‘Would you want me to lie for you?’ the girl asked mysteriously, staring hard at her mother.

‘Lie for me? What do you mean?’

‘Would you want me to lie for you? It’s a simple enough question.’

‘No, of course not.’

‘Earlier, I went round to see whether Tony was back.’

‘Yes, I know you did.’

‘I went round there after you’d gone out, Mum. After you’d gone to meet your old school friend for a drink.’

‘Oh?’

‘I looked through the lounge window.’

‘I…I’m not with you,’ Belinda said unsteadily. ‘You’re right, Tony does have other women.’

‘Oh, er…What’s happened? Has he left you?’

‘No, no. I looked through the window and saw Tony kneeling behind a naked woman who was on her hands and knees. They were both naked.’

‘Oh, Desiree.’ Belinda sighed. ‘I’m so sorry, love. I did try to warn you but…’

‘There was another man beneath the woman and a third man kneeling in front of her.’

?’ Belinda exclaimed, praying that the girl hadn’t recognised her. ‘Three men and a woman? But…It must have been really upsetting for you. I only wish that you’d listened to me.’

‘I couldn’t see who the woman was.’

‘Thank God…I mean…I can’t believe that Tony was with two other men and a woman. I knew that he had no morals, but to carry on like that?’

‘The woman had long black hair,’ Desiree announced, locking her dark eyes to her mother’s. ‘I couldn’t see her face because the man kneeling in front of her was in the way.’

‘So, I take it that you won’t be seeing Tony again?’

‘Tony has taught me everything I know about sex. You name it, and we’ve done it.’

‘Everything?’ Belinda said surprisedly. ‘But, I thought that you hadn’t…’

‘Everything you can imagine.’

‘I…I had no idea. So, surely you’re not willing to share him with other women?’

‘The way I look at it is this: I either share him or lose him. I’ll be seeing Tony again. I’ll be seeing him and…if I want to keep him, I’ll see him and his two male friends.’

‘What do you mean? Surely, you’re not thinking of allowing three men to…’

‘Share and share alike. Isn’t that right?’

‘I don’t know what you’re talking about.’

‘I’m talking about sharing Tony. Dad won’t find out, will he?’

‘Desiree, he’s bound to find out. He’ll ask me about it and…’

‘And you’ll lie for me.’

‘No, I won’t lie for you.’

‘I’ll have to lie for you, Mum.’

‘No, you won’t.’
