As we get closer to the house I can see that’s not gonna happen. Tapping Dams’ shoulder, I yell, “Ride up to the house.” He does as I ask and when the front of the house comes into view, I blink a few times and swallow hard.

Deeds is kicking the shit out of Chopper. Dams brings the bike to a stop and I hop off. Shoving the helmet into his hands, I say, “Get the fuck out of here,
fast
!”

I turn and run to Deeds, who’s still punching Chopper while Broke and Goffa try to pry them apart. The instant my voice leaves my throat, Deeds’ fist stops mid punch and his head whips in my direction. Chopper takes advantage and hits him in the face. I watch as Deeds spins and kicks his knee up, connecting right into Chopper’s face. He goes down and stays there.

Deeds storms over to me and wraps his hand around my throat, gripping so hard a vibration of fear jolts through my body. “Where the fuck did you go? Why the hell were you on the back of Dams’ bike? Don’t you fucking know you scared the fuck out of me? Coming home to an empty house? Answer me, goddammit!”

Both of my hands cup his face, my thumbs brushing his cheeks. His eyes close and I see some of the tension leach out of his body. Shit, I just didn’t think this through. The words flow as a whisper from my lips.

“I’m so sorry. So, so sorry. I didn’t think. I just. I needed. I’m sorry.” Swallowing hard, I never fucking apologize. Even if I’m wrong I don’t fucking say so. Right now though, right now my heart is hurting just as much as his.

“I should have come to you.” Fuck, it’s another trust thing. I can see it in his eyes. But it isn’t like that, it’s just…. Fuck! He needs to know.

“I’m stupid, okay? I’m used to doing everything by myself not fucking caring about what another person thinks or feels. My brothers have always had my back and I can handle my shit. This, what we have? I have never,
ever
had this. I need to work on it and I fucking will. I can’t lose you, Deeds. Please don’t think less of me. Don’t ever think I don’t trust you, I do. It’s just… I…”

His lips slam down on mine as I feel his grip tighten around my throat. The slight jolt of fear switching to a fully blown shot of lust as he takes my bottom lip between his teeth, biting down before letting go.

“You do realize you’ve mentioned ‘
I’
ten times in your rambling, Hotlips. That right there is our problem. It’s
we
,
us
. You and me, we’re no longer one person. Remember that. You can’t just rip out my heart and take it with you without me knowing where the fuck you’re going. You got me?”

I nod my eyes never leaving his. “I got you. Just like you’ve got me.”

A smile slowly appears on his face. Thank fuck, his hand slides off my neck and wraps around my wrist. Dragging me behind him, he walks to the house, mumbling the entire way.

“Still gonna kick the shit out of Dams, that’s for fucking sure.”

Well, shit! My gaze goes to Chopper, where Broke and Goffa are trying to pull him up to drag him inside. Holy shit! I need to talk Deeds out of it. He cannot kick the shit out of Dams, he could start a fucking war between the MCs.

I kinda agree Chopper needed his ass kicked. Remember, I said ass, not face... and kinda, meaning one kick, or two not beat the shit out of him. Fuck! But still, that guy needs to focus on his job and not play fucking games. Totally pun intended.

When we get inside he points to the couch. “Sit.” Yeah, I don’t think so.

“I’d rather stand, if you don’t mind.” The fucker growls at me. Yeah, that shit ain’t scaring me. Wrap your hand around my throat and get that scary look back into your eyes and try again. But now? Nope, not working.

“We need to talk.
Talk
, talk.” Whoops. I fucking know I said the word three fucking times. His eyebrow rises as I clarify myself. “Talk about the club thing, talk about the little boys thing and talk about Dams. So listen up.”

He crosses his arms in front of his chest defensively. Yeah, I know every trick in the book, honey. Still not working.

“The club thing, about you guys being above the law, solve cases the authorities can’t… That talk can wait, I trust you on this and right now I know enough, or assume enough to say that this shit doesn’t bother me anymore.”

Deeds gives a nod, pulls his hand up as an indication to continue while he tucks his hand back underneath his other arm.

“The little boys take a little more explaining so I’m hopping straight to Dams.”

“There will be no fucking hopping to Dams!” He growls out the words while he takes a step forward.

