Maxwell?
A voice laughed.
No, not Maxwell!
"Shame this boat doesn't have a cabin" Blake whispered as he laid down next to me.
I opened one eye. "And what would you want a cabin for?" I knew the answer but hearing it from his mouth gave that extra wow factor.
His fingertips began to run along my bare leg. "I would make love to you sweetly" his eyes beamed with desire. I too was feeling it down below. It had felt like years since we had made love. Maybe it was time to erase Maxwell's touch. After all I had no idea what he was doing or seeing. Me and Maxwell were not together. I leant over and kissed Blake. His lips were soft and tasted familiar. I had missed him. I pulled away and looked up. My cheeks flushed when I saw the captain staring open mouthed.
"Later" Blake laughed and pulled me into him. We spent the rest of the cruise hugging and admiring the views. We looked like any other young couple totally in love and bewildered with each other. I couldn't wait till tonight!!!
I stared at my reflection, was that me? I was wearing the outfit Blake had brought me. Everything about it was perfect. I smiled to myself I had come along way from that clumsy waitress.
"Wow" Blake whistled as he entered the room. "I am going to have to keep my eyes on you tonight."
"Your eyes should always be on me, Mr Waterman" I gave a little twirl. I did feel like a princess. Cinderella all ready to go to the ball. But unlike Cinderella I had my prince Charming . . .
Well two!!
Greedy!!!
I rolled my eyes the voice in my head was getting on my nerves today.
He grabbed my waist and buried his head into my neck. Nuzzling softly and the goosebumps began to appear on my skin. I hadn't had this sensation for a while. "Wait I have an idea!!" He dashed out of the room.
What was he up to now?
He returned carrying his camera.
"Is that work equipment?" I asked raising an eyebrow.
"Yes!" HE gave me that smile. His secret would be safe with me. "Right, give me your best pose!" He held up the camera.
"I suppose it will make a change for you to photograph a woman actually wearing something!" I laughed. Blake narrowed his eyes. I got on with it. I started to give my best fashion model poses with extra pouting. The camera began to flash.
"Fantastic!" Blake began to move round me catching every single angle. I started laughing. I felt such a fool; What a better way to showcase my No1 No.1 Jenny Packham Pale Peach prom dress.
"That's a wrap!" He yelled throwing his camera down on the bed.
"That's not exactly taking care of work property" I teased.
"Let's go!" He ordered.
I picked up my clutch bag."Where are we going?"
"All in good time, Miss Dawson. All in good time." He looked very smug with himself as he escorted me out of the room.
What a wonderful day x
"Jamie's Italian?" I screamed. I loved this restaurant. It was my favourite. I loved the way outside it was boring old Oxford. When you stepped in you felt you had stepped into Italy. It was as if I had walked through the wardrobe to bliss. It was rustic and smelt beautiful. I wished one day I would get the chance to go Italy. It looked such a magnificent place. I had only very been as far as my Dad's villa in Spain. Even though that was as beautiful as it was. Italy was definitely the place I would want to visit.
"I know" he kissed my cheek. "Let's get our table." We walked inside. Blake told the host about our reservations, a woman came over and led us to our table. Blake pulled out my chair and took a seat. I took in my surroundings and gave a sigh of happiness.
"Anything to drink?" the woman asked.
"Yes" Blake picked up a drinks menu and briefly looked at it. He looked up at the woman and gave her the smile. I watched her cheeks flush slightly.
That's how he won me over I giggled to myself.
"We will have BLANC DE BLANCS POL ROGER ." My mouth hit the table.
What?
That was the most expensive bottle of champagne on the menu. He really did what to treat me like a princess. He was going to have to work day and night to pay for this evening. That bottle alone was 120 pounds.
The woman nodded and rushed off.
"What are you playing at?" I asked.
"What?" He looked all innocent and began to study the food menu. I picked mine up and copied. "I just want this to be a special occasion."
"I know, it's not really a special birthday!"
He looked up and his eyes glowed. "Georgina, every birthday I spend with you is a special occasion."
My heart skipped a beat. How did he always find the right things to say? It was as if he was programmed to be charming.
I leant over and kissed his lips. "Ditto." I retook my seat and looked over the menu again. I don't know why. I knew exactly what I wanted. I always had the same. It was boring I know, but when in Rome???
