He tugged her arm. “Come on. Two hours max. Let’s do it.”
“I feel guilty.”
“I think you need to convert to my religion. There’s a hell of a lot less guilt.”
“What
is
your religion?”
“Agnostic with a strong dose of atheist.”
“And yet, all joking aside, you’d seriously consider converting for me?” She smiled. She was so damn pretty.
He spun her around to face him. “Sweetheart, I’d walk into the depths of hell for you.
You’re
what I believe in. You. Me. Us.”
She looked like she was finally starting to believe him. Finally starting to get it. She touched his face, almost as if she was finally seeing him clearly. “I’m glad you walked into that bar all those years ago, Marine.”

This was a difficult book to write. Any book that deals with rape or sexual assault often is, but this one seemed to come at a time when the issue is front and center in people’s minds (as it should be). Unfortunately, rape occurs with horrific frequency all over the world. I tried to treat the subject matter with the respect it deserved while still writing the kind of Romantic Suspense novel that my readers expect. I hope I succeeded.
