Chapter Thirteen

When Davis wasn’t out on the driveway with the other guys, Ryan worried that maybe he’d run out, leaving the ranch for somewhere with less stress. Worry filled him until he stepped into his bedroom, finding Davis on the bed, his clothes on the floor in a heap. Ryan shut the door and locked it.

He stared at his man, lust pumping hot through him. “Fuck, that’s the best thing I’ve seen all day.”

Ryan tugged off his clothes, tossing them to the chair beside the bed. He put one hand on the mattress by Davis’s leg then the other landed beside his hip. Davis shivered and his cock jerked. Need pumped through Ryan. He grabbed Davis’s legs, flipping him quickly so he was face down. The yelp that followed only increased his lust.

Before stretching out on top of his lover, he grabbed the lube and condom from the bedside table, placing them on the sheets beside him. Heat washed over him as he ground against Davis’s lush, full asscheeks. Ryan kissed a line over Davis’s neck to his shoulders.

“I’m so fucking hot for you. God, I can’t believe this is how you greeted me. I must be the luckiest man in the world,” Ryan whispered.

“I missed you so much,” Davis moaned.

Ryan grabbed the lube and spread some on his finger before circling Davis’s opening, pressing in. Davis’s hole was hot and ready for him. Davis pushed his ass up, and Ryan’s finger slid in deeper.

“How much time do we have?” Ryan asked.

“Maybe forty more minutes.”

“Crap. I want more than a quick fuck.”

He grabbed the condom and rolled it on before slicking up with lube. Davis went up on his knees, spreading his legs, displaying his perfect ass. Ryan groaned and ran one hand over Davis’s muscled butt cheek before he pressed forward and slid into Davis’s hot hole. He gasped and pushed in deeper, holding onto Davis’s hips, grinding against his butt cheeks. Fucking Davis always felt so good. The heat was amazing, and the feel of Davis’s butt pressed against his hips did him in. He rocked his hips slowly, sliding out a little with each sway of his body.

Davis gasped and growled as he pushed back harder, meeting Ryan’s thrusts. His man turned a little and looked over his shoulder. Ryan lowered and gave Davis a sloppy kiss as they continued to rock together.

Their lips parted but Ryan held Davis close; their breaths mingled. “I love you so much. Don’t ever leave me,” he begged.

“I could never walk away from you.”

His desire built higher, the need to come twisted through him. Ryan rose up and pushed Davis down, their bodies slapping together. He fucked Davis hard, thrusting deep. The grunts from his lover drove him crazy as he edged closer to his completion. His orgasm hit and he dropped low, pressing hard into Davis. When he could breathe, he reached around and found that Davis had already come too.

“That was intense,” Ryan said.

“Yeah, at the end you were wild. I liked it.”

“Good, because I freaking loved it.”

“We need to take a quick shower and get dressed. Grant and Marshal are going to expect us out there soon.”

Ryan grabbed Davis’s arm and tugged him close. “Before we go, I want to make sure you know how I feel about you.”

Davis nodded. “I think I do.”

“I love you. This isn’t just some game or a lark. I really do love you.”

Davis cupped his cheeks and leaned in. Their lips brushing together in a sweet kiss that made his throat start to close up with emotions. “You won’t leave me, will you?”

“Never,” Ryan whispered as his heart squeezed.

“How can this be? I always thought real love took longer than the months we’ve known each other.” Davis’s voice shook as he spoke.

“I’ve got no clue how I can feel this deeply about you this soon, but I do. I know we said that we loved each other before I left, but being away this time showed me how deeply I feel about you.”

Davis kissed him again then leaned back. “We really do have to shower.”

“Come on, let’s take care of that.” Ryan followed Davis into the bathroom, watching as Davis turned on the water. He had it all with this man. The mission had been exciting but being with Davis was even more thrilling.

*~*~*

Marshal felt on top of the world. Zander had welcomed him home with a scorching kiss that led to much more gratification in the shower. He was clean and satisfied, and he couldn’t ask for much more heading into the meeting.

Grant, Tucker, and Mike were going to debrief them on the mission. Then they would go over what they’d found and what their next move would be. Zander held his hand as they made their way to the control room and stopped him outside the door before entering.

“Hey, big guy, you feeling good after that mission?” Zander looked a little worried but his smile took away any sting of the question.

He nodded, thinking about how he felt. “I’m good. It wasn’t too difficult.”

“Speak for yourself,” Ryan said as he came up behind them.

Concern passed over Zander’s face and he frowned. Marshal grasped Zander’s chin, holding his gaze.

“Really, love, everything was fine. Ryan ran into a glitch, which we’ll discuss during the meeting, but we’re all good. No guns drawn, no major problems.”

Zander’s eyes narrowed before he nodded. “If you say so.”

Marshal brushed a quick peck over Zander’s cheek and turned to enter the room. They all settled in various seats, Marshal and Ryan on one side of the table, Grant, Tucker, and Mike on the other. The rest of the guys sat at the tables with their computers open.

Grant took a sip of something hot then turned to both Marshal and Ryan. It was weird not having Duff do the debriefing, but he knew Grant could handle this part of the process. Grant had always had a sharp eye. He only hoped he could be half as strong as Grant.

“Start from the beginning and tell me everything. No detail is too small.” Grant clicked on a recording device and sat back, taking another sip of his beverage.

Marshal told them about the mission from his perspective. When he got to the part about overhearing Ryan start to stumble, Grant looked at Ryan.

Ryan grimaced. “I froze. I should have been able to come up with something good to say, but I didn’t know what to do.” Ryan’s lips turned down in a frown and his brows pinched together.

“We’ll come back to that later, Ryan. Marshal, continue.” Grant sat forward, his fingers laced together on the tabletop. His friend looked intense, and Marshal hoped he could be as good at leading as Grant was.

