When his balls tightened, she’d learned that was a sign that he was going to lose it, so she cut him a break. Kat wanted him buried in her body as they christened their new love nest.

She never thought she’d have that.

As a broken child, this seemed like a pipe dream. Now it was coming true.

It was hers.

He was hers.

Pushing off his body, she stood. Kat stripped down, leaving Curtis lying there in his pants, erection out, and a look of lust on his face.

“Come on, Kat. I need you.”

She needed him too.

Dropping her pants, she practically ripped of her bra and panties. As soon as she was free, she was on him. With a lick, she slid up his body and braced herself over him.

“Take me.”

His heart kicked.

Well, if that’s what his woman wanted, she was going to get it.

Rolling, he found himself between her legs. This was his favorite place to be. Kat in bed was a rush.

Slowly, he slid into the wet warmth of her body.

Immediately, her legs were around his hips. When he tried to move slowly, being gentle, she stopped him.

“Did I hurt you?” he asked.

“No, but I want you to be wild. Forget my past. Give me our future.”

He got it.

She wanted to be normal.

He’d give her anything.

Curtis didn’t hold back. He buried himself in her body, over and over again until Kat was on the edge and ready to explode. When she stared up at him, his heart skipped.

Those gorgeous aqua eyes were amazing.

“Curtis,” she said, as he pounded into her body.

“Yeah?” he whispered, beads of perspiration peppering his brow.

She moaned.

He hit that right spot over and over again.

“I want to have a house full of kids with you. Let’s have lots. You’re going to be a great husband and father.”

The words hit him in just the right spot.

That struck a chord with him.

HUSBAND.

It turned him right on, and he took more. “I’m going to cum, Kat. Jesus, you make me crazy.”

She was on the edge. “Do it!”

He drove into her one last time, hitting that spot. She exploded a part, and he was right behind her.

The room spun, the colors swirled, and the only sound was their hearts.

He rested over her as his body poured into his woman.

This was love.

It was his.

“Curtis?”

“Mmmm?” he said, barely able to breathe. He loved their sex life. It was hot.

“I love when you fuck me.”

That was all she had to say. He was hard again. It looked like Kat was going to get what she wanted.

He pushed off her body and stared down. “Good because it appears that I’m not done. There’s never enough of you, Kat, and there will never be enough of the love we have.”

She rolled so she was on top.

“Let me take you this time.”

Curtis held on.

It was one hell of a ride.

Chapter Ten

Saturday Morning

Charlie TilLman

Interview

It had been a long night.

Greyson and Emma had slept at the hospital in uncomfortable chairs. When either would fall asleep, and someone walked in, they were jostled awake.

Waiting sucked.

By the time day broke, they knew they were going to have to head out to get started on the case. Miranda Bell was counting on them.

First stop was going to be Seth Bell’s first partner. Hopefully, they would get something to work with while they were there. In all honesty, the man didn’t have to talk to them. They weren’t cops anymore, and that meant they had zero pull.

The only thing going for them was they could pay out some greenbacks now, and they didn’t have to explain it.

Money talked.

They were ready to listen.

As they drove across town in the tinted out Navigator, Emma was quiet.

“What are you thinking about, Em?” Greyson asked.

“I’m thinking about Dante, Steele, Chris, Curtis, our lives, this case, and about thirty other things.”

Yeah, like her husband dropping the baby bomb. She hadn’t seen that one coming. She wasn’t surprised. With Kat being pregnant, and no longer having his career, it was bound to come up. She just wasn’t sure she was able to give him what he wanted.

Was this a phase?

Was he going to change his mind?

Would she?

Yeah, she was thinking about a hell of a lot of different things.

“Everything will work out, honey. Don’t lose sleep over it. What’s meant to be is meant to be.”

Greyson glanced over. When he saw the worry lines, he picked up her hand and kissed her knuckles.

“I love you.”

“I love you too, Greyson Croft. Don’t ever forget it.”

How could he?”

“About our conversation,” he said, bringing up what he asked about having a baby. “If this is making you nuts, it’s not a good time. We can wait. I don’t want you getting worried about it. Having a child shouldn’t be this stressful.”

He always could read her.

Why was she surprised?

