“Not me, I’m actually excited!” said Kale.

“To tell you the truth, I am a bit disappointed, but I am not upset with you. You bringing life into this world is one of the most beautiful joys you can receive and provide, and the biggest accomplishment you will obtain. I just wish you could have waited until your studies were completed and you were well settled in your career. I know it is going to be a lot harder on you this way, but you are a smart girl and I know you will always be able to land on your feet. We will be here to support you one hundred percent,” Mrs. Weber explained.

“Wait! Who’s the father? You haven’t ever mentioned a boyfriend or even a love interest. I thought that you were too caught up into your work and studies to be doing anything fun. Who have you been sleeping with?” Kale asked.

“Yeah, I really need to meet this guy. Who are his parents? Where is he from? Have his parents raised him with enough tact and sense to be a gentleman and to treat my daughter with the highest regard and respect? Why has he not volunteered to accompany you on this trip? It is the least he could do after he knocked you up. How come he was not man enough to make an honest woman out of you first? Where does he live? Wait; have you two been living together? What school does he attend? He does attend school, doesn’t he? I believe I raised you better than to get yourself knocked up by some hooligan off of the streets. What was his reaction when you told him? Does he know yet?”

Mr. Weber was clearly upset by the news that his daughter had just revealed to him and he refused to hide his feelings. Kale was getting just as upset as he was as she saw how much it was hurting her sister to see their father act the way that he was. It was nothing new for him to be overbearing and over protective of his daughters and it was natural for Sanayah to just sit back and take every blow that he threw. But Kale could not sit back and take any of it without a comment or rebuttal of her own.

“Father! Take a breath and let her answer. Dang. Or at least pass her a pencil to fill out the questionnaire that you just prepared for her. You don’t have to get so nasty with her. My God, you’re questioning her and looking at her like she’s some scandalous whore or something.”

“Thanks Kale, but it’s okay. To answer your questions, yes he does have a job. But no, he does not know yet. I do not feel comfortable enough yet to tell him either. I will tell him though, just in my own way and in my own time. We are not in a relationship, we just find it easier to date each other when we have the time because of our busy schedules and drive for success. We have been friends the whole while I have been living out there and I respected and admired him enough to allow him to spend some time with me every now and then so that I wouldn’t be so lonely at home.”

She almost began to cry when she heard her father’s digs at her and as she thought about her mysterious man and their secretive relationship. She thought about how she soon will have to reveal to everyone who he was and those who knew them would find out that they have been sneaking around and sleeping together. She wondered how he and his family would react when they found out the news.

“You never completely answered all of my questions. Have you two been living together and where does he work? Will he be able to provide for you and my grandchild?”

Caught off guard, Sanayah comes back to reality.

“Oh yeah, well no, we do not live together. He does have his own place; a fairly nice place. Yes he has been to college and is highly educated. He actually works at the firm in which my internship is held, Simpson and Smith Law Firm. His dad, Mr. Samuel Smith Sr., is the CEO of the firm. No one at the firm knows that we were seeing each other because I am an intern there and wanted to get hired on post graduation.”

“Wow! Mommy and Daddy both lawyers and Grandpa owns his own law firm. This baby just hit the jackpot!” Kale smiled and said.

“Seriously, you know you will have to tell them soon, don’t you? That man and his family deserve the right to know and be able to be in his child’s life. Are they good people?” Mrs. Weber asked.

“Yes they are. Mr. Smith is somewhat of a shark, but Samuel is nice, sensitive, and considerate. I will make sure I tell him, just not now.”

“I want to meet this guy and his family,” Mr. Weber ordered.

“Okay Dad, you will. I promise.”

They chat a little more until the doctor comes in and tells her that she is nine weeks pregnant. The fetus is okay and healthy and she will be too. He advised her to get some rest, plenty of it, and something nutritious to eat. He also informed her that she was dehydrated and should start drinking more water. He handed her a cup of water to drink now and then told her that the nurse would soon be there with some breakfast for her. He asked her more questions about her seeing a doctor and when he was convinced enough that she would take care of herself and her baby, she was released.

