his apartment door. It was unlocked. Once they were all inside she gave Serena a key and told her to go to Ethan’s room.

“Serena, we shall leave you now. We shall see you later, shan’t we Adam? Probably much later!” she announced smiling wickedly at Adam and licking her lips seductively. “Please hurry Serena. My brother needs you.” She said linking her arm through Adam’s and escorting him out of the door with a smile of victory on her pretty little face.

“Yeah, see you later sis.” He said happily trotting off by her side.  Serena worried a little about what would happen to Adam. She didn’t think Nina would turn him. She knew that was against the rules. But she would definitely bite him. He might enjoy the whole thing a little too much, she realised thinking about those wild sensations he was about to experience. Tonight would be the ultimate sex trip for him without a doubt!

Chapter 26

Serena stood outside Ethan’s door holding the key. Where had Nina got this key from, she wondered? She opened it, closed it behind her and stood for a moment in the darkness inside. She made her way slowly, her hands sweeping in front of her towards the bed. She did not want to turn on the light. She was quite fearful of what she would see. What did starving vampires with blood lust look like? Horrible images from vampire movies she had watched in the past sprung into her head.

She reached the bed and felt her way along it until she found him. She was shaking with fear at this point and in a state of high anxiety. She moved herself around the bed touching his form lightly with her fingertips, working out where he was lying. There were no ties anywhere… perhaps Nina had removed them or just made that up for effect? She sat on the bed. Something in her heart switched on strongly …tears brimmed in her eyes…. She had done this to him.  She stroked his soft hair and whispered to him.

“Ethan… Ethan… it’s Serena. I have come to give you something of mine….”

It wasn’t just her blood she was offering.

There was a lot of movement around her and suddenly she was picked up and flung down hard on the bed. The bedside light was turned on and Ethan was above her snarling and hissing like the real vampire he was. His fangs were out fully and the whole of his eyes were completely bright red. He was quite frightening and she gulped loudly.

“You!” he hissed “What do you want? Have you come to taunt me…to drive me mad in my final hours? Can’t a vampire die quietly on his own? Leave me this instant!”

“Ethan. I am certainly not leaving. I don’t care what you say or do. Please take what you want from me. That’s all I ask!”

“I don’t want your blood anymore… it’s tainted. I can smell him on you Serena..!”

“I don’t believe you… you are just saying that. Please Ethan. Drink my blood. I want you to. You can turn me if you want to. You see, I didn’t realise just how much I need you. I do so want to be your mate… I am begging you to forgive me, Ethan!”

His fangs drew back fractionally and he seemed to be calming a little. He looked at her face closely his reddened eyes boring inside her head. Sighing, his head dipped down heavily in surrender as he took in the scent of her blood pulsing at her neck. She smelled so good. His mouth was watering heavily. He wanted lots of it right now. He wanted her. But….

“Serena, I can’t do it to you. You don’t want my life. Neither do I anymore. I have no interest in living in this world. I have spent far too long in it already. It is always full of disappointment.”

“No you are so wrong. I do want this life. Having you is worth all that I would lose… There are so many positive things. I wasn’t sure before that’s why I went rather crazy with Phil. I was so scared of it all Ethan. I wish you had let me explain. I have thought about you endlessly. I felt terrible having hurt you so much. You don’t know how much you mean to me. Do it Ethan. We are meant to be together.”

“Serena, I don’t understand why at all, but I seem to have forgiven you for the moment… but I can’t forget Serena, that may never happen…. as for turning you, I feel we should wait a while and I need to have permission first. That’s how things are done. But for now I would very much like to taste your blood again, if I may?”

“Ethan, stop fussing and fucking bite me for God’s sake!” Serena almost shouted. “You want it and I bloody want it!”

As his mouth touched hers Serena was lost in his world. This was what she was meant for. The whole vampire experience was so erotic and exciting. How could she ever have considered Phil over Ethan? Her head must need examining!

They rolled around the bed human style crazily and wildly and he was tugging off her clothes urgently. He had missed her so. He needed to feel her skin next to his  …. Then when she was ready for him and panting like mad for his bite, he laid her down and sank his sharp aching fangs into her neck quickly. The release he felt as the blood oozed into his mouth was beyond description. The taste was way up high in the realms of the sublime.

She felt the heated rush and the ensuing euphoria as his serum hit her senses again… the almond like smell of it and her blood mixing was a heady concoction which swam up her nose … She kept her eyes wide open as she felt him sucking her blood out in large gulps, her hand caressing his head and stroking his face.

“Can you stop just for a moment… I want to see your mouth.” She said, trembling a little with her feelings for him.

He lifted his head with some effort; his blood smeared mouth came into view. She was actually finding this whole feeding experience to be far more erotic than she could ever have imagined.

“I want to taste it.” She said putting her mouth on his and running her tongue over his sharp teeth. It tasted very strong, salty and metallic, as it had in her dream. It had a silky soft slippery feel in her mouth. She licked the smears from around his lips.

“Serena, I must feed… I am so hungry, let me finish.” he said desperately. His head returned to her neck sucking greedily for a few moments more. He started to slow down, taking smaller gulps, then he pressed down hard on the bite with his tongue to stop the blood flow and began licking it gently to clean her.

His head came back up to look into her eyes. She kissed and licked his face clean. She actually liked the taste of her own blood in her mouth. Who would have guessed….? She obviously had an animal side that had been very well repressed. He took hold of her tightly, pressing his mouth to hers and moved her around gently. There was no sudden blur of turbo sex this time. Just gentle slow movements between them. He was her vampire lover. She wanted it to go on and on and most of all she wanted to bite him too.

