When she still stood there like a statue, he decided to help her out a bit. Tugging the hand he still held tight in his own, Sam pulled her facedown over his lap. When she began to struggle, he lifted a leg over hers, trapping her lower half. One hand at the back of her neck made it impossible for her to lift her upper body. With his free hand, Sam retrieved the paddle she’d used on him mere minutes before.

“Now, we can do this the easy way or the hard way.” He lifted her skirt, exposing her bare ass completely. “Your choice.”

“It’s nothing really.”

Had she always gotten away with using such evasive crap answers with her other boyfriends and had they been okay with it? Sam couldn’t even imagine the total chaos and confusion that type of relationship would offer. Maybe her lack of communication skills was the reason why she was still single.

Well, she was about to get lesson number one, Sam Caster style. He didn’t bother to rub the paddle over her ass or warn her what was coming. The first smack of wood against her ass brought forth a high-pitched yelp. There was an immediate rectangular red mark where it had landed.

“I’m perfectly good with the hard way, Trouble.” This time he landed a blow to the opposite cheek. A soft sob wafted to his ears. “When you agreed to be mine for the weekend, I was clear about owning everything, including the privacy of your thoughts, for our time together. Was I not?”

She was probably pissed, which he could entirely understand, but there was no way in hell he’d allow her silence any more with this question than he had with the first, so he peppered her ass, back and forth across each cheek, until they were fire red and she was openly crying.

“Was I not clear on my expectations, Delilah?” he asked one more time.

“Y-yes Sir,” she hiccoughed on a sob.

“I don’t understand what the problem is then.” He truly did not. One minute she’d been doing a fine job of topping him and the next she’d appeared to have some sort of an issue with their little game.

When she began to cry noisily, all the while trying to talk, Sam let her up. He couldn’t figure out a word of what she’d been saying. When he turned her to kneel in front of him, it was to see her face streaked with mascara and tears. A sight he truly loved to witness but would have to save for later.

“Slow down and tell me what’s wrong.”

“I just realized I can’t do this.”

Her voice was barely above a whisper. Her words made his heart sink. Was she fucking kidding? Did she have no idea how well she’d served?

Chapter Four

Delilah’s ass burned and her feet were starting to tingle, but she stayed just the way Sam had placed her. She was so embarrassed, so utterly shocked by how much hitting him had made her stomach turn. When he’d offered the bargain, she’d been all for it.

Finally, a way to give the bossy man a taste of his own medicine. She’d been so sure it would work. Delilah had hoped he’d have a switch or something similar in his toy bag, but when she didn’t find anything like it, she’d decided on the paddle, knowing it would sting like hell.

Of course now she knew firsthand exactly how much it stung and deserved every single stroke of the menacing implement. She had no one to blame but herself for wanting to show him what it was like when he had years of experience on her.

“I’ve never hit anyone before.” Delilah couldn’t look at him. What he must think of her. “I can’t do that.”

“Is that what this is about? I thought maybe you’d decided you couldn’t submit.”

Delilah peered up at him then. “No, although I evidently have issues there too.”

He chuckled then. The sound was raspy, sexy as hell. “Nothing we can’t work out.” He stroked the paddle, making her shiver slightly at the reminder of how much that damn thing hurt.

“So your issue is that you have no desire to hit people?” He sounded somewhat confused.

“Yeah. I guess. The flogger wasn’t so bad. It’s soft and light, but I knew the paddle would hurt.”

“You do realize that topping and even S&M play doesn’t have to include impact play, don’t you?”

Delilah thought about it for a minute before nodding. “I hadn’t really thought about it, but I see what you’re saying.”

“Why did you choose the paddle?”

Oh how she didn’t want to answer. To admit her reason was going to sound completely awful, and yet she knew he would leave her no choice but to do exactly that.

When she looked down at her hands, Sam lifted her chin with a finger, forcing the issue. “Because there wasn’t a switch in your bag and I wanted you to feel what it was like.” He didn’t seem at all surprised, but Delilah felt like crying again. She held it back, biting her bottom lip when her chin began to wobble.

“Do you think it worked?”

Why did he sound so damn calm? She’d just admitted to wanting to hurt him as a means of retaliation. How pathetic and juvenile was that!

