ACKNOWLEDGMENTS
I wish to thank many for their continued advice, help, and guidance with the stories of Will Parker and this novel in particular. Gary Goldstein had contributed immensely to the art of the thriller. He and the many at Kensington, including Karen Auerbach, Adeola Saul, Arthur Maisel, Vida Engstrand, and Alexandra Nicolajsen, are greatly appreciated.
John Talbot has been and continues to be a special advisor, counsel, and source of great knowledge in both creative writing and the publishing industry.
Jennifer Fisher is a most talented editor, and without her help, this novel would still be on page 100. I cannot express my appreciation enough for her guidance and talent.
The Public Affairs Office of the United States Marine Corps has contributed great insights on the continuing reshaping of the Marines: the units and the weaponry. I particularly appreciate the PAO and staff with the Marine Corps Forces Special Operations Command and also those who serve in the Special Operations Commands of the Army, Navy, and Air Force. I purposely do not mention names, for the nature of their continuing missions suggests that I should not; each of them, however, is greatly appreciated.
Also, I wish to thank my fellow writers from Charlotte who are all particularly talented, each in his or her own style. Nancy Nygard, Ellen Morris, and Linda Miller have served as good advisors.
Rick Sheehan is the electronics wizard who keeps the world informed of Parker stories. And I have always appreciated the advice of Meryl Moss, Deb Zipf, and M. J. Rose.
I particularly want to thank the USO for its continued support of the troops around the world and in making the original Operation Thriller occur. Mike Theiler served as the official photographer and worked late many a time, often with only a few hours sleep, to get the photos sent downrange.
Any mistakes are not to be attributed to anyone but the author. I greatly appreciate the readers who have supported these stories by their letters, e-mails, and comments. One kind person told me that my books allowed a relative to escape from the daily routine of chemotherapy. For that one reader, all of this has been worthwhile.