Chapter 11

October is sitting at work in the bakery of the H-E-B Plus bored out of her mind. Just like every other night, she has to close by herself. Every other employee from her department has gone home for tonight so she has no one to talk to. Every now and again, someone from another department would pass by and speak with her for a brief moment, but mostly everyone else was in their department is trying to hurry up and close just as she was. She quickly gets a naughty thought in her head as she decides to text Rick to see what he has up his sleeve for the night.

While she waited on the peanut butter cookies to cool off a bit so she could package them, she pulled out her phone and sent, “Hey sexy, what you doing?”

She closed her phone and sat it on the table. Then she walked over to the area where all the packaging supplies were and grabbed around thirteen package boxes and walked back over to the table and noticed her phone was lighting up and vibrating. Rick had already responded to her text.

“At hm chillin wit my bros, u?”

“What you tryna get into tonight?”

              “U!!!”

She smiled. That’s exactly what she wanted to hear, or in this case, see.

“I get off in a couple of hours. I’ll let you know when I’m on my way.”

“K. Make sho u call frst n let me kno.”

              “Okay”

October puts her phone back into her smock pocket and finishes packaging the cookies, bread, and rolls. She then bakes some more French bread, her last batch for the night, and began doing her break-outs. In the middle of her break-outs, the oven starts to beep letting her know that her bread is ready. October takes it out and lets it cool for a minute before she bags it and sets it out for the customers. She finishes up her break-outs and starts to clean up. It is now eight fifteen p.m. and the bakery closes at nine. October is so happy for two main reasons;  one because it is close to time for her to be getting off of work, which always makes her happy, and she knows that she has some good dick waiting for her when she gets off, and that is always something very nice to look forward to.

It usually takes her anywhere from thirty minutes to a little over an hour to finalize all of her cleaning depending on the night. Since it was a Friday that was already busy, she knew that she would be getting out of there around nine thirty. She sprayed and wiped down all of the tables and cleaned all of her tools and dishes. One thing that she really hated was the fact that she had to stop like every five minutes to help out a customer. At nine o’clock she texted Rick again to let him know that she was off.

His response was, “Dnt cum yet. My bros ova hea n we playn the game. Ill let u kno whn they leave.”

October started thinking, oh no, that nicca bet not start that having me wait all night, because I ain’t having it.

She texted back, “Alright, but I hope it don’t take too long because I’m ready to go home and go to bed.”

“No. Plz dnt do dat. Its alot of them hea but they shld be gon n like 30 min. They bn hea all day. Stay up for me n I’ll make it worth the wait. I promise!”

              “Okay. You better.”

She started to sweep and pressure wash the floors; a few customers stopped by wanting something from the Cakery window, but she did what she usually does at the end of a busy day when she was tired and worn out, she told them that the bakery was closed and finished up her cleaning. She also ignored their attitude, remarks, and questions. She did not care; she was ready to get off. The customers be so pissed and always say the same things to October. “But you are still here, you can’t just get me one thing?” or “Well, I didn’t know you closed at nine. The store doesn’t close until midnight.” or “You’re really not gonna get it for me?” October would only give in when she was feeling nice, which was not too often. But she would usually turn them down because she knew from experience that when she walked over there to help one person, more show up from out of nowhere or they don’t just want one thing and they take their time trying to decide and she’ll end up staying over an extra thirty minutes or more. Sometimes, they would even go looking for her manager or someone to tell on her to, but by the time they finally find someone she would already be out of the door. Most nights, she’s usually trying to run out of there to study or finish some homework or just get some rest, but this night she was running out to something different.

Once she was done, she called the store supervisor so that they could check the bakery for her and tell her if she could leave or not. As usual, the one in charge tonight did not bother to come check and just told her to have a great night. She sat at the computer and checked her schedule for next week and left. She clocked out at nine forty two p.m.

October decided to text Rick once again while leaving out the store and walking to her car. She unlocked the doors and sat in the car a good five minutes and Rick still had not responded. She did not think too much of it and decided to head over toward the dorms anyhow. She did not want to waste her time and gas, but knew that if she went home first she would not be leaving back out tonight.

She texted him again, “I’m on my way home. I guess we won’t be able to see each other tonight.”

She was already headed toward his house; she just wanted to scare him up a little bit and make him believe that if he did not respond quickly, he would miss out on the booty.