“No Sir.”

“And why not?”

It hit Delilah then. She wasn’t merely in lust with this fine specimen of man and all the erotic things he could teach her, she respected him more than she had any other man in her life, with the exception of her own father.

She’d met men who insisted on respect and those who could care less, but never had she met a man who, by his own actions, offered no other choice but to realize he wasn’t all talk.

Leaving him after the weekend was over might be a little harder than she’d planned. Knowing so meant she was going to do everything in her power to serve him in every way possible, including making him privy to the feelings she usually kept inside, held in reserve only for herself.

“Because we’re different people who enjoy different things. I don’t like hitting and you do while you don’t like receiving and I do.” She rubbed her bottom then, her face burning. “Well, some of it I like.”

He laughed again then pulled her to him for another rousing kiss. “We all have our strengths and weaknesses, things we like and dislike. Learn what they are, Lila, and then venture out from there. No need to do things that make you feel bad, such as hitting others, especially when there are so many of us who enjoy that side of the coin.”

His tone became somber then. “Do you know why I paddled you?”

Just the mention of it had Delilah’s face feeling warm with embarrassment again. She nodded. “And I deserved all of it too.”

“Why is that?”

He was getting at something, but she wasn’t quite sure what. Deciding to tread carefully, she answered, “Because I shouldn’t have tried to get you back for hitting me with that switch.”

“That has absolutely nothing to do with it, Trouble. I knew that was your plan when you made the deal with me.”

“You knew?”
He knew!
“Why then?”

He pulled her up so she could kneel up in front of him. “Because you didn’t come when I told you to. You agreed to follow my orders this weekend and to the consequences if you didn’t. That was the consequence for not taking my hand the first time I put it out to you.”

“Oh.” She should have known that, but she’d been so caught up in feeling guilty it hadn’t even registered. It still seemed strange he would agree to half an hour with her as the top if he knew what she had planned. “Why would you even offer such a deal, knowing I planned to make you pay?”

“I wanted to see what you would do. It’s simply another way of getting into your head, Lila, of understanding you better.”

“And to get fifteen minutes to do whatever you want,” she reminded him.

This time his laugh was rich and dark, rolling over her body like warm chocolate. “I didn’t need fifteen minutes, Trouble.” He lifted her chin until she had no choice but to meet his gaze head-on. “You already gave me the whole weekend.”

At that, he swatted the hot flesh of her ass with his bare hand. The sensation was completely different than that of the paddle. Probably due to the headspace and the fact he was holding her tenderly against him, ravaging her mouth as he did so.

Oh hell, she thought. He had the whole weekend! What a fucking idiot she was. Delilah groaned as he deepened the kiss. He was a sneaky, sneaky man for sure.

Sam’s hands roamed her body, smacking and pinching wherever he wanted to while not once releasing her lips. He nibbled and licked, sucked her tongue in his mouth, chuckling against her lips when she made sounds of protest.

“That’s kind of gross,” she said when they finally pulled apart.

“Mmm. I’m glad you think so. I’ll have to be sure and do it more often.”

One of these days Delilah would learn to keep her mouth closed. Probably not anytime soon, but someday.

Sam wiped his thumb across her cheek, reminding Delilah that she must look like hell. The look in his gaze as he watched her stole all thought of getting up to go wash her face.

“Your tears made me rock-hard. Would you like to cry for me some more, Lila?” Her pussy clenched with desire at the inflection of his voice. It was rough with need, controlling. He may have voiced a question, but she knew he didn’t actually expect an answer. Her choices were to give herself over to him and cry or to leave.

Her hands began to shake, wondering what he might have planned even as she felt moisture gather between her thighs. Delilah’s logical side was screaming for her to run while the other side, the one who wanted to please him, to cry for him, to experience everything he offered was yelling bring it on!

“I can see your wheels spinning, girl. I think watching the struggle is nearly as beautiful as the actual tears.” He kissed her softly across the forehead before getting to his feet and stepping around her.

Delilah stayed as she was although she craned her neck around to see what he was doing. When he went to one of the big black duffel bags that housed his toy collection, she shivered. Whether in anticipation, fear or both, she didn’t know.

“Strip down and come sit over here on the chair.”