Jesus, buddy. Get it together. “Get that knot out of your dick, I didn’t mean it like that. Jeeeezzzz. What I meant to say was, he owed me a favor. I was just cashing in. I needed a ride and a safe backup. You know he’s good for it.”

“And you fucking know an ol’lady is
never
allowed on the back of another bike.”

Rolling my eyes, knowing I can’t win this one. Like fuck will I apologize again. Fuck, I said I’m sorry in the last few minutes enough to last me a life time.

“Okay, that won’t happen again.”

He takes another step closer and I know he’s hanging on by a tread. “Why the fuck did he owe you?”

Uhmmm, yeah. No. Not gonna answer that question truthfully since that also involves me getting on the back of Dams’ bike without a word. So instead I go with, “He needed me to shut up and listen. I gave him that since he told me he would owe me a favor if I did so.”

Thank fuck, Deeds nods in understanding. What the fuck? Oh, yeah. Right. Having the nickname Lips, kinda hard not to understand.

And now to discuss the little boys. Planting my ass on the couch, I feel it dip as Deeds sits next to me.

“Okay, so today, at the diner with Mila’s sister… you’ve met Roan, right? Anyway, we were there for her birthday. Did you know she works there three nights a week?” He shakes his head no, so I continue.

“Well, the other waitress asked her to take table five. When she agreed and I saw what happened, we knew why. She’s got this amazing voice and gave the birthday girl her dessert while singing happy birthday. Anyway, that moment I remembered the little boys all just turned seven or had been seven for a few weeks when they were taken. It’s weird. Also I was watching those interviews before and this mom went on about her kid’s birthday party the day before and how he was all happy and now missing. That’s the connection. I just knew it, but I had to be sure. That’s why I asked you if I could ask the parents a question. I needed to know the name of the diner and if it was the same one the others might have used too. Turns out every single last one of those parents took their kid to this diner to have his birthday party. So I checked with Nerd.”

Anger flashes through Deeds’ eyes as I quickly explain myself. “Yeah, yeah. I know, but if I asked Chopper about it, he would have been on the fucking phone with you first thing and I needed to know for sure first. You’re working this case too, but I can’t bother you with every tiny thing that pops up in my head. And I’m rambling. Shit, back to my point. Like I said, Nerd works fast. I asked her if she could run a check to see if one of the brothers might work there or had some other connection. Turns out, I was right so I wanted to check it out and knowing I couldn’t go alone, well, that’s where Dams and the favor he owed me came in.”

When I finally shut up he just looks at me. Taking a deep breath, I catch my tongue piercing between my teeth and wiggle it around.

Shit, I’m fucking nervous with the look he’s giving me. “Don’t just sit there and looking at me like that. Say something!”

The fucker starts to laugh and shakes his head. “You’re something, you know that, Hotlips?”

“Yeah, yeah, so you keep saying.”

Deeds gets up and grabs his phone. He turns to Goffa, who apparently has been standing behind the couch the whole fucking time. I just now notice that Chopper is sitting in a chair near the corner, holding a bag of frozen peas to his face, and Broke is just standing next to Goffa, staring at me like a crazy person.

“What?” I snap at them.

His lips part and he lets out a breath before he says, “Like my brother said, you truly are something. We’ve looked into the age thing and came up empty. We couldn’t tie the brothers to any of those cases. You just found a direct link, all on your own.”

As I shrug my shoulders, I’m starting to feel uncomfortable. “It’s nothing.”

“The fuck it’s nothing!”Goffa says. “You just might have cracked the case wide open.”

The uncomfortable feeling grows like a fucking weed inside me. “All right, cut that shit out. You guys have work to do and I need to relax so I’m gonna watch a documentary while Chopper keeps me company. Right, Chopper?” Some kind of noise leaves his mouth, and I assume it means he agrees.

“Broke, could you fix me one of those cappuccino’s before you go?” Yeah, great moment to think of something like that, but seriously, the way he makes it… that’s like a little piece of heaven in a cup. And I need that shit right now.

“Sure thing, Lips.” Thank fuck, he’s walking into the kitchen as I feel strong hands wrapping around my waist.

Deeds’ lips go to my neck as he rocks me softly from left to right. “This is the very reason I wanted you on this case. You have the amazing talent of looking at things from a different angle. We needed this.”

