Yes, thank goodness for Sam.  I took Sam’s hand and headed in the direction of Janie’s classroom.  Janie saw me and squealed, launching herself from the toy box where she had been playing.  I normally was about three hours later, so seeing me this early was an unusual treat for her.  I scooped her up, but went back on my foot with the force that she barreled into me at.  Sam’s hand steadied me at the small of my back.  She looked at Sam questioningly, so I turned and let her get a better look at him.

“Janie, I’d like you to meet Sam, Sam, this is Janie.” I said to each of them.

Sam held out his hand and Janie gave him a five.  I smiled; yes I taught her everything that I know.  She stared at him a little longer, and then came to a decision as she launched herself at him.  Sam caught Janie without an effort, swinging her to his hip like a pro. Typical Janie, going to anyone that will hold her.  Stranger anxiety was not one of her problems.

One time we were in line at the grocery store when a burly, rough looking man with tattoos on his skull and a nose piercing walked up to stand behind me.  She stared at him from her place beside me before coming to a decision.  She walked right up to him and yanked on his shirt, all the while saying “up” to him over and over.  He gave a hearty laugh and looked at Janie like she was the cutest thing in the world.  However, I didn’t feel the same way.  I didn’t know this guy.  There was no way I was letting him hold her.  I bribed her with a Hershey’s bar and she dropped him like a hot potato.

We walked together out into the sunlight.  Sam kept alert, his eyes searching for any kind of threat.  I started to walk to my truck when I stopped dead.

“I don’t have my truck.” I stated the obvious.

“I can take her down the road to Free.  I’ll walk, its only two blocks.” He said, coming up with a sound solution.

I took a deep breath and let it out.  Good.  I wasn’t ready to let her out of my sight.  I wanted her to be safe from the crazy bitch that was her mother.  I kissed Janie on the forehead, and then leaned up and gave Sam a soft peck on the mouth before stepping away and turning before he could react.

“Okay, I’ll go switch my truck out, and I’ll be there as soon as I can.” I said over my shoulder as I headed to my truck.  Once in the truck I gave one last glance at the two of them.  I saw him nod his head to a man who was sitting on a bike across the street at the flower shop, the other man raised two fingers and nodded.  Hmm, that was weird. I looked back at Sam to see that he was about ready to turn the corner.  There was nothing hotter than a man holding a baby.  Nothing.

I pulled into the parking lot of Free, parked, shut the truck off, and walked to the building.  The building looked like any other garage that you may have seen before.  It had a huge bay door that swung shut.  Right now it was secured to a post with a chain, keeping it open.  The other door slid into the building, like a pocket door.  There were two car lifts in the open garage.  One had an El Camino in the air with a drain pan underneath of it.  The other was empty.  There were around three or four bikes being worked on at the moment.  Each was in a different stage of completion.  One bike caught my eye because it had handle bars that could double as playground equipment.  It had a fire paint job that looked brand new, and deadly looking spokes protruded from the wheel of the tire.  It looked like a death machine.  I could hear little girl laughter coming from the side of the garage and headed into that direction.  What I saw when I got there made my breath catch.

Sam was sitting on a stool working on a motorcycle laughing at Janie who was sitting on the seat pretending to drive the motorcycle.

Max walked up beside me and nudged me with his elbow.  I turned my back on Janie and Sam and looked at Max.

“Heard what happened.  You gonna tell James?” he asked quietly

“Yes, this is important, and he needs to know.  Although he told me the other day that he would be out of contact for a while.  Guess I’ll just leave a voicemail and explain in more detail when he calls me back.”

“Yea, that’s what I would do. Get any more letters?” he said as he leaned up against a car lift.

“Nope.” I said.  “I will definitely let you know if I get one.  Do you think that it was Anna who sent that letter? Is there any way that she could know that James is a sniper?”

“No. Why would she know when you didn’t?”  Sam said, startling me.  He had walked up behind me without me even hearing him.  He walked like a freaking ninja.

“Gah!  Can’t you freakin’ warn a brotha’?” I said jokingly.  I tend to joke when I was scared or nervous, and he made me both.

