He steps right up to me, breathing heavy with his fists clenched in anger. It must have looked like he was going to hit me because out of nowhere Den is hit in the stomach, and with what looks like a ball of blue fire! Which knocks him on his butt. Open mouthed in shock, I look behind me, as everyone looks where the whizzing fireball came from, our eyes landing on Ruk! He looks at us all as if we are crazy and points to Dallah who rolls her eyes and stands up.

“Den, sort your shit out!”
She yells at him, then walks away with Julian, and he laces his arm over her shoulder.

Den jumps to his feet and looks down at his shirt with a frown.

“Damn it Dallah, this is my favorite shirt!” He shouts to her as she walks away, but we don’t miss the laughter coming from Julian.

Den still doesn’t give up berating me even after the fireball, he
cruelly says,

“Right little heart breaker aren’t you Zara, I actually feel sorry for Parrise, even Richard!” He spits the words at me nastily.

I shake my head in disgust, how could he say that after what I went through with Sallack.

“I would have thought you knew me by now, even if I had slept
with everyone you think I had, then that’s my business and it’s nothing compared to you! I need your support Den, but you cannot give it to me can you? Willing to think the worst of me. You are not the man I thought you were. Look me in the eye and tell me why!” I ask him, as his face falls.

“Whatever Zara,” He says in utter revolt as he storms off.

“Ruk and I didn’t sleep together, I just wanted
to hurt him back,” I tell the Brothers’, who all look at me with sympathy, already knowing the truth.

“Zara, you don’t have to explain anything to us. Dallah told us why you kissed Richard last night; we all have respect for that, just stay away from him Beautiful. We are here now, we will keep you
safe.” Sallack tells me, and the Brothers’ nod their heads in agreement.

“So why is Den being like that?” I ask confused.

“He won’t listen to anyone, we just mention your name and he walks away, he doesn’t mean what he says.”

“Trust me, I know Den enough to know when he means what he says, and he means it alright.”

I sit back down and finish my cup of tea, while Sallack and Dom go to find Den, so they can all keep an eye on Richard, soon followed out by Ruk, Mickey, and me, as we head off in search of the book.

“So what is this book about?” Mickey asks in a whisper.

“It will solve all of our problems, but this has to be kept secret between just us,” Ruk tells him.

“Got it. So we just walk
around this place until what, the book lands at our feet?” He asks doubtfully.

“Pretty much,” I tell him simply.

I’m hoping that we find some sort of a private library belonging to Richard or a room where he has his personal belongings.

After walking around, and sneaking into room after room we finally find what looks like a small library. The only problem is that now we have no idea what the book looks like, if it has ‘The book of Kartam’ written on it, or if it is even in here.

We sneak in and shut the door quietly behind us.

“Ok, what’s it called again?”

“The book of Kartam, and
it will probably be very old in appearance.” I whisper, just as a precaution as we do not know for sure that anyone has followed us.

“Ok, I’ll take this side,” Ruk
says, walking to his left, while Mickey takes the right, leaving me to walk head on.

We scan the shelves for hours, with no luck. We decide to swap sides with one another, just in case one of us have missed it. As I walk over to Ruk’s side, I hear what sounds like a thousand women singing in a foreign language, the sensation overwhelms me as I put my hands over my ears to block out the high-pitched voices pulsing in my head. I fall to my knees feeling dizzy, like my heads about to explode.

Ruk and Mickey are at my side in a flash, holding me by the
arms, and speaking to me, which I can only tell by looking at them, as the voices in my head are so loud. Just as I get used to the throbbing pain in my eardrums, the voice dissolves down to just one woman’s voice, she sings so beautifully that it brings tears to my eyes; the words start to become clear  to me as I strain to make sense of her words.

For the one it is time and the time has begun, for our daughter to take on what should be done. Our Little Charmer, now strong and brave. Take the book and sing from the words on the page. We mothers, we love you; we look on with praise, my little Charmer, now strong and brave.

Her voice repeats the words over and over again as I frantically search for the book. My blood tingles and the hairs on the back of my neck stand on end. Reaching for a small leather bound book that is in pristine condition, it has a small marking on the front, which looks like a sun with a hand wrapped around it, but no writing or indication that this is the one, except the feeling of love and nurture coming from it as I hold it in my hands.

“This is it! We need to go!” I tell them in a rush. I
cannot be found with this book in my hands, even if no one can read it, they would find it suspicious that I have it and look into the reason I need it and we can’t afford that.

“You sure it’
s the right book, it doesn’t even have a title?” Mickey says questioning me.

“It’
s the one, trust me.” I tell him, feeling relieved to have finally found it.

“Let’s get back then,” Ruk tells us as we vacate the room and head back to Ruk’s bedroom, quickly and quietly.

Ruk tells Mickey to join Sallack, as he is needed more there
than with us, but before he leaves, he makes me promise that I am well, after my reaction to the book. Bless Mickey is so caring, I tell him I’m fine and kiss his cheek in thanks as he leaves

Once
we're alone, I open up the book again and scan the pages.

“Ruk it doesn’t make sense, I can’t read it! Eric said that I would be able to. What are we going to do now?” I ask him in a
panic, as I know how vital it is for Dallah that I do this.

“Stop trying so hard, start with the first word on the page, relax, and don’t over think it beautiful,” He tells me in a calming tone.

I look back at the first page and let my eyes adjust to it, slowly but surely the first word forms on my lips and rolls off my tongue.

