Jane couldn’t help but smile at the girl. She looked like one serious train wreck but Jane was intrigued. The girl ran from five streets over in heels and a pencil skirt. She was determined Jane would give her that. Jane offered her a seat and grabbed some water for the heavily breathing girl.

“Well I’m glad you didn’t hurt yourself running over here. Usually I don’t deal with people who are late but I’m interested to hear more about you after seeing your determination just to make the interview. Tell me what brings you to Atlanta?”

Jane saw a dark cloud pass over Patty’s eyes. Jane wondered if
her move to Atlanta was a sensitive subject for the girl. Patty took a second to gather herself and answered the question.

“I needed a fresh start and my best friend
, April, lives in the area. I thought it would be a good move for me.”

Jane was
interested, there was defiantly some history there. She wasn’t going to push her for the details right away but if she did hire her, she would get to the bottom of that conversation.

Jane asked, “How do you like it in Atlanta so far?”

Patty perked up a bit. “Oh I like it much better than New York. The weather is amazing and the people are so much friendlier. The area is great too, so much to do.”

Jane asked her some more questions about her history. She found out she actually played basketball for Marist College where she attended school. She was a point guard since she was the shortest on the team and the best ball handler. Jane liked that she was on a
team because it showed Patty could handle responsibility and could be a leader if Jane needed her to be. Her wait staff and catering experience was a plus and her internship gave her great experience working in all different types of event atmospheres. They got a little off track when they started comparing chicken salad sandwiches and egg salad sandwiches but Jane didn’t mind. It was great to actually feel a connection with someone.

Patty seemed extremely determined to make it on her own and reminded Jane of herself. She admired that about Patty. Jane knew how hard it was to make a name for yourself and if she had any help
. It might have been a little less stressful on her. She decided that Patty was in the same boat she was a couple years back, but Jane wanted to offer this girl the help Jane wished she had.

“You’
re willing to work weekends, right?” Jane knew it was stupid question because if you’re into event planning you could bet two tits and a ball sac that you would work weekends.

Patty replied, “Of course, I
expect to work weekends and I’m very flexible. I have nothing holding me down right now.”

Jane was curious. “No husband, children or boyfriends in the mix?”

“Nope, completely single and so not ready to mingle. My friend April likes to take me out to meet guys but I’m just not ready yet. I got mixed up in a very abusive relationship and I’m not ready to take on more than I can handle. Right now I’m focused on nothing but myself and my career.”

Very interesting.
Yes, Jane wanted to help Patty. Jane offered her the job on the spot which made Patty jump up and hug her. Jane couldn’t help but laugh and hug her back. They talked about her pay scale, said their good byes and Jane sent Patty on her way. Jane was excited to have Patty working with her. They both had the same mind set and they were both very much determined. Jane thought with both of their strengths they had the possibility to really take JB Events to the next level.

Jane was so excited and there was only one person she truly wanted to share it with. She called Brady. She had not talked to him on t
he phone in a while, they mostly communicated through text messages because he was so busy or too tired. It started to worry her. Was he already bored with her? Brady’s phone went to voicemail. Jane groaned out loud and waited for the beep.

Hey Brady, it’s me. Just calling you to let you know I hired someone. Her name is Patty O’Neil and I think she is going to be great for my business. She looks like Amy Adams so you better not drool all over her when you meet her. Um, kind of sad you didn’t answer your phone. I miss your voice and I miss you. I guess I will talk to you later. I love you Handsome. Bye”

Brady’s heart pained when he listened to Jane’s voicemail. It killed him not to talk to her but he really wanted to throw her off. If he talked to her on the phone he knew he would spoil the surprise.

He was so happy for her that she hired someone and ha
d the opportunity to be able to take her business to the next level. She did everything on her own and used the resources she had to prevail. She was one hell of a business woman.

Brady had to get packed. His plane was going to leave in a couple of hours and he was still sweaty from practice and had nothing packed. If he had it his way he would pack noth
ing because he would have preferred to be naked with Jane the entire time he was there but he knew that was not an option. He had a plan and the plan required clothing. He sent Jane a quick message.

Brady: Got your message baby, so happy for you. Sorry I can’t talk right now. Going into a meeting, don’t know how long I will be. Love you.

Brady hated misleading Jane but it was all for a good purpose. If anything went seriously wrong he knew Molly would have his back and rein in any negative thoughts Jane might have of their relationship. He could just see her start to freak out because they had not talked on the phone in a while, little did she know she would talk to him in person in just a short time.

Chapter 19

“He is cheating on me, I know he is. Molly what am I supposed to do?”

Molly listened to her friend freak out
while flailing her arms about and pacing, practically naked in her room. Boy was she going to regret what she was saying right now. Brady called Molly a couple of days ago saying he wanted to surprise Jane but he needed her help. Molly came up with a great plan to throw Jane off by limiting the amount of calls Brady made to Jane. She suggested that she convince Jane to go out to Deuces since that was where they first met and he would be in the VIP area waiting for her with all their friends. She knew Jane would freak out but little did Molly know her friend would drive her up a wall with the constant questions about her and Brady’s relationship. She wanted to wring Jane’s neck.