I shifted from foot to foot; nervous now that I didn’t have the Janie situation to distract myself from the fact that Sam and I had sex, and we have this sexual chemistry that tended to burn bright when we are in the same room as each other.

He smiled knowingly and said, “They weren’t together when Sam was in the army.  He joined after she left.”

“Oh yeah, I guess I should have remembered that, huh?” I said dumbly.  “Janie good for you?”

“Yep, she was good.  I gave her some juice and some peanut butter crackers, she said she was hungry.” He said.

Wow.  He knew how to take care of kids apparently.

“Alright, well I am going to take her home now.  Thank you for your help, I sincerely hope that I never have to call you again for that kind of situation.”

   “Welcome.”

I strapped Janie into her car seat, and was rounding the truck when Sam called my name.

 “Cheyenne.”

I looked up and tilted my head, “Yes?”

  “Come ’ere.”

I walked up until I was about a foot in front of him and stopped.  He reached for the back of my neck, curled his hand around, and pulled me to him until his lips landed on mine.  He gave me a hard, deep kiss and let me go.  He disappeared like the ninja he was back into the shop in seconds.

I put Janie to bed over two hours ago, and was just pulling my night shirt over my head while listening to the storm rage outside. I was contemplating what to have for dinner when there was a knock at the door and my heart skipped a beat.  I wasn’t expecting anyone, hence the night shirt.  Chewy started to bark his deep menacing bark.  Walking to the door I looked out the little peephole to see who was there.

Never would I have thought that it would be Sam.  I wasn’t sure where we even stood.  Needless to say, I took the chain off the door, turned the deadbolt and twisted the door knob, blocking his way with my body.

He managed to squish past me, even though I was trying to block his entrance, or at least I had intended for that to be the case, but he did it quite easily.

He walked to the couch and set down the beer and plastic bag he was carrying. He was wearing faded blue jeans, and a royal blue t-shirt, I’d never seen him in anything but black, so this shirt was a nice surprise.  He sat on the couch and leaned over the coffee table rummaging through the plastic bag.  He pulled out three to-go boxes of what smelled like BBQ.  My mouth started watering, but it was not just for the barbeque.

I stared at him until he finally looked up at me questioningly.  He raised his eyebrows at me.  Coming out of my stupor, I called a “Hush” to Chewy who was still barking and turned my attention back to him.

“Are you going to stand there all day or are you going to come eat?” he asked.

“Umm, I was actually wondering what you were doing here.”

“Came to see you.  Got tired of waiting on you to come to terms.  Why else would I be here?” he answered

“Oh, okay.” I said like that made perfect sense to me, even though it didn’t. “I was actually getting ready for bed”, as I made a sweeping gesture with my hand towards my legs that didn’t have any pants covering them.

“Well we can eat, and then go to bed if that is what you want to do.  But don’t put pants on on my account.  I like looking at your legs.” He grinned and said.

I decided to take this in stride.  I actually wanted him here, even though I wasn’t quite sure what our relationship was actually labeled as. There was the one time sex, a bunch of sexual tension, and watching over me that he did.  This was the first actual “date” that we had. I took the throw off the back of the couch and wrapped it around myself.  Sitting on the floor across the coffee table from him, we ate in silence.  I hated silence.  It made me hear things that weren’t there, so I leaned over the table and grabbed the remote that was sitting on the couch beside him.  I pointed it at the TV and turned it on.

The Wiggles were on at the moment, which were Janie’s favorite, so I took the opportunity to DVR it.  Glancing back at him I could see him giving me a questioning look.

I explained, “This is Janie’s favorite show.  She could be in her screaming harpy mode, and I turn on the Wiggles, and she turns into that quiet docile girl that everyone thinks she is all the time.”

  He laughed.” Got it.”

“Anything specific you want to watch?” I said as I scrolled through the menu.

  “Anything but Twilight.”

I sucked in a breath like he just committed the most ungodly sin of all time, and looked at him in horror.  “You don’t like Twilight?!” I said my voice raised a couple octaves.

He looked at me like I had grown a set of horns and shook his head.  Ok, maybe he wasn’t so perfect after all.  Twilight was the shit.  I had an Edward pillow cover.