“Ryan was fine. He may have felt outmatched, but I’m sure if I wouldn’t have shown up, he would have figured out something to say. It wasn’t as bad as he’s making it out. Anyway, I made up something about coffee spilling, and we left. We changed out of our disguises in a bathroom off the Tube—clothes, our look, everything was changed. We did it again once we were closer to the airport. Yes, we’re on camera, but it would take a lot to track us, and I doubt they will take the time to keep searching once they lose our trail, if they even try to look for it. We took photos of a file. We didn’t steal anything and we didn’t hurt anyone.”

Grant turned to Ryan and nodded. “Okay, Ryan, tell us your take on everything from the start to the end when you got home.”

Marshal sat back and listened to Ryan talk about the events. He was a bit surprised when Ryan said he’d talked to Davis, but he guessed he shouldn’t be shocked since he’d called Zander at one point, too.

“When the woman approached me, it threw me off. Marshal says I could have handled it, maybe I could have, but I floundered.”

Grant cleared his throat and his brows lifted, making him look sympathetic. “That’s why we usually go in as a team. We can help each other. With the missions I’ve been on, I think the worst times are when we have to talk directly to someone. The easy ones happen when we can go in undetected.”

Mike leaned forward and pinned Ryan with a stare. “I don’t think you should freak out over what happened. Things get hinky on missions when we’re forced to interact with people. We’ll start going over how to deal with different circumstances and work on building lies and ways to manipulate the situation to your favor. Really, it sounds like you did okay. I would consider your mission a success. Tucker and I will go through police reports and make sure they’re not looking for you, but I’d say you’re in the clear.”

Ryan grimaced and nodded, wishing he’d performed with more skill. “Okay, I feel a little better. Still, I wish I could have handled it differently.”

“We’ve spent the summer working on the physical, now it’s time we work on our other skills.” Grant stood and moved closer to the white board at the side of the room before turning to face them all. “The toughest thing we do is getting up close and personal with a target. I know the lack of work over last summer has been difficult to deal with. Include Duff’s health crisis, along with adding two new people joining our crew, and our stress has increased a bit. Craig is gone, and maybe that made us feel lazy, but we can’t get dull. We’ll work up some exercises to sharpen our skills. Guys, I’m proud of what we’ve accomplished here at Wild Bluff, and now isn’t the time to relax. When we do get a request that is valid and something we need to pursue, we’ll be ready.”

Marshal’s heart expanded and he knew now more than ever that he wanted to be connected with Wild Bluff. He stood and moved to stand next to Grant. “I know I have some physical challenges, and I’ll never have a steady enough arm to shoot, but I can help with training. We’ve been fairly relaxed the last few months, but we’re going to step it up. Ryan, you did well in London. It was a tough situation. Next time you go out into the field, I want you to feel even more prepared.” Marshal clapped his hands together, excitement bubbling up inside. “Now then, I think you found some information from the papers we sent you?”

Grant placed a hand on his shoulder and squeezed. “Yes, it’s good stuff too. Davis was the first to make the connection. Why don’t you come up here and tell everyone what you saw, Davis? You can catch Marshal and Ryan up to speed. Then we’ll go through the process again and see what else we can come up with.”

Two hours after Davis started talking, they wrapped up their explanation of everything they’d found. The evidence was overwhelming. They would continue to look through the information, but so far, the only clear-cut connection was the person they were calling Daphne Wall. Everyone else was either dead, in prison, or inconsequential because it was obvious they hadn’t known what they were participating in. Like the guy who'd rented Craig or Daphne a van, or the person who'd sold him a bucket at a hardware store, they were just random people who didn’t have any idea that there was a darker side to their business transaction.

Grant moved to the front of the room. “Our primary focus is to locate Daphne Wall.”

“We’ll put everything into finding her,” Tucker said.

Grant turned to Marshal and lifted a brow. He stood, moving to Grant’s side before he spoke. “We’ll jump on this and figure it out. We’ll double check everything. I think it would be wise to have Zander and myself go back through the photos one more time. Tucker, Mike, and Billy, you three are in charge of looking for any official documentation for this Daphne person. Yes, I know she is using fake identification, but we need to know who she really is. Roger, you, Davis, and Ryan will track her whereabouts after the Boston incident. One way or another, we’ll find her. All questions go to Grant on this matter.”

The guys broke up and began assigning tasks. He turned to find Zander with his hands on his hips. Zander rolled his eyes and shook his head.

“What?” Marshal asked.

“I’ve been through this paperwork already.” His lips turned down in a frown. “You owe me.”

“I’ll pay you back, don’t worry.” Marshal laughed as he moved closer to Zander. He lowered his voice and leaned in close. “I really will pay you back.”

Zander shivered and glanced over his shoulder, heat filling his gaze. Marshal ran his hand down Zander’s arm and squeezed his wrist before moving to a computer where they could work.

It was his first time through the information, and he was taking a long time looking at each photo, choosing which ones to discard and which to go over again. The sun had set and he was only halfway through the information while Zander had already finished and moved on to another task.

“You want to take a break?” Zander asked.

He shook his head and groaned when Zander began massaging his shoulders. “Thirty more minutes. I need to get through this.”

“It’s going to take you more than one day to get through that stack of photos.”

“I know, I’m just…” Marshal blew out a breath and rolled his neck. “I’m exhausted. I’m ready for bed. I’ll get up in the middle of the night and continue working. I’m done.”

Zander bent low, kissing his neck. “Find anything more?”

“No, it’s not likely that we’ll find anything else. Everyone has already gone over this material so many times. We’ll figure it out eventually. I think the leads we already have are good. This Daphne person might just be the last tie to Craig. We’ll get rid of her and it will be over.”

“I hope so. I don’t like having to deal with his messes.”