“Thanks for that, but if it was the only thing I was worrying about, I’d be okay. I’m just feeling stressed. My big worry is if we don’t get this case handled in time. Normally, we’re not to the gun with a time deadline. This is a man’s life. I’d hate to figure it out an hour after they execute him.”

Yeah, he wouldn’t like that either.

It would suck all around.

The navigational system sounded and then she found a parking spot.

“Let’s see what happens.”

As they got out, of course there were media not far behind. Only, they stayed across the street.

Why?

Because the last time they got too close, they nearly knocked Emma over. Dimitri had caught her, but Greyson had warned them that the first person who touched his wife was going to be in a world of hurt.

Apparently, they believed his threat because they didn’t swarm when she was at his side.

It worked for him.

He wasn’t kidding about hurting anyone who touched Emma. He’d easily go to jail for roughing up some reporter.

At the front door, they knocked.

When the man opened, he looked confused.

“Well, you’re not a cop, but you are the mob. I think I’m screwed,” he said. “Uh, what did I do?”

Greyson lifted a brow. “What do you think you did?”

He shook his head. “No idea. You really shouldn’t be here,” Charlie Tillman stated, pointing at Emma. “You’re marked as off limits.”

Yeah, she wasn’t shocked.

Commissioner Raye was working hard to isolate her from the pack. He was like a cheetah on the plains. She had news for him. Emma was tough to pick off.

Ask Trudy Booker and Dominic Marianna.

Oh, wait.

They were dead.

There was her proof.

“We need to talk. It’s about you and your first partner, Seth Bell.”

He looked even more confused. “I don’t get it. He’s in jail for rape and murder. What could this possibly have to do with me?”

There was no way she could BS him on this, so she went with the truth. “We’ve been asked to help him prove his innocence.”

Charlie started laughing.

“No offense, but are you two really a good choice at proving someone’s guilt or innocence? You lost your job for killing Marianna, and now you took over his positon in the city,” he said, pointing at Greyson.

They didn’t speak.

“And you, Mrs. Croft. You turned in your badge and went dark side on everyone. The commissioner and every cop in the city is now gunning for you.”

She didn’t care.

“Hiding something, Charlie? I think it’s interesting that you’re changing the subject when it’s a simple discussion. Innocent people don’t have anything to hide.”

Oh, she could play this game. It wasn’t her first day on the streets. If Charlie thought he was the toughest man she’d ever encountered in a questioning, then he was about to be shocked.

Greyson grinned ferally. “I hope word doesn’t get out that you are hiding things or that you and I are buddies.”

He looked appalled.

That was suicide and he knew it.

“Come in, make it fast, and forget you ever came here. I know I will as soon as you leave.”

They followed him in. It was a typical cop flop. There was a gun on the table, and that made Greyson incredibly nervous. He wasn’t carrying, simply because the local law would love to pull him over and find a weapon.

He’d be in jail in a heartbeat.

Until their permits to carry came through, Dimitri was the only one who was packing a weapon.

“Have a seat,” he stated, dropping down into a recliner. “Now, what’s this all about?”

“We’re looking at his life, trying to figure out if he committed the murders.”

The man laughed. “I don’t personally think he did it, but that’s just me.”

“Why do you think he didn’t do it?” Emma asked.

“He was as gay as the day was long. The man liked dick, and he was out to find a man. Trust me. We did an undercover sting with a half-dressed hooker, and he didn’t even bat an eyelash. This woman’s tits were enormous. Seth noticed her shoes. That should say it all.”

He looked over at Greyson. “I hear you know what gay men are like. Does it run in the family?”

“Unlike stupidity, no, but I bet your family tree is full of dumbasses,” he said. “People who make shitty comments toward me disappear. Haven’t you listened to the rumors?”

The man shut up.

Fast
.

“Did anyone interview you about Seth? Did you mention this to them?”

“Hell yeah! I told the detectives running it. They brushed it off pretty fast. I think they were more interested in building a case against him than proving him innocent.”

“Who was running it?” Emma asked.

He thought about it. “A Detective Sawyer Laden and Mace Bristol.”

Then he paused.

“Wait! Isn’t that the cop you offed?” he asked, glancing down at the gun as he gauged if he could get to it before the man.

