“A way for us to get over all this pain.”

“And what brilliant solution did you come up with?”
Because she couldn’t think of any way for them to get past the pain.
It ran too deep for too long.

“I’ve decided if you don’t want to talk about the accident I won’t push. I’ll wait until you’re ready. And when you are, I’ll be by your side waiting.”

“You’ll be waiting a lifetime, because I’m never going to be ready to talk about the accident.”

“Do you need me to call the guys and see if they’re available tonight?”

So he wanted to change the subject, did he?
Fine by her.

Her head told her to say no, to refuse his offer to help but her heart pulled at her to say yes. She needed them tonight. People were expecting a band and if she didn’t have one, they would find somewhere else to hang for the night. The thought of potentially losing all that money made her act sensibly.

“Okay. I’d really appreciate that.”

“Awesome. Let me call the guys and arrange it.”

Maybe she could arrange for Henry to work tonight.
Alone.
If she took the night off then she wouldn’t have to worry about
after
the show.
When Reed might linger.
Lingering would lead to other things. Things her heart wasn’t ready to do again. She already struggled with the demons from their last encounter. She thought having sex with Reed would be therapeutic, healing. Wrong. It only proved how much she still loved him. And she wanted more of him.

Yes, taking the night off would be the smartest plan for tonight.

“They had such a good time last
time,
they all agreed to fill in.”

She smiled. “I’m grateful for the last minute offer. I would have understood if they couldn’t.”
Probably been relieved too
.

“We can use the exposure and the cash. Besides, I like playing here. We’ve been playing at a lot of different clubs lately but Crimson Nights is by far the best one.”

His compliment touched her. She liked to think she had a decent place and to have him validate it, made her feel warm inside.

“That’s nice to hear. Nice to know I’m keeping up with the competition.”

“I’d say you’re a step above the competition.”

“So what brings you here today?”
And how long before you leave again?
Being alone with him was not a good idea. Not one patron was here today, yet.

“Court.”

“Oh, how did that go?”

“Good. I had to pay a fine.”

“Fine?
Does that mean they dropped the charges?”

“Sort of.
I don’t think I deserved the fine but the alternative is worse, so I paid it.
Fucking kid.
He causes trouble and I pay the price.”

She knew all too well. “Johnny’s been like that for as long as I can remember. He uses his father’s power for his personal gain. He’s trouble with a capital T. I prefer him to not come into my bar but I don’t need the headache that comes along with keeping him out.”

“I guess,” he muttered.

“Can I offer you something to drink?”
Or a taste of my pussy?
Where had that come from? She wanted to stay away from him, not fall back into the sack.

“No, I have to run, especially if we’re
gonna
play tonight. But I’ll take a rain check, after the show.”

She knew what he was implying and there was no way she was spending the night with him.
Even if she was dying to feel his cock filling her pussy to the brim.
Or having him do shots off her body.

“Yeah,
a rain check
.” She plastered a false smile on her lips.

“See ya tonight.” He tapped the bar then hurried off.

“Tonight,” she whispered. “Not if I can help it.”

Reed had a swing in his step as he strode out to his truck. He was one lucky dude.
Finding Sierra after all this time.
She was so beautiful. The scars didn’t bother him. It pained him to think he was the cause but it didn’t change how much he loved her, then or now. If anything he loved her more. She was a beauty.
Strong.
Sexy.
Sexy wasn’t the word. She was drop-dead gorgeous. He couldn’t wait to strip her clothes off and enjoy every last inch of that sensual body.

He was going to claim her as his tonight. He let her disappear ten years ago but never again.

He planned to make her Mrs. Reed Walker once and for all.

* * * * *

Reed didn’t see the humor in her taking the night off. She was intentionally avoiding him. Why? He thought they were getting along better. Shit, she looked hurt earlier. He thought for sure he was making headway. Was this payback for his silence? He couldn’t help it. The fact that she wouldn’t let him get a close look at the scars really bothered him. Yes, she flashed them at him and yes in his stupidity, he gasped, but he hadn’t realized the extent of her injuries. Maybe he deserved payback for overreacting. He had so many thoughts filling his mind, like the idea she might have a bleeding heart. These were things caused by him.
His doing.
And the thought of bringing her more pain tore at his heart. So he stayed away. And what a mistake that had been.

He wasn’t putting up with her disappearing act. Not again. He knew where she lived. She couldn’t hide.

He sang his heart out, knowing she was just above him. Did she hear him belt out the love song he’d written for her? He imagined her upstairs drowning out the sound of his voice. Well she could try to hide but he wasn’t having any of it. He was going to show her once and for all they were meant to be together.
Whether she liked it or not.

As the crowd died down and the band packed their things for the night, Reed hung around hoping she would come down to close up the bar for the night. He figured he was out of luck and decided to call it a night.

Though he was tempted to go banging on her back door, he knew it was late. Tomorrow was another day. He wasn’t letting her off the hook scot-free. She would eventually have to face him.

He neared the door when he heard Henry say hello. “I didn’t expect you, Sierra.”

Reed froze.

He waited.

“I didn’t expect to come down either but I thought the coast would be clear and I would check on you.”

Reed cleared his throat and turned.

Her eyes widened at the realization he was still here.

“Sierra?”

“Reed.
I didn’t think… I thought you—”

“Thought I’d be gone by now. Thought you could avoid me?” Three long strides brought him face to face with her.

“Why are you avoiding me? I thought we had a date for tonight.”

“A date?
I never agreed to a date.”

He watched her face go from shock to distraught. Fear filled her emerald eyes.

He reached out and traced the tip of his finger over her lips.