Brady backed off a little
with Jane because he was awful at keeping secrets and said he was too excited he might let something slip. So he kept their conversations to simple text messages and quick calls at night, if any. Because of that, Jane had the impression that he was either no longer interested or was cheating on her. Granted, that was how George wound up cheating on her so she understood Jane’s implications but she wanted to flick her friend in the head and shout he fucking loves you, moron!

“He is not cheating on you Jane, now get dressed. Albert is waiting on us and Luke is meeting us there I don’t want to be late.

Jane groaned. “I don’t even know why I agreed to going out with you tonight, I’m so not in the mood. I just want to sit on my couch, listen to ‘Chicken Soup for the Soul’ on tape and drown myself in pudding.”

“Jane that is so pathetic I can’t even take listening to it. You are not 80 years old with a crusty vagina now get dressed
. I’m sick of staring at your underwear choice, even though I appreciate the red. It’s hot.”

“Thanks, it was a present from Brady, he loves picking out my under garments. What should I wear?”

“Wear that sexy red dress, the same one you wore when you met Brady. It will match your bra and thong perfectly. Although I have been examining that strip of fabric covering your lady cactus and I don’t even know if that falls under the classification of underwear. Seriously, you have become quite the slut and I’m loving it!”

Jane laughed
, grabbed her dress and went in the bathroom. Brady asked Molly to make sure she wore that dress. He told her how he so wished he could re-enact that night because it got ruined by George. Jane was going to lose her mind when she saw Brady. Molly couldn’t wait at all to see her reaction. Jane stepped out of the bathroom looking sizzling.

“Damn
chica! I might get a little frisky with you tonight.”

“I
t would be the most action I’ve had in weeks. Let’s go before I change my mind.”

Brady waited in the back of the VIP room Albert set up for the night. He decided that he was going to come up from behind and surprise Jane instead of waiting for her out in the open. It was going to be hard to not run up to her right when he saw her but it was worth the surprise. He received a text message from Molly saying they were five minutes away. Brady brought Michael, Marc and Austin, the rookie back home with him. They waited in the back with Brady as well.

Brady felt like puking and taking a leak at the same time. God
, what was he so nervous about? It wasn’t like she would slap him in the face when she saw him. She would be excited, right?

Brady saw Molly walk i
n and then he spotted Jane. Damn. She looked dick throbbing good. She was by far the most attractive lady in the joint and she had on the dress she wore when they first met. It hugged her curves perfectly and gave her the most amazing cleavage he had ever seen. All he wanted at that moment was to bury his head in her chest. She did some kind of twisty concoction with her hair and stuck a red flower in the back. Yea, he would be ripping that out later and watching her hair fall over her shoulders.

Molly and Jane went
straight for the bar and grabbed drinks. He watched every guy turn their gaze at Jane as she sashayed her way through the bar. It took all his energy not to go up to each and every one of the creeps and yank their heads off.

Albert called the girls
over once they received their drinks and sat them down at his table with Jane’s back toward Brady. Perfect. Brady let them get their pleasantries over with and start a conversation before he came out from hiding so that Jane was distracted and didn’t notice him approaching.

He could not wait any longer, Molly lit up when Brady approached
Jane which made him nervous, he needed Molly to stay calm and not give him away. He placed his mouth right next to Jane’s ear and whispered, “Fuck, Chuck or Marry; Brad Pitt, George Clooney and Matt Damon?”

Jane felt someone creep come up behind her as she talked to her friends and just hoped the creep was not going to linger around for too long. If he did, she knew Albert would take care of him. Then she heard Brady’s voice and her heart fluttered, she screamed and turned around.

There he was grinning like a fool at her as well as Michael and two other of his teammates. He flew o
ut here to surprise her? Oh my God, and she had just bitched about him earlier, accused him of cheating on her. She was an idiot. She had never been so excited in her life. She missed Brady so much and just seeing him in person eased all the tension out of her body.

God he looked good. He
wore some nicely fitted darker jeans and a button up shirt un-tucked with the sleeves rolled up. Mmm, she just wanted to rip his clothes off right there.

She jumped up
, flung herself around him and wrapped her arms around his neck and her legs around his waist. She felt her dress slide up to just under her ass but she didn’t care if she was showing her vagina at that point, her Brady was home. She captured his mouth with hers and kissed him senseless. She let out a slight moan in her mouth when his tongue slid against hers and played with her lips.

Molly shouted, “I’
m going to start charging people to come in here to catch the soft porn act we have going on right here if you two don’t stop. I’m getting all hot and bothered just looking at you.”

Jane laughed and let herself down resting one hand on Brady’s chest while the other wrapped around his waist. She pl
ayful swatted him and said, “I’m mad at you.”

Brady looked at her with shock and replied, “What? Why? I fly out here to be with you and you are mad
at me? What am I missing here?”

Jan
e laughed and said, “Because I’m assuming you have been here for a while and we could have at least fucked twice by now.”

Molly shouted, “That’s
my girl, a round of shots on me!” Luke grabbed her from behind and made her sit on his lap.
