“Jil dear, could you please calm down and let me explain please?”

“I hope this is not what I am thinking!” she interrupted while throwing the glass of smoothie leftover at him; having missed his face by a few inches it ended up in the mirror of her white wardrobe causing it to break into fragments.

“Jil, are darn crazy why are you trying to hurt me?”

“Are you going to tell me what happened or not, I am still waiting.  Where did those come from?” Jilean enquired as she held a tin of spray starch in her hand with tears flowing from her eyes.

“If you would just calm down then…”

“Calm down?  MY HUSBAND WENT INTO THE HILLS YESTERDAY AND HE IS BACK WITH INFLUENZA AND SCRATCHES ALL OVER HIS BODY AND ALL YOU CAN SAY IS CALM DOWN?” Jilean roared as she move closer to Thames.

Thames managed to skillfully disarm her of the tin of spray starch as she came closer to him.

“I truly love you honey, I honestly do,” Thames reacted as he held her closely in his arms while trying to prevent her from hurting him; this did not work as she forcefully kicked him in his groin area and gave him a ruthless slap in his face when he took his hands off her.

“I think I’ll take care of this,” she said as she ran from the room.

“Jilean, where are you going?”

About my business, you have been about yours!” Jilean replied.

“Jilean, you are over reacting!”

“I have business to take care of!”  She replied as she slammed the doors and headed off.

The pink plaid and purple and white stripes that Jilean wore to her office heralded the fact that something went terribly wrong at home.   She was just not her usual self; she behaved rather reserved in contrast to her usual up and about demeanor.

Are
you Ok Mrs. Snowy?”  Jeanette asked while they sat at the cream colored table in the violet painted cafeteria.  Jeanette was her designer who was very engaging and was also quite nosy but very eagle-eyed.

“Boss you can talk to us, we know this is not you; you are not ok.” Tia engaged after supping her hot coffee.  Tia was her secretary who had quite a free spirited bearing.

“Listen Jilean, there is nobody in this kitchen but the three of us, you can talk to us, we have your back, plus, we are the closet persons to you - well, apart from your husband.” Jeanette replied as she noticed Jilean staring through the only window in the room obviously not planning to utter a word to anyone.   Jeanette and Tia were the two closest persons to Jilean; she shared everything with them – well almost everything.

They both hugged Jilean as she remained mute, they really wanted to help.

“Is it Thames?” Jeanette enquired causing Jilean to break down in tears.

“Is he cheating on you?” Tia asked

“Not sure,” Jilean replied.

“Finally we got you to say something.” Tia responded

“What happened dear?” asked Jeanette as she started wiping tears from her own eyes.

“Who is the hooker?” Tia questioned with her mouth pointing like an arrow.

“I suspect that it may be our real estate agent –Chrissel Parks, they went to look at a property in Pear River View and he came home with a cold..”

“Just a cold?”  Tia probed; she was overly attentive - this was one of her favorite topics.

Well this morning I really felt for him and started exploring his body and found scratches all over his chest and back.”

“Were they there the night before?” Jeanette questioned while she remain quite calm.

“Well, I really could not say,” Jilean replied while folding her hands.

“Well what about the week before?” Tia probed.

“Not sure.”

“When was the last time?” Tia continued probing.

“Last time what?” Jilean asked.

“The last time you have seen his body … scratch free?”

“Months,” replied Jilean with her head hanging downward.

“That may be your problem girl,” Tia replied.  “Boss, let me take care of this for you, just tell me where is this bawd, where can I find her?” Tia continued as she started putting her heels on.

“Calm down Tia, just calm down.”  Jeanette engaged.

“Calm down Tia? Are you crazy, her
good good
husband has been tampered with and all you can say is Calm?  Well if you say Calm, I say Storm!” Tia snarled.

“Jilean my dear, you will have to work this out with Thames – stuff does happen,” Jeanette encouraged while hugging her boss.

“Did you say work it out?  Tell me Jilean, we can take either of two routes: we can beat this harlot or you give your little
philanderer
a dosage of his own medicine –
the male species love to cheat but they hate to be cheated on
.” Tia informed with her arrow like looking lips.