While removing her clothes, she noticed him drape the chair with first a sheet of plastic and then a large beach towel. Now she really was nervous. What could he possibly have planned that he needed plastic for easy clean up? She grew dizzy thinking about the possibilities.

“Come sit down, Trouble.” His tone brooked no argument, and since her ass was still on fire, she didn’t really plan to give him one.

Sam could tell she wanted to balk again. He watched her gaze dart to the door even as her feet moved her in his direction. Taking control when the body’s fight or flight mechanism set in was not an easy thing to do. When she made it to him, he smiled. “Such a good girl you are.”

Her eyes crinkled at the corners, a smile of sorts, but her mouth didn’t match it. Hard to do when she had her bottom lip clamped firmly between her pearly-white teeth.

“Enough of that. If anyone is going to bite that lip, it’ll be me.” He rubbed a thumb across the plump softness, pulling it free in the process.

She sat when he motioned her to but continued to stare wide-eyed at him and then at the tackle-box-style container he’d pulled from his bag of tricks.

“What’s your favorite number?”

The look of confusion to cross her face was cute. “Eight.”

Sam eyed her cleavage then nodded. “That’ll work perfectly.”

It was obvious he was only confusing her more. “It will?” she asked then shook her head as if to clear it. “What will? Ummm, it’ll work perfectly for what, Sir?”

Sam watched Delilah as he pulled a pair of latex gloves and some alcohol swabs from the box. Her face drained of a bit of color at both. Poor thing was going to really have trouble not running when he pulled out the eight small-gauge needles he’d need for the scene.

The moment she realized what he was doing became glaringly obvious by the way she clutched the chair in a white-knuckled death grip.

If only he could be inside her head, see through her eyes, know exactly what she was thinking, feeling. Instead he would have to make due with hearing her say the words.

“What are you thinking?”

“That this isn’t such a good idea. I don’t like needles.”

That much Sam had already guessed. Now to gather more information. “Why?”

She looked at him as if he were completely insane for even asking the question. “Because they’re needles.”

As if that were reason enough. “I know plenty of people who love needle play.”

“Well, I’m sure I’m not one of them.”

From her tone, she completely believed it too. “Do you pass out when you get a shot or have blood drawn at the doctor’s office?”

“No.”

“Okay, good.” He continued setting up for the scene he had planned. “Do you faint at the sight of blood?”

If he wasn’t mistaken, she’d lost a little more color. “No.”

Sam nodded then reached into a zip-close bag for some ribbon and a vibrating toy. “Then it’s just something you don’t think you really want to do?”

Delilah nodded in what he could only describe as genuine relief. “I completely understand.”

Color came back into her face. She seemed happy that he agreed. Not to mention the fact that he’d brought the toy up to the apex of her thighs, which she’d readily parted in hopes of attaining the pleasure it could bring.

“Stand up and let’s see what kind of fun you can have with this.” The toy was shaped like a long C. There was an insertable end that was made to snuggle right up to the woman’s G-spot. The other end curled over the clit. It was a toy he’d heard much about and so purchased it with Delilah in mind. After discarding the packaging, he pressed one end into her moist depths, enjoying the way she squirmed to get closer, her pupils dilating with arousal.

He nudged her back into the chair before reaching for a set of nipple clamps. She eyed them dubiously but remained still as he put the first one on, tightening it until she gasped, then repeating the clamp and gasp series with her other nipple. With her mind on the clamps, she might not try to deck him as the first needle slid through her creamy, pale flesh.

Sam picked up an alcohol prep pad then proceeded to tear it open right in front of Delilah. When he started cleansing the area in ever-widening circles, she stopped breathing. “I thought we weren’t going to do needles?” The question came out on a shuttering exhalation.

“I never said that, Trouble.”

She shook her head. “No, but you agreed.”

Tugging on the chain connecting the clamps, Sam pulled her closer to him. “I said I understood. And I do.” He kissed the tip of her nose before letting the chain go.

He could tell when she got what he’d said. Her eyes narrowed, a deep furrow forming between her brows. She probably wanted to tell him off, using every curse word she’d ever heard, but didn’t. Her silence at this particular moment only added to the things he was growing to truly like about the woman.