“I’m not so sure about you anymore.  Twilight is my all-time favorite movie.  It’s a deal breaker for us if you don’t like Twilight.” I said to him.

He let out a sigh and said, “As long as you don’t expect me to enjoy it I’ll watch it with you.”

Heaving a disgusted sigh I started cruising through the channels again, finally stopping on the first Transformers movie.  I squealed in delight, because this movie was the Best EVER!  I even named my car after my favorite character, Optimus Prime.  He just laughed at me when he saw how excited I got.

I finished my pulled pork sandwich, licked my fingers, and then sucked down the rest of my beer.  I let out an unladylike burp, and patted my stomach.

“Nice.” He said sounding amused.  I just smiled, I wasn’t going to change who I was around him, because there was no way I could hide all of my imperfections.  There were just way too many.

“Thanks” I said.  “James and I used to have burping contests.  That’s what you get for hanging out with your big brother so much.  It drives my mom crazy.”

He laughed again and shook his head.  Then he patted his hand beside him indicating that I should get off the floor and sit beside him.  Shrugging my shoulders I decided, oh what the hell.  Standing up, I collapsed beside him, and he pulled me snug against his side, so that we could watch the movie more comfortably.

Before I knew it, I was out like a light.

I awoke a short time later to feel myself being lifted and carried to my bedroom.

”Which door is yours?” he asked.

“Last one on the left.” I replied sleepily and felt movement in that direction.

He gently laid me down on the bed.  He sat on the edge of the bed and pulled his boots off, as well as his t-shirt, stood up and I heard the clink of a belt hit the floor.

Around this time my body started to ignite while I was thinking about all of the interesting possibilities I could do in this situation.

He dashed my hopes my climbing in to bed with me, gathering me in his arms, and whispering, “Sleep.”

I hate orders, so of course I had to have the last word.

“Make me.” I said, then immediately fell asleep.  I thought I heard a chuckle, but I was in la la land, so didn’t I care.

I woke up around three a.m. with my bladder screaming for release.  I eased out from under Sam, who had pinned my body to the bed with his arm.  Shuffling to the bathroom, I felt around with my foot to make sure I didn’t trip over my mess on the floor.  I made it to the bathroom successfully, and then headed out to check on Janie.  Getting back into my room, I stood at the edge of my bed and stared at Sam, he truly was beautiful.  The sheet was covering him up to his hips, with one leg cocked to the side. His arm was thrown up over his head, and the other rested on his stomach.  His dog tags had fallen off to the side of his neck and rested on the bed by his shoulder.

“Get over here.” He said huskily.

My eyes shot to his to see that his eyes were hooded and staring back at me.  I put my knee in the bed and crawled to him.  He grabbed my hand and pulled me on top of him so I was straddling him.  I could feel his erection through the sheet that was covering him. Only a thin layer of my panties and the sheet was keeping my damp heat from getting what it wanted.

I started sliding down, and his hands caught the hem of my t-shirt and pulled it off of me as I got to my destination.  I pulled the sheet down to barring his cock to me.  Holy Cannoli was he big.  I still didn’t see how that would and did fit into me.  The human body could do amazing things.  I slowly lowered my mouth and licked the head of his cock, just like you would a sucker.  I twirled my tongue around, and then licked a straight line down the underside until I hit the root of him.  I followed the veins that were thick and pulsing up and down, again and again until he grabbed my hair.

He pulled my hair so that my head tilted up to look at him.  He put his thumb to my jaw and opened my mouth, then guided my mouth down to his cock and guided himself inside of me.  I took over from there and sucked him, bobbing my head up and down until he yanked my hair and pulled me off of him roughly.

He pulled me up by my armpits, stopping long enough to pull off my panties and toss them over the side of the bed.  Guiding my body so I straddled him, he held his cock with one hand and held the lips of my vagina apart as he thrust upwards into my waiting vagina.

He growled something unintelligible, and grabbed my hips so he could moderate the depth and quickness.

“We have to stop doing this.  It’s going to lead somewhere where that we aren’t ready to be yet.” I gasped out.