“Well I still love my husband, so I wouldn’t hurt him like that,” Jilean replied while sobbing.

“And he loves you too…” These were the words of sarcasm that spilled from the pointed lips of Tia.

Behave Tia!” Jeanette snapped.   “Listen Jilean, from what you have said it suggests that you may not have been spending much time with your husband and this may have him so defenseless to the charm of a worthy predator; he is good looking, kind, talented, successful and affluent, hence commendable to be preyed on.  Listen Jilean, if it really happened it may be hurtful, but he is your husband and you have to learn to deal with it and move on, think about the role you may have played in this.   You have devoted more than enough time to your company which is now doing well, but what about your garden at home – is it well watered?    If it is, then you should start bearing fruits.    Boss, I am giving you time off to go home, add some
flavor
to your garden.

You have competent people around you to run your company for the next few days.”  Jeanette advised while still remaining quite composed.

“You know, I think I may have found the perfect model for our new clothing line,” Jilean countered while wiping her eyes; she really looked comforted.  “She has the right height, the right skin tone, the right rear and the perfect pair pair of legs – she will be the selling temptation of my new clothes line.”

“And who is that boss?” Tia queried.

“Chrissel Parks!” Jilean snapped.

Jilean left the cafeteria with everybody else behind totally muted.

Chapter Sixteen

“Good day, I would love the opportunity to speak to Miss Chrissel Parkes.”   Jilean requested as she responded to the salutation of the corporate secretary at the real estate agency.

“Is she expecting you Madame?”

“Well, actually no, but I am Mrs Jilean Snowy and she is our agent.”

“Ok Mrs Snowy, kindly have a seat while I make contact with Miss Parks,” the secretary replied while picking up the handset.

While sitting in the enclosed waiting area Jilean noticed an 8x10 sized Portrait of Chrissel that was mounted on the wall under the heading ‘
Top Performer –Quarter One
2013’.

If she is the woman who scratched my husband then I am going to end her career,”
Jilean thought to herself as she stared at the picture on the wall which appeared to be smiling at her or
laughing at her
.    “
How could Thames do this to me?   You are going to pay dearly for this Thames.”
Jilean thought to herself as she kept staring at the photo of Chrissel hoping that it wouldn’t smile at her.

I wonder why the heck won’t Thames answer his phone,”
Chrissel said to herself upon hearing that Jilean was waiting to see her.  “
Am I in trouble, does she know that I made her husband happy? What does she want?”
Chrissel pondered as she tried to muster the courage to meet with Mrs Jilean Snowy.

“Good day Mrs. Snowy great to see you again, where is Mr Snowy?” Chrissel greeted while stretching her arm out for a handshake.

I wonder why the heck you are asking for my husband?”
Jilean questioned herself as she accepted the salutation from Miss Chrisel Parkes by engaging her in the handshake.    While the right arms of both women connected Jilean could feel that something was definitely wrong despite the warm smile that she received from Chrissel.

“So Mrs. Snowy I see you have made your decision about the property on Elk Street.”

Well actually no, I am here on a little personal business - by the way you can call me Jilean,” she replied as she noticed how uneasy the other woman looked.

“Ok let’s go into my office Mrs. Snowy.”  Chrissel responded as she led the way.  “You may have a seat.”

“Well, Miss Chrissel Parkes as you know, I run a clothing line company; well I am having an important showing this weekend.   The thing is – my biggest prospective client is flying from Paris and I need to have the right model to flaunt my wares so we could hammer a multi-million deal. ”

“But how does that affect..?”

“You see we need someone who is smart, looks appealing, has the right tone and someone with the perfect legs to mesmerize.” Jilean quipped.

“And who exactly do you have in mind Mrs. Snowy?”

“YOU!”

“OMG!  I am quite flattered Mrs Snowy but I don’t mix business with pleasure,”  Chrissel responded as she moved her brown eyes across the room.  “
Is this some form of trap or what? My lover’s wife wants me to work for her – what could she be possibly up to?”