I can’t help the fucking moan that slips out of my mouth, along with the whispered words. “Like I need you, right now.”

He presses his dick against my ass to let me know we’re on the same page. We both look up at Goffa’s growl. “Enough time for fucking after we bring them in, yeah?”

Holy shit. Yikes, he’s right. That’s just. Oh. A slight shiver runs over my body making Deeds chuckle as he whispers in my ear. “Later, love.”

I step away at the same time Broke comes back from the kitchen and hands me my cappuccino.

“I’m gonna leave a prospect out front, just to be safe since Chopper isn’t up to keeping watch. ”

Deeds drops a soft kiss on my mouth before leaving, taking Goffa and Broke with him. Assuming they’re gonna get a warrant and bring those fuckers in, my only hope is that they find those little boys. The last time they searched the house, they came up empty. It’s out of my hands and I need to leave this to the brothers. With that in mind, I shoot a quick text to Blue.

It’s time.

Chapter 16

Opening the door to see my best friend standing there, I smile. Yeah I just saw her a few hours ago, but still. Zack’s behind her and I’m not even surprised. After what happened today, I’m betting he’s not letting her out of his sight any time in the near future.

Holding her kit up, she asks, “You ready for this?”

Uh, yeah. That would be no, but I need this so I shove my reservations aside. “Fuck, yeah. Let’s do this.” I don’t need tequila this time. I know it feels like razorblades slicing through my skin, and it’s something I just need to push through. It’s a reminder for me, knowing the pain won’t last. It’s a process.

Zack goes to sit on the couch when he notices Chopper. “What the fuck happened to you?”

Blue looks at Chopper and sucks in a breath. Yeah, he looks like he’s been run over by a truck. Chopper just answers with two words: “Wakeup call.”

Hmm, interesting. Either Zack doesn’t care or that’s all the info he needs because he nods, grabs the remote, and turns on the television.

“Okay, you wanna do this in the bedroom?” Blue asks while Chopper’s eyes go wide. At least I think they go wide, but I can’t really tell with his eyes all slammed shut and  swelling and shit.

“Don’t freak out, knucklehead. I’m not gonna slip out the window this time, okay? Besides, my brother here would kick my ass if I did.” Chopper relaxes slightly as Blue and I walk into the bedroom.

“Okay, where do you want it?” She pulls out a piece of paper and gives it to me.

“You made it already?”

Blue nods. “Yeah, I knew I had to ink it on you at some point so I wanted to be ready.”

Yeah, she’s funny that way. I also knew I would eventually get it. Right now, at this moment in time… it just feels right. Also I know the perfect spot. I point to my neck when I say, “Right here.”

Blue’s eyes go wide. “Are you fucking sure about that shit? Holy cow, Lips. Seriously? Jesus, on the fucking neck?”

“Yeah, it’s Deeds’ favorite spot and I want everyone to fucking see who I belong to at a glance. I’ve never been so sure about anything. That’s where it needs to be.”

She doesn’t question me again as she starts prepping her kit. “All black?”

I shake my head. “Nope, bright red.” Smiling, she knows not to doubt my word. It’s the same color as their patch and the same color of the ink of my name on Deeds’ chest.

Sometime later, she’s still working my neck. How long does she fucking need? I don’t know what’s worse, lying down in that position for this long, without moving, or the pain from getting inked on my fucking neck. Yeah, right now I’m having second thoughts about that spot since it’s very thin and fuck! I should have put the fucking thing on my ass where there’s plenty of fat and doesn’t hurt so much…

“There, all done.” Blue says as she prays cool liquid on my fresh ink and wipes it, repeating the action a few times.

“Thank fuck! I was about to plan your murder, bitch. Fuck me, that hurt.”

“Bitch all you like, that’s a piece of art right there. Go and see for yourself.” Getting to my feet, I walk to the mirror and my gaze shoots straight to my neck. She’s right.  It’s a work of art and it is fucking beautiful. Because it’s so fresh and on a spot where the skin is thin, blood is oozing through the ink. The effect makes it much more intense with the red ink. “It’s fucking beautiful.”

Blue comes up behind me, placing her chin on my shoulder. “Fuck, yeah.” she says. “Give me your phone so I can snap a picture for you.”