“Don’t be stupid. You won’t reach it before me, and if I even see you move toward it, I will get it first.”

He tried to relax.

It wasn’t easy.

“Why are you here? Really?”

Emma continued on.

“You had a mark in your record. Care to share?”

He stared at them.

“How did you get that information?” he asked. “Our personnel files are sealed.”

“Let’s just say that there are about ten cops on the payroll that answer to my husband. They tell us everything.”

Yeah, that was news to Greyson.

Had Emma been shopping for spies last time she bought shoes?

Then he saw the glint in her eye.

Yeah, his sexy wife was conning the cop. That turned him right on. When she was felonious, he wanted to join her and do bad things.

“Shit!”

“Yeah, so, your name came up. Why?” Emma asked. She knew they needed to move fast. At any moment, he could shut down.

It would happen when he realized the media had followed her to his place, and now every cop in the city would think he was now on the take too.

Dumbass.

“He put his hand on my leg and I punched him in the face. I really thought he was coming onto me. He was a great partner, when he wasn’t checking out my dick through my pants, but I needed out.”

“So you punched him?”

“It was a huge misunderstanding. He tapped my leg, before he was going to point out a perp, and I took it as sexual. My bad. He made it hard not to think about what he was fantasizing about.”

“You have issues.”

Emma agreed. Greyson hugged Steele and Dante all the time. They’d touched his leg a few times, and no one was ever punched. The man in front of them was the one with the issues.

Not Seth.

Homophobes were assholes. If they had a problem with gay men, they needed to see that they were the actual issue. Love was love, and that’s all that mattered.

He shrugged. “I like pussy. Had my partner been a woman, I would have taken her up on it.”

Emma rolled her eyes.

“When was the last time you saw Seth?”

“I’d say the day we parted ways. I was partnered up with someone else, and he was too. We walked out of Commissioner Booker’s office, and that was it. Like I said—he was a great cop. I was simply uncomfortable around him. I really believe he wanted in my pants.”

“That would be hard to resist,” Emma said.

“Hey! Really?” he asked, grinning.

“No. You make me want to toss my cookies. You’re a homophobe, and that’s about as low as you can go in my book.”

He scowled.

Greyson knew his wife was pissed. She was super protective of the people in her life, and because of Dante and Steele, she’d cut this man and laugh while he was bleeding.

“Ever hear of an Officer Jesse Post?” Greyson asked, trying not to laugh.

“No, who is he?”

“He was cop who ended up with Seth as his partner in the streets.”

He laughed.

“How long did he last?” he asked.

“The entire time he was a cop—five and a half years. I guess you were just a dick magnet. Have trouble with the ladies, do you?” Emma asked.

“You’re pretty mouthy for a disgraced cop.”

Emma laughed. “I’m pretty mouthy because my husband can kick your ass without breaking a sweat, and that I find hard to resist.”

The man looked like he was ready to blow a gasket. It was time to call it an interview.

Any second, and he was going to stroke out.

Greyson knew it was time to get the hell out of there. Emma was getting increasingly angry with each word the man uttered.

“Thank you for your time, Officer Tillman. Have a great weekend.”

Outside, he kissed his wife.

“Mrs. Croft, you make me smile. I really love you when you’re all stirred up. You can play cop for me any day.”

She patted his cheek. “You’ll be happy to know that I happen to have a costume for that.”

He lifted an eyebrow. “Does it have handcuffs and a teeny tiny skirt?”

“Yeah, and boots that go all the way up to here,” she said, touching her thigh.

“Later, you can arrest me but I’m going to escape and take you captive. I’ll tie you up and…”

She stopped him. “You’ve thought about this way too much. That’s not healthy. One would start to think that you either have too much time on your hands, or you spend way too much time thinking about sex.”

He laughed.

Maybe he did think too much about sex at his age, but he had a sexier younger wife.

Sue him.

That’s how he liked it.

“Oh, Em, that’s more than healthy. It’s caveman.”

She waited as he opened the door for her. When he helped her up, he was still smiling.

“Next interview?” she asked.

“Yeah, Officer Whips and Chains.”

“Greyson!”

He laughed all the way around the vehicle.

Her face said outrage but he knew better. Emma would play any game he liked.

And he was a damn happy man because of it.
