Many years later, I found myself speaking opposite Professor Lickiss at a dinner at the Australian Academy of Forensic Sciences in Sydney. Her views hadn't changed. As well, during her contribution, she engaged in word play on ‘Nazi—Nitschke—Euthanasia', intimating that my role in voluntary euthanasia was somehow the same as the Nazis' role in the Holocaust. I was quietly pleased when the then Commonwealth Solicitor, General David Bennett, in a question from the audience, pulled her up for the inappropriateness of her innuendo.