Reaching inside my pocket I give her my phone. “Hey, could you like zoom in so you can’t tell it’s on my neck?”

She nods and then she takes a few pictures. A sense of pride fills me as I scroll through the photos on my phone. I wanted to wait to show Deeds where I got the patch, but I need to let him know I have it. When I look at these pictures, it reminds me of the first shot I sent him when we hadn’t met face-to-face or knew who the fuck each other was. I have this slight feeling of unease since they’re going after Lepack and his brothers. The few times I ran into Lepack I’ve been sliced open and shot at. So with that in my mind, I don’t think it’s weird I want him to know I’ve inked the patch. That it’s done. We’re fully connected. Typing my message, I hit send.

Me: It’s red, feels great, and I should have gotten it sooner.

There. I’m hoping he thinks it’s some kind of lingerie, throwing him off at first. I don’t have a chance to put my phone away before his reply comes through.

Deeds: Can I take it off with my teeth when I get home?

Chuckling, I type back.

Me: Well, I hope not, ‘cause that would fucking hurt.

Selecting the picture that has a fragment of the patch and the words
Property Of
, I hit send. It takes maybe a second for my phone to start ringing. I give a little scream and hear Blue giggle. Picking up, I keep my voice sweet and innocent. “Hello?”

“Now is the fucking time to get it? Couldn’t you wait till I was right there with you? Fuck! Where did you put it, love? What place on that body of mine holds my mark? Tell me.
Now
.”

Oh, fuck! That voice. He’s barely hanging on. I’m betting if he was in church right now, he’d be at our house in less than forty-five seconds.

“I’m not telling. You’ll see when you get your ass home safe.”

He growls into the phone, making me giggle. “Will I see it when I fuck you from behind?”

I take a moment to think before I answer. “Yes.”

Groaning, he asks. “How about when I have your legs thrown over my shoulders, pounding into you as deep as I can. Will I see it then?”

Hearing all kind of complaints and commotion through the phone, I’m sure he’s not alone in a room and he’s talking loud, like he doesn’t give a fuck. “I’m pretty sure you can see it any way you chose to fuck me.” Hearing him groan I decide to end this conversation before it leads into phone sex or him leaving the job and coming home. “Be safe and get back here as fast as you can, okay?”

“Will do. We just got the papers to bust their asses and search the place. Enjoy the peace and quiet while it lasts, cause I sure as fuck will be there to ravish you for hours the second I’m done here.”

The only response I can manage is a soft, “Okay.” I hear him chuckle as he hangs up.

“I gather he liked it?” Blue says, coming up behind me. She cleans my ink again and wraps it up.

“Oh, yeah, that’s the understatement of the year.” She laughs and she packs up her stuff.

When I walk back into the living room, Zack turns and stands up. His eyes go to my neck and they widen. “Fuck, Lips! Seriously, that’s where you decide to put it?”

Ignoring his words, I grab Blue in a hug and whisper my thanks.

“Yeah, yeah. Enough already.” She says. “Hey, we’ve gotta go. Zack and I have a date tonight and he better live up to my expectations.” She looks back at him and I chuckle. Well, good luck with that. Knowing my brother, he’s gonna try like hell and still manage to fail.

So I whisper back, “Go easy on him. Men are idiots when it comes to date night.”

She rolls her eyes. “That’s the whole point. When you look up date night, it says payback for being an asshole.” We both laugh as we say our goodbyes.

Searching my bag, I go over the few new documentaries I’ve purchased and haven’t seen yet. One is about the rainforest, another about World War II, and the third is about drug dealers. Knowing I probably have enough time to watch at least two before Deeds gets home, I settle for the one about drug dealers. It’s been a while since I’ve watched a drug-related documentary. I’m standing a few steps away from Chopper when I put the disk in. I glance at him and see he’s not holding the peas to his face anymore. I mean, his head is tilted back with the bag of peas covering his face, but his hands are now resting on his lap. His arms must have gotten tired.

I kinda need to know that he’s still alive. Because I mean, hello! Watching a documentary with a dead body sitting in a corner would be a little creepy.

“Hey! You alive in there?” I hear a groan come from under the peas, confirming he’s not a corpse yet. “Okay. Good. You need anything?” I hear another low groan. “I’m gonna take that as a no. If you need anything, just grunt or wave your hand or something, okay?”

