The end of the day had arrived, and Maurice headed home. When he got home, Bevelyn and the kids were waiting. “We’re going out to eat,” she said.

Maurice did not resist going out because of the children. If they were concerned, he was OK to do anything.

Maurice, Bevelyn, and the kids arrived at a local restaurant. They all sat down to eat when Nedia and her friend walked in the door. “Nedia! Nedia!” Bevelyn shouted to get her attention.

Maurice looked up cautiously, yet very eager to see Nedia. Hesitantly, Nedia walked over to the table with her friend holding her arm.

“Hey Bev, I didn’t expect to see you all here,” she said as she cut her eye at Maurice.

“I wanted to bring my family out to eat tonight. Why don’t you two sit here?” Bevelyn suggested.

Nedia refused, but her friend took the offer up. Bevelyn motioned to the waiter to bring more chairs for Nedia and her friend.

“Tobias,” the gentleman said to Maurice as he reached his hand out.

Maurice cleared his throat and reached out to shake his hand, “Maurice,” he said while firmly shaking his hand.

“Hi Ms. Dia!” the children said to Nedia. She hugged them both and gave each of them a kiss.

“Nedia is being so rude. Tobias, I’m Bevelyn, this is my wonderful husband Maurice, and these are our two children,” she said.

“It’s a pleasure to meet you all,” he said, smiling with his not-so-white teeth.

“So, Tobias, how long have you known Nedia?” Bevelyn asked.

Maurice did not budge, waiting to hear each reply he had.

“Only for about a couple of weeks,” he said.

The waiter came over to take everyone’s orders, and then Bevelyn went right back to her questioning. “So, are you all dating or just friends?” she asked.

“You’re being mighty nosy, aren’t you Bevelyn?” Nedia interjected.

“Yes, I am,” she said while laughing. “So are you, Tobias?”

Maurice still had not moved, waiting to hear his response.

“Well, at this time we’re just friends.” He turned to Nedia. “But from these few weeks, I would love to make it more. She’s an amazing woman.”

Bevelyn started to clap her hands, and Maurice started to feel uneasy in his seat.

Bevelyn put her hand on Maurice’s leg, “I think she may have a keeper, babe.”

“Oh really?” Maurice said as he glanced at Nedia and then down to his glass.

“Well, I know somebody has been keeping her happy. Did you get your hood fixed Nedia?” Bevelyn said while laughing.

Nedia started sipping some wine and nearly choked when Bevelyn asked about her hood. “Uh, no, I told you I don’t know what happened to my hood, Bevelyn, stop insinuating,” she said nervously.

Maurice cleared his throat once again and picked up his drink to camouflage his smile.

Dinner was over, and Bevelyn was still trying to interrogate Tobias. Nedia told her to stop asking questions and to tell her what’s been going on with her. “Well, I’m working on being a better wife to this beautiful, sexy man beside me. I have realized my mistakes and will do everything I can to make my marriage work. That’s why I suggested we eat here tonight, to bond as a family.” She leaned over and kissed Maurice on the lips.

“Family bond, Bev? Then why invite us to your table?” she asked.

“Nedia, you’re family too,” she replied.

“Well, that’s great, Bev, I’m happy for you, Maurice, and the kids. There’s nothing better than love and family,” she said.

“Oh don’t worry, Nedia, you may have your Prince Charming sitting right here at this table,” she said, referring to Tobias.

“I just may have,” Nedia said, referring to Maurice.

They all finished eating and were departing the restaurant when Bevelyn felt her mission was accomplished by having a dinner date with Maurice and the kids. She drove home, trying to have a family conversation. Maurice was only communicating with the kids until they dozed off.

“Do you hate me that much, Maurice?” she asked.

“Bevelyn, I do not hate you, you know that. I just don’t want to pretend we’re this big, happy family. That’s all.”

“Well, Maurice, I know a lot of this is my fault as well as yours, but I’m going to fix my wrongs and show you that we can be a happy family.”

Maurice looked out the window, wondering what Nedia was doing.

Tobias had just pulled up at Nedia’s house to drop her off for the night.

“I saw so much love tonight,” he said.

“You did? They’re a great couple and wonderful family.”

“I’m talking about between you and Maurice,” he said.