She awoke much later in the night to find him curled around her. This meant so much to her. He had stayed. He was probably exhausted, she told herself, he didn’t have any choice. She would have to speak to him about that later. She touched his face in the semi darkness. His eyes opened slightly focusing on her sleepily. He put his arms around her, pulling her close.

“Are you a dream?” He asked in a whisper.

“No, but you are.” She replied snuggling closer.

His breathing settled into a steady rhythm next to her ear and feeling contented and warm they both drifted back to sleep.

Chapter 27

When they awoke it was morning.

Ethan asked why she had come to him the night before… how she knew?

She explained about Nina calling at her home and about Adam too. Ethan looked surprised and more than a little concerned.

“What’s the matter?” she asked getting rather alarmed at his manner.

“I wish you had told me this last night Serena. I am sure Nina is very jealous of you. She has wanted me to mate with her for a long time. I didn’t feel for her anything more than a brother would so I have always refused. She coerced me in the past to feed from her and once she tried to force me to mate. I am very concerned about your brother Adam. She is a very determined, and I think, highly vindictive vampire.  Now I don’t know if she would go that far, but she may think of turning him to spite us both!  Quickly – we should go to find them.”

They got up and very quickly washed and dressed.

Serena’s heart was in her mouth.

Not her brother, oh no! This was all her fault.

They arrived outside Nina’s door and Ethan knocked and called out loudly.

“Do come in.” Nina’s sweet voice wafted through the door. “There’s no need to knock Ethan darling! You are welcome in my apartment at any time, you know that.”

They opened the door and made their way through her small inner hallway to her living room. Nina was in her darkened room, the heavy drapes were closed. She was lying on her huge deep red couch with Adam in her arms. She was playing with his hair. He seemed to be asleep. He was not wearing much. There were clearly lots of large savage bite marks on his muscular neck and there were dark red stains around his mouth. Serena ran over to him.

“Is he okay Nina?” Serena asked in a worried tone. “You didn’t take too much, did you?”

Ethan stood at her side breathing heavily.

“Please tell me that is his blood, not yours… you didn’t let him drink your ichor, did you?”  He asked her in a harsh voice. “You know the rules”

“I don’t have to obey rules… I’m a real vampire!” she said hissing a little and angrily flashing her fangs at him.

She nudged Adam awake roughly.

“Adam, your sister is here… look, open your eyes darling!”

Adam opened his eyes and Serena gasped in horror. They were red as red could be.

She threw herself at Nina screaming. Nina laughed and shoved her back roughly with her hot pink painted fingernails.

“Ethan, can’t you do anything? Is it too late?” she cried in desperation.

Ethan shook his head.

“He has drunk her blood. The eyes are the first sign of change. We are far too late. This must have happened early last night.” Ethan said sadly.

Nina giggled nastily.

“Stupid little Serena, you left him with me… didn’t you? I now feel we are even, you and I. You have taken my brother away from me, and now I have taken yours. An eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth or so the saying goes!” She laughed loudly at her little joke.

“Get out of my sight you little bitch” said Ethan glowering, full of vampire rage. He took hold of her arm and flung her across the floor towards the door. She cowered whimpering and snarling on the floor. “What you have done is punishable by death. You know that!  Father will deal with you in due course. Remember what happened when our brother Arthur broke a rule of the New Covenant…with that woman child… we staked him out in the sun to die a slow painful death. Your fate could be far worse Nina. At least Arthur made his mistake out of love. You have acted out of pure malice. Death is too good for you; you should be banished to the hot barren wastelands for eternity to live in the burrows… You are a despicable evil creature.”

Nina slunk out of the door and they heard her leave the house banging the large entrance door loudly.

Serena listened to Ethan’s words in morbid fascination as she slumped to the floor next to Adam who was looking very confused, pale and groggy. He drifted back to sleep again. He did not know what he had become yet. Serena’s tears flowed down her cheeks and she really felt her heart break in two.

“Stay close to your brother for just a moment” said Ethan picking her up from the floor and holding her close. “I shall fetch my mother to tend to Adam. We must also find father soon, before Nina is too long gone for us to follow her scent. It is his responsibility to deal with this.”

Ethan returned very quickly with his beautiful stepmother who held Serena’s hand and gave her an understanding look.

“Serena.  I am so very sorry for you; for all this. Our family is very honourable and civilised normally. Nina has disobeyed the New Covenant and she will be made to answer for her actions I can assure you. My name is Lilly. But you should call me Mother. I am the matriarch of this household, but in name only, apart from Roma, that is. She is my real child.”

She bent to look at sleeping Adam and ran her fingers over his bites. She dipped her head to smell his breath.

“I will take him to my quarters, I think” she said. “I want to wash him properly and keep an eye on him today. He is only half vampire just now. He will be having some vivid daydreams and a lot of bloodlust building up.”

Lilly ran her hands over Adam’s chest and arms slowly.

“Adam seems to be a very powerful man; I may need a little help to contain him. Ethan, would you collect Roma from the stables please, she can help too.” She explained briefly.

Ethan left to collect Roma.

Lilly picked Adam up in her dainty vampire arms and took him away with her. Serena followed her along the corridor and into the next wing. She laid him down in one of her bedrooms. He was stirring, half awake, snapping and trying to bite anything that came his way.

“Serena, leave him with us today. You don’t have to see this… it can be a little disturbing during the change. But it will pass in a day at most. We will take the greatest care of him I assure you.”
