“I’m single by
choice,” he said, placing a gentle kiss on her nose.
 
“But I’m thinking I want to change that
status.
 
I’ve got it bad for you,
Elizabeth.
 
Very bad.”
 

“Bad enough to let
me stay the night?” she asked with a smile and a wink.

“It’s worse than
that, sweetheart!
 
Let’s start with you
staying here the weekend and go from there!
 
A guy could get used to having you around… permanently,” he said,
placing a rough kiss on her lips.
 

“Permanently?”
Elizabeth
asked, pulling back from the kiss.
 
He
looked in her green eyes and saw nothing but joy.
 
She appeared as happy as he was.
 
He nodded his head.
 
Her hands cupped his face on either side and
she placed a soft kiss on his lips.
 

“You can’t
possibly think I’m going to let you go,” he said with a smile.
 
John ran his hands up her back and pulled her
into his embrace.
 
For
the first time in a long time, he felt extremely happy and at peace.
“Now that I have you, I’m going to keep you.”

“I’d like that,”
Elizabeth
said, leaning
into him and snuggling into his chest.
 
“I’d like that a lot.”