“Our rain check?
I think I’d like that drink now.”

She closed her eyes.

“Sierra,” he whispered.

She backed away. “Henry I’ll finish closing. You can take off.”

“You sure?”

Reed watched the exchange between owner and employee. Henry was looking out for Sierra’s best interest. Something Reed appreciated. He liked knowing she was safe when Henry was around. A backup for when he couldn’t protect her.

“I’ll be fine. Reed and I have some business to discuss.”

“I paid him,” Henry declared.

“I know. We have other things to discuss.” Her words were soft, where he was harsh. Henry was leery of Reed and he didn’t blame him. Why should he trust a total stranger alone with his
boss.
Especially a stranger who was making her
do
things out of her norm.

Yes, they had things to discuss. Like why she was avoiding him.

“You’re the boss.” Henry grabbed his coat and headed out the door.

Finally Reed had her alone.
Time to show her why they were meant to be together.

Sierra’s body went into overdrive as Reed approached her. This was the reason she hid upstairs. Her body deceived her whenever he was close. Her head knew they couldn’t be together but her heart and body had a mind of their own.

He wrapped his arms around her waist. She felt his bulge against her back. She wanted him inside her. She shook the thoughts from her mind. She had to end this once and for all. She had to make it clear there wasn’t going to be a repeat performance of their night together.

She
turned,
ready to lay her cards on the table.

He captured her lips. His tongue plunging into her mouth, invading. He tasted of tequila, reminding her again of their night together.

She melted into his arms, accepting his kisses.

His hard penis rubbed against her.

She moaned.

Just one more time
.
One last time and that was it.
Because she couldn’t continue to do this.
But what would it hurt if she had him inside her one more time.

Nothing.

She pushed away. “I have an idea.”

She rushed to the bar and picked up a bottle of strawberry schnapps and a shot glass. “Body shots, with
my
favorite liquor.”

He rested his lean muscular frame against the pool table.
“Strawberry schnapps?
That’s a sissy drink.” His green speckles teased.

“Really.
Then I guess you don’t want to see what I can do with a bottle of schnapps? I think you’ll regret it in the morning.”

Their easy banter intrigued her. It was natural, like they’d been together forever. She’d forgotten what it felt like to have an easy rapport with a man. But they weren’t a couple. This was sex and only sex. In the morning they would go their separate ways and she’d never ask his band back to her bar. She’d never let him back into her heart. It was way too risky.

“I’m all yours,” he said, spreading his arms wide.

At least for the moment
.
If she was going to do this, she might as well go out with a bang.

She placed the stuff on the pool table.

“I think you have too much clothing on,” she said, tugging his shirt from his pants. “I want to see more of this body.”

Reed bent his head allowing her to remove the shirt with ease.

She traced her fingers down either side of his ribs, over his tight abs. He was perfect.
So fucking perfect.

Unlike me.

She pushed the thoughts out of her head. Tonight she wanted to be with Reed.

Needed him.

The tip of her finger circled his nipple, forming a hardened bud.

Reaching for the bottle she dipped her finger into the contents. She licked it from her finger.

Mmmm
.”

“Tease.”

She smiled sucking on her finger.

He tried pulling her close.

“No. No. No.” She pushed against his hard chest. “This is my show.”

He let out a deep breath.
“If you insist.”

Dipping her finger back in, she covered his nipple in the sweet liquid, then licked it off.

He groaned.

She repeated with the other one. She followed the line of hair that led deep into the confines of his pants where his god-like penis waited for her.
Waiting to bring her glorious pleasure.

“Lay back, big boy,” she instructed.

“Here on the pool table?”

“Why not?”

He shrugged. “Damned if I know.”

He hopped onto the table.

“Wait!” She shouldn’t do this. This was a bad idea. But she wanted it.
Needed it.
Fuck it all. She was going for it.

“What?”

“Never mind.”

Reed laid his body across the pool table as she requested.

“Why don’t you join me?” He slung his arm around her shoulder pulling her down to his level.

His warm breath tickled her ear. “Maybe I will.”

He released her.

Regaining her composure she strutted around the table, looking for the best angle to cherish his body. She stopped and poured herself a shot.

“Care for one?” she asked, offering him the shot glass.

“This is your show, remember. I’ll just lay here and enjoy.” He folded his arms behind his head.

She tossed back the liquid.
A small bite at the back of her throat, nothing too harsh.
Just the way she liked it.

She poured another. This time she used it to pour into his round belly button.

He squirmed, sending liquid dripping down his side.

Sierra quickly lapped the alcohol off him.

“Now this is what I call a shot.” She worked her way up to the rest of the schnapps. Covering the hole with her lips she sucked, dragging the alcohol into her mouth. Taking a step back she swallowed.

Reed was right. Doing body shots was erotic.
Sexy.
Seductive.
Electricity coursed through her veins.

She climbed onto the pool table and straddled him. Heat radiated off his body, sending her libido into overdrive. Her pussy juices soaked her panties. Her
oversensitized
nipples yearned to feel his mouth wrapped around them, sucking, pinching and biting.

She wanted him but she wanted to taste his skin covered in strawberry schnapps again.

Downing another shot, she smiled wickedly at him. Never had she had a man under her, in her control. Having Reed under her spell was delish.

“You’re enjoying yourself aren’t you?” He reached up and touched her cheek. “You’re beautiful Sierra.”

She leaned against his hand.

“Let me make love to you.”

She shook her head. No. No making love. Making love required feelings. She wasn’t about to admit feelings. This was strictly sex.
Sex for the sake of sex.

Filling the shot glass she swallowed back the pain creeping up in her throat, threatening to expose her feelings.

One more.