She was careful to not show the wrong expression in front of him. “What do you mean? He’s my adopted mother’s nephew, Tobias. He’s family.”

“Not your family, Nedia. I saw love and passion between you two. He did not say but one word to me: ‘Maurice.’”

“But—”

“No, no, it’s OK, but do not sit here and try to play me as stupid. You love that man, and as odd as it is, he loves you. Now, I don’t know what kind of mess you two are in together, but I’m not going anywhere,” he said, looking at her intensely. “Now I’m going to kiss you good night, and you’re going to do one of two things: kiss me good night and never talk to me again because it’s true and you don’t want a real relationship or kiss me good night and continue to talk to me because it’s true but you want someone real.”

Nedia sat there, trying to fight tears back.

“He’s married, Nedia. He’s only using you. I will be here when you need me because when you need him, he will have to be at home with his wife.”

He got out of his car, walked over to her door, and opened it. She stepped out, and he gave her a kiss.

She looked up at him, “I’ll talk to you tomorrow,” she said.

The day was going along well, and Maurice was about to go to lunch when Sheila spotted him and rushed toward him.

“You ready for me?” she asked.

“Ready when you are, let me grab my phone,” he said.

He went back to get his phone. Once he had it, he followed her to her house in his own car.

Maurice arrived at Sheila’s house, and she did not waste any time. She sat on the couch and pulled Maurice over by his pants. He laid his phone down beside her on the couch and started to unzip his pants. He wasn’t hard at all. “Wow, you’re big even when you are soft,” she said. She put his dick in her hand and said, “Oh man, I’ve been waiting on this dick to be in my mouth.”

She ran her hand up and down his dick to get it to start rising. As she was playing with his dick, his phone went off. He could see it was Bevelyn calling. Sheila spit on Maurice’s dick and started to jack him. The phone rang again. Maurice was not concerned because Bevelyn calls constantly when she wants to start drama. Sheila opened her mouth to put his dick in, and he reached down to the get the phone. As he put his code in the phone, Sheila placed his dick in her mouth. She took his dick out and spit on it again as he was reading the message. “On my way to the hospital, Marchaun is having a bad allergic reaction to something. You need to meet me at the emergency room!” Maurice pulled back as Sheila was about to start sucking him.

“Sheila, I’ve got to go, it’s my daughter,” he said while pulling up his pants.

Sheila became uncontrollably upset. “That’s it! I’m going to fix his ass. I can’t believe he keeps doing this shit to me,” she said to herself after he had run out.

Maurice arrived back at the hospital to find that his daughter had not been there long. She had already been taken to the back for evaluation. The doctors informed Maurice and Bevelyn that she was having a severe asthma attack.

“Asthma?” Bevelyn said to the doctor. “She doesn’t have asthma.”

“Yes, it appears she does. Do you or your husband have asthma?”

“No!” Maurice said quickly.

They were able to get the asthma under control and prescribed medication. Assured his daughter was OK, Maurice headed back to his department for the last hour of the day. As Bevelyn was leaving, she texted Joe to tell him that Marchaun was diagnosed with asthma and that she was OK.

As Maurice sat at his desk, he remembered he ran out on Shelia rather abruptly. He started to look for her in order to apologize.

“Sheila!” he said as he found her walking down a hallway. “I’m so sorry, my daughter was in the ED, but she’s OK now,” he said.

“Oh, it’s OK, Maurice, I understand.”

She was beginning to feel forgiving until he put his hand on her bicep and squeezed it before walking off. She was expecting him to mention finishing what he had started. She stared at him until he was no longer in sight. “His ass is really asking for it,” she said beneath her breath. She stormed down the hallway in the opposite direction.

Joe had left a message on Bevelyn’s voice mail. “Hey, Cup, call me when you get a chance. I’ve been dreaming about being with you at our spot.” She was lying around at home with nothing to do that day. The children were at school, and Maurice was at work. Bevelyn returned Joe’s call and agreed to meet him, although she was still uneasy about meeting at the field.

Bevelyn pulled up to the field where she and Joe had first engaged in intimacy. It was close to the end of spring, and flowers were all over the field. She stood admiring the beautiful blue, purple, yellow, and white flowers overlaying the ankle-high grass. She inhaled of deep breath of fresh air as Joe pulled up.