Just as she thought, and to be honest hoped, he replied with, “Oh no baby I was jus gettn out da shwr. U can still cum ova.”

October responded, “K, I’m on my way.”

She was thinking, this nicca bet not stand me up cause I’m horny as hell tonight. She wished she was not, so she could just go on home and get in her bed, but it had been a while since she last had some and she felt she deserved it. Just then her phone rang. It was Sanayah.

When October got to the parking lot of the Lamar dorms, she parked next to Rick’s phase and put her car in park. Still on the phone with Sanayah, she did not get out of the car just yet. Sanayah had called to let her know that she had made it home safe. She told October that she had told her family and about the whole passing out situation. Even though she had declined over and over, Kale had decided to miss class and spend a few days with Sanayah and she had been very grateful for it. Kale wanted to accompany her sister to her first doctor’s visit. Sanayah was just calling to inform October of what was going on with her and to thank her for her support and helping her throughout the whole ordeal. She was tired and told her that she would talk to her later and that she needed to get some rest.

“Okay babes, I love you and I will talk to you later.”

“Okay, love you too hon. You and Kale have a good night.”

As they hung up, October realized that she and Sanayah had been on the phone for over forty minutes. She had three missed calls from Rick and she was about to call him back and let him know that she was outside when she noticed this car that had just pulled up and parked right in front of her. The driver was actually parked one aisle across from October with the back of the car facing October. The driver’s license plate was customized and it was what caught October’s eye
.
There was not anything spectacular about it and she would not have paid it any mind except something inside her was telling her to sit there and see who got out of the car.

When the girl stepped out, right away October noticed that it is a girl she went to high school with. The girl is on her phone, hanging up when she steps out of her car. She never knew how she knew the girl or how the girl thought she knew her, but during high school the girl used to always speak to her. October would always just speak back, thinking that they must have shared a mutual friend or something. Being pretty well-known, well-liked, and well-respected, October was often spoken to or approached by other students who she had no clue who they were or their names for that matter. Knowing that she remembered the girl had been at least two or three years under her and was not yet enrolled in the university, she had to be coming up there to visit someone. The girl was dressed  really cute which also made October believe that she was coming to meet someone, specifically a guy, and something inside of October wanted to sit back and watch to see who the guy was. Knowing what kind of player Rick was, it just might be him or one of his bros, who were also big players , that she was coming to meet.

By the time the girl reached the entry gate, all that October suspected came true. She stood and waited for a minute and then it happened. Rick walked up and pressed the button for the gate to open, allowing the girl to come in and they walked off together.

October was so pissed. She called Rick just to see what would happen: if he would reject it, just not answer it, ignore it, or answer it and act all weird. She called him three times but unfortunately there was no answer. As she watched him she realized that he did not reject it. From the looks of it, he must have left his phone in his room.

She texted him “I’m here.” to see what his response would be or if he would even respond at all.

She drove off pissed and horny and headed home. She wasn’t even upset at the fact that Rick talked and messed around with other girls. October was upset because it was supposed to be her night to get that dick and Rick had just totally played her.
Why couldn’t he just have been honest and told her from the beginning not to come over. Dang, I need a more reliable guy.
She refused to have a backup guy for her own respectful reasons even though tonight she half wished she had one.

October was stopped at a stop light five minutes away from her mother’s house when she received a text from Rick.

              “Where you at?”

October laughed to herself and replied.

“I am almost home and I refuse to turn around; you ignored me and had me waiting for you too long.”

“Im srry my phone was n da otha rm n I didnt hear it. Plz turn around n cum back.”

October turned her phone off and continued to drive towards her mother’s house. She did not even bother telling him what happened because she did not care to talk about it. October wondered what was going on in his mind and did he really expect her to come back and be with him after he was with someone else. She looked at the clock on her CD player and noticed that it had been exactly thirteen minutes since she left the Lamar dorms and she thought, dang, they sure got done rather quickly. Whenever her and Rick were together, he never got done that quickly and she figured the girl had to already be gone for him to want to text her.

Oh well, whatever was going on October did not want to deal with it tonight. She picked up Que and was tempted to stay the night at her mother’s but decided to go home to get in her own bed with Que and sleep in all day the next day.