Wehles
.”

“Do the first line Zara,” He tells me while watching me closely.

I look back at the page and slowly take in every word, I don’t know what the words mean, or what page the spell I need is on, but it’s a start.

Wehles nakra dioraka montas slyta missacla touchel deobla
.”

With every word I speak, it is longed out when it rolls o
ff my tongue, but not just that, I can really feel the power running through my veins.

I look up at a started Ruk.

“What’s wrong?”

“You’re singing! Do you know
that, but it sounds amazing like an Angel from the heavens,” He says looking at me in complete awe.

“I’m singing it?” I ask in shock.

“Yeah,” He says, taking my hand in his.

“Ruk, how will I find the right spell?”

“You will, have faith in yourself Zara.”

“Yeah,” I tell him in agreement.

Ruk sits with me for hours while I read from the book, just watching me silently.

Dallah walks into the bedroom with a grin, as she looks at the book in my hands.

“You found it? Is this really it?” She asks as her eyes brim with tears.

“Yeah, this is it; I have just been looking for the right page, or pages.” I tell her as I pass it to her, so that she can take a look.

Wow, it’s beautiful, how did you find it?” She asks flicking through the pages.

“There was the sound of a chorus of women singing, as if leading me to it, and there it was sitting on the shelf, right there within my reach.”

“Amazing, so this is the book that will help me kill Richard?” She asks, looking at me with a raised brow.

Suddenly the pages of the book flip back and forth in Dallah’s hands. She looks from me to Ruk a little nervously as she holds it out to me.

“You should take it back; I don’t think it likes me!”

“Don’t be silly, here.” I say as I take the book from her, and look down at the open pages.

“Huh, weird! I didn’t notice these markings before,” I say as I look at the top of the page, where is a small engraving of a dagger.

“Talk to it,” Dallah tells me.

“Talk to a book?” I ask with a snort.

“Do it, go on.” She encourages.

I look to Ruk for his opinion on the matter; he nods his head in agreement for me to talk to the book.

“Uh...I need the spell to kill the Dark
Prince?” I say as I look at them both and shrug my shoulders.

Just like that, the pages flip repeatedly and fall open on what looks like a verse of some sort.

“Well, looks like you found the spell,” Ruk tells me with a proud smile.

“To be fair, it was Dallah, so well done, I would have never have thought to talk to it.”

We are so engrossed in the book, that we don’t hear Sallack enter.

“What you guys up to?” Sallack asks, raising a brow as we all look like we have been caught with our hands in the cookie jar.

“Nothing much. Are you coming down to the ballroom tonight?” Dallah asks him and Ruk, acting as though she has only just entered the room herself.

“Yeah, if
you are both there,” He replies with a light frown, trying to secretly work out what we were up to.

“Unfortunately, we will be
there, yes.” She says with a sigh.

“Ok, well
, we have to get ready, so we will see you in a little while,” Dallah tells them as she takes my hand and transports us to her bedroom, not giving Sallack and Ruk chance to say goodbye.

“Whoa, what’s got into you?” I ask in a fluster.

“Stay away from Richard tonight, he is royally pissed...don’t laugh, I’m being serious! I think you triggered something in him that he doesn’t like, or understand, probably a heart beat! But you need to stay clear of him. We are so close now Zara, we could be home and away from this all by next week.”

“I will Dallah, I promise. Hey, do you want to see something?”

“Always!” She says with a smile now in place.

I close my eyes as I picture myself standing on her bed. Opening my eyes, I see Dallah with her mouth open, before she laughs and pulls me down.

“Wow, why didn’t you tell me this morning? Oh yeah, I see that Ruk can throw fire! What else can you both do?”

“Too much was going on this morning so I didn’t get a chance. Ruk and me sat up all morning trying out new things. That is all I got so far, but Ruk can levitate! I know, cool right? And he can blow things up, and then the fireball thing, which I would die for!” I tell her excitedly. I haven’t had a chance to see what else I can do, where we have been searching for the book all day.

“Wow! Have you tried moving things with you
r mind?”

“No,
uh, let’s try that?”

“Ok, well you have to really want an object to move to actually achieve it, so try something little first, like that hair brush,” She tells me pointing to the brush on her dressing table. I do as she says, and it works a little too well as it smashes up against the ceiling with might.

“Ok, you’re overdoing it, nice and relaxed. Now try the bed.”

“Dallah the bed! Really?
! What if that happens again?”

“It won’t, trust me, just relax.”

I take a deep breath and look at the bed, as I imagine it floating in the air, weightlessly. To my astonishment, the bed levitates off the wooden floor. With a wicked grin in place, I gently coax it back down to where it belongs.

“Oh, wow, you’re a natural. What powers would a Charmer have?” She asks herself, while looking deep in thought.

“Ok, I got it, try reading my thoughts.”

“Alright.” I tell her, leaning my head to the side and trying to pick up something.

“Nope, nothing, but if I were to guess, it would be how much you can’t wait to see Julian naked?” I ask mischievously, getting a playful smack on the arm by a blushing Dallah.

“Ok, ok, I really want to crack on with the book, I want to learn the words to perfection.
Oh, you know, when I read the words, they come out as a song, so I need to learn how to do this really quietly.”

“Ok, I’m going to leave you then sweetie; I need to sort a few things out for tonight.” She tells me as she goes to leave the room.