The waitress came over and place our champagne in the middle of the table. She poured us each a glass. "Have you decided?" "Yes" I beamed. "I don't want a starter. Just TAGLIATELLE BOLOGNESE." Blake shook his head. He must of known that was coming.
"Certainly Miss" She wrote it down. "And sir?"
"I'll have the same please" His eyes were still focused on me. The waitress disappeared. "Tonight is going to be a magical night."
"I know."
"Oh no" he began, "I have another little surprise in stall for you."
I looked curious. Another surprise? He had done enough for me already.
Wait my main present? He had said that this morning. It was actually starting to feel a little too much. I didn't deserve any of this after what I had been getting up to just lately. On the other hand why was he doing this? We never normally celebrated birthdays like this. Yet, he had never worked on my birthday before. That must be it. He was feeling bad about not seeing me tomorrow. I didn't want him to feel bad. It was nice to be spoilt though. Who wouldn't want to be treated this way? Everything a woman could want, romantic boat cruise, designer dress with shoes, flowers, expensive champagne and a little surprise. Wow... I couldn't of planned this better if I had tried myself.
I looked over at my handsome man. His blonde hair looked like a halo around his head. There was not another man perfect for me.
Maxwell??
That voice again.
However much I tried to suppress the thought of him out of my mind it never actually went away. No!! Maxwell was not perfect for me. I barely knew him. Only as my boss. That was my plan for him just to remain my boss and nothing else. Why did I keep getting this tingle every time his name popped into my head?
You live in a fantasy world!
Very true!
"Here you go" The waitress placed our plates in front of us. "Enjoy."
Blake raised his glass. "To us" he beamed.
"To us" I beamed back.
I was full from my delightful dinner. We had ordered another bottle of champagne and we were half way through that. I don't know what is about champagne but it always goes to my head. The night was brilliant. We had spent hours talking and laughing about when we met. Even the embarrassing clumsy waitress bits.
"You ready for your surprise?" I nodded. I was dying to see what it was. "Okay." He pulled out a little box and slid it over the table.
I stared down in astonishment. What was it? I picked it up and looked up at Blake.
He was gone.
I started to scan the room and then I felt someone next to me. It was Blake and he was on one knee. Holy shit!
The box? Was it? Could it? Was he?
He got a grip of my hand. I was well aware we had now gained an audience. "Georgina Elizabeth Dawson...."
Oh my god!!! He was! It was!
"I have loved you from the first moment you spilt that coffee all over me!" I flushed. I was a shitty waitress. "I cannot allow another man to take you away from me. I need to know that I will be spending the rest of my life with you. I don't want no one else. I need you. So...." He took a deep breath, other diners had stopped eating and the place had hushed. "Will you marry me?"
I looked around they were all waiting. I was stunned, mouth wide open and my eyes matched. I looked down at Blake again he looked like he was going to pass out from the suspense.
Could I marry him?
Did I want to marry him?
I loved him with all my heart. This is what I needed. I knew if I was going to marry Blake then I would forget about Maxwell. I looked round again and everyone looked like they were holding their breath. Yes making myself more committed to Blake would end all the thoughts of Maxwell. Or would it? I looked down again. Blake eyes were begging for an answer. The whole day had been planned around this precious moment.
But did I want to stop my feelings for Maxwell?
What feelings did I have for Maxwell?
No, I had to give Blake my answer.
I took a long breath. I hoped well prayed I was doing the right thing. ....
"Yes... Blake Waterman I will marry you!" I grabbed his hand and pulled him up. He looked happy like a little kid at Christmas.
"I love you too." I jumped up and threw my arms around his neck. Kissing his face all over. Everyone was clapping and cheering.
He pulled away and grabbed my face. "Do you have any idea what you just did to me?" I shook my head. I was actually happy. Ecstatic even. Blake and I were going to spend our lives together. "I almost had a heart attack."
I laughed. "Pretty sure someone here could of saved you."
"Georgina, you have saved me. You have given me everything I will ever want. I'll make sure to look after you and protect you in every single way possible." His lips embraced mine in a kiss so strong and meaningful. Leaving my lips tingling as he moved away. "You want to wear your ring?"
"Yes please" He handed me the ring box. I slowly opened it and inside was a platinum ring with the biggest diamond I had ever seen.
"Wow!"
"Wow exactly."
CHAPTER 8
I put the phone down.