His hand comes up and he flips me the bird. What the fuck?

“Hey! That’s not very nice. It’s your own fucking fault you got your ass handed to you. Next time you get watch duty you
watch
, not fucking play games. You get me?”

Now he’s flipping me off with both hands.

“I could kick you in the balls right now and you wouldn’t see it coming. You know this, right?”

He reaches up to the bag of peas and peels back one corner. Seeing a fragment of his face, I’m not sure if he can see me with all the swelling. Okay, now I feel sorry for this guy. Walking into the kitchen, I grab another bag of peas and walk back to Chopper. “I’m gonna take off this bag and replace it with a new one, okay?” I hear him groan at my words. “Gonna take that as a yes, buddy.”

After switching the peas, I give him another tap on the shoulder. “I’m gonna get you some pain killers, okay?” Again with the fucking bird. “You know, you can use another hand signal. I’m trying to be nice here, okay?” Great, he’s flipping me off with both hands again. Asshole.

When I get back from grabbing a glass of water and a few aspirin, I gently lift the bag of peas from his face. “Open.” He opens his mouth a bit and I place two aspirin in there. Bringing the glass to his lips, he takes a few sips, pulls back and tries to swallow and takes a few more sips of water before he grunts again. I set the glass of water down and place the peas back on his face. “There, I hope they kick in fast.” He’s giving me my favorite one-finger salute of appreciation again.

Not that I care, but I’m still excited and he can’t see shit so I just tell him for my own benefit. “I got my
Property Of
patch inked just now. It’s on my neck in bright red.” A very happy sounding grunt comes from underneath the peas. And look! His hand is signaling an okay sign instead of flipping me off. Tapping his shoulder I leave him alone. He needs some sleep and I need to watch a documentary.

***Deeds***

I need my head in the game but my eyes are still locked to the picture on my phone. Fuck! I can’t make out what spot she got my mark on. It’s fucking frustrating. It should be a relief, knowing she finally got inked, but instead my dick is painfully hard and my mind can’t seem to stop thinking about which places might resemble the picture I have on my fucking phone.

Jesus. It’s just like the first fucking picture she sent me when we started texting. I could grab my dick and jerk off all over my fucking phone.

Like I said, it’s fucking frustrating. Know what else is frustrating? This fucked-up case we’re working on. We’re sitting in front of the Lepack house, but we’ve gotten word that the younger brother isn’t home. Since Lips saw him at the diner, he’s fallen off the face of the earth.

The boys in blue are standing by as Goffa, Broke, Depay, Muffler and myself suit up. This is the shit we trained for and our team is still as strong as ever. Even Chopper is a trained Seal, except he needs to sit this one out for obvious reasons. Shit, that fucker still manages to piss me off.

I look at Muffler, who’s strapping on his knives and ninja triangles as Broke slaps me on the back and says, “So, Lips got her ink?”

“Yeah.” Pulling out my phone, I look at the picture again, turning it slightly so my brother can see it.

“Damn! That’s fucking great. Congrats, man.” He slaps me on the back again. “So, where did she put it?”

Returning the phone into my pocket, I say, “She didn’t fucking tell me.”

The fucker laughs at me while he straps on his bulletproof vest.

“We ready for this shit?” Grunts come from all around me while I grab my gun and flip off the safety. “Let’s do this.”

We’ve been doing this shit ever since the day I was disqualified from MMA for fighting outside the ring. That was actually our first fucking case. The guy raped his own twelve year-old daughter and the government couldn’t do a fucking thing about it. That shit didn’t fly with me, so I kicked his ass, knowing I would lose everything I had worked for.

Right before I threw the punch that killed him, I looked into the eyes of my boss. A government official who was training me for the fight we had lined up the following week. One single nod and things changed for all of us.

With my dad gone and me taking over the MC, we had the perfect cover. It’s not like they close their eyes to what we do. It’s more like they hand us the cases that need to be solved using any means necessary. If the local law gets in our way, we step over that shit and keep moving.

Cases get solved and people get saved. It’s the results they look at and deal with the fucked up shit that comes with the territory. We are the epitome of the phrase “The end justifies the means.” We don’t have a fucking rank or label or whatever fucking name you wanna stick on us.
