"This and that," Jenny said as she peeled out of her clothes to join him.

"I've missed you."

"I'm here," Jenny whispered as she sat in his lap. "I wanted to make sure everyone was down for the night. Vanessa and Kathleen are riding herd on Tyrell's boys. They plan to stay awake all night and ski all day tomorrow."

Josh chuckled. "I remember trying to do that, we seldom made it past eleven o'clock."

"That's what the girls are hoping. I love your family."

"They love you too. Dad and I were talking. After he retires, he is going to buy one of those big motor homes. Mom wants to travel."

"Won't it be hard for her?" Jenny asked concerned.

"Are you kidding? By the time Dad outfits a motor home for her, it will be fit for a queen. They won't be traveling around in a used bread truck with a mattress thrown in the back like we used to do."

Jenny made a humming sound. "I haven't thought of our old truck in a long time. We had good times in it."

"Indeed we did," Josh admitted. "We have come a long way in a very short while."

"You earned it," Jenny said.

"No, actually I didn't, but we are keeping it. It was a fluke of birth and a crazy old man," Josh admitted. "Part of me doesn't want to be grateful to him because part of me still hates that he left me floundering in the system. Yet if I had not been in foster care, I wouldn't have my family, a family who is probably a thousand times better than what he could have offered me. After all, he did disown his only daughter because she was pregnant with me.

"We have to stay grounded for us and our kids. Love has to be nurtured. It has to be fed to stay alive. We almost lost us, and I don't ever want that to happen again."

"I know," Jenny agreed as she turned and straddled him. "I have so much, a husband and children I love. I adore living in Colorado. I wouldn't have believed it was possible this time last year. I have my art again. We have family and friends that are as close as family. I am also pregnant, and hormonal."

Josh smiled. "Oh, yeah, I remember. About now in your pregnancy you want a lot of sex."

"For the next three months, lots and lots," Jenny agreed. "What are you going to do about it?"

"I like this part of you being pregnant," Josh teased as he repositioned her and entered her with a long, hard thrust.

"Mmm…" Jenny mumbled. "It's nice to know. As it so happens, I have a bet with the boys that I can stay awake longer than they can. I have a double chocolate shake riding on it."

"Also, good to know," Josh groaned.

It was only the beginning of a long, slow race of pure pleasure. Over the course of the night, Jenny surrendered as Josh brought her to heights and tortured her on the brink before he took her over the edge and allowed her the release she needed. Sometimes he was demanding of her, sometimes she was demanding of him. They knew each other's bodies, needs, and desires. Sometime near dawn, they collapsed too tired to think, too sated to care.

"I love you," Josh said, as Jenny's voice collided with his and their words overlapped as much as their bodies had.

Hours later, Josh dragged himself awake and stumbled into the room the kids' room. Their beds were empty, and there was a note taped to the back of the door.

"I have the kids. Sleep late – Violet."

As Josh crawled back in bed, Jenny stirred, "Kids?"

"Violet is watching them. Rest easy sweetheart, I'll buy you a chocolate shake, later."

Sometimes it’s hard to pick what I love most beyond my family; I write, paint, renovate and am a voracious reader. The joke in our house about vices--is that mine is books. My idea of the perfect house is the public library, just add a kitchen to make my husband happy, and I would be good with it.  I live in Nevada with my husband, and two dogs that I adore, and lot of scorpions and lizards that still make me scream and act girly.  I love to travel, and I get to travel to visit my grown children who have both chosen to live abroad, one in Ireland and one in England—what could be better. 

I love writing; creating the characters and making them come alive.  For a short time, while they are directing me through their stories, they are alive for me and I hope they are to my readers.  My favorite genres for reading are history, romances, and mystery.  Sometimes I think I spend as much time in research as I do in writing, but it is important to me that the time-periods be correct.  It also makes me one heck of a good trivial pursuit player.

I’m a casual person, enjoying a laid back lifestyle where dressing up means putting on real shoes and not flip-flops, cowboy boots or running shoes.  (The running shoes are not my idea of fun but my husband says if I’m spending all my time on a computer writing, I also have to move—10 miles a day!)
