“Whenever you are,” Madison responded, and glanced over at Debra Jean.

Smiling cryptically, Debra Jean bid them a goodnight too.

Alex walked up, wiping his hands on a towel; sat the towel aside and offered up his hand to Devin, who accepted the shake. “It seems I need to thank you again.” They released hands.

“Not a problem,” Devin replied. “Just sorry it happened.”

“Me too. Maybe next time things will run more smoothly.”

“Maybe so.” He stood and offered Madison his arm.

She took it and they walked out. Once outside, she glanced around. “I don’t see your car.”

“That’s because I didn’t drive it here. I knew you had yours. I thought that perhaps you’d give me a lift.” He grinned hugely.

“Like you need one. I know you can get around very well without a car.”

“That I can,” he said, and then, taking her key that she handed over, he unlocked her door for her and held it open while she slid in. Then he zipped around to the other side and got in. He handed her the key and she started the car and they pulled out of the lot.

He kept his eyes on her as she drove. She finally had to ask. “Is there something wrong with me?”

“No, Madison. Absolutely nothing. I just love looking at you. Your profile is perfect…Does it bother you that I’m staring?”

“Makes me feel a little strange. No one has ever stared at me like you do before.”

“That’s because no one else ever appreciated you the way I do. No one else ever saw the rare, unique beauty in you that I do.”

“I’ve never really thought of myself as beautiful.”

“You should. And if you should decide to join me…as my mate, you will be even more beautiful after I turn you.”

She shivered, and it wasn’t from the cold. It was fear mixed with thrill. She wanted him. Yet, he terrified her sometimes.

“You need never fear me, Madison,” he said, knowing her thoughts. “I’ve told you before. You are Mattie’s granddaughter. Because of that alone, I would never harm you. But I also care for you deeply. Also, for that reason, I would never harm you.”

She knew he spoke the truth. His words of assurance quieted her fears somewhat. She nodded and gave him a gentle smile.

“Well, we’re almost there,” he said. “Why don’t you go ahead and park in your drive?”

“Okay.”

She did as he said, drove past his cabin and Chuck’s, where she noticed the lights were definitely out, and then turned in her drive. He quickly got out and zipped around to get the door for her.

“Always the gentleman,” she noted.

“Where you’re concerned, my sweet.” There was something in his eyes. That thirsty look again.

“You haven’t fed, have you?”

“You’re very astute.” He closed the door for her.

She headed for the porch, but at once he was in front of her, eyes glowing. With no doubts as to what he wanted, she leaned back against her car door. Gently, he lifted her hair from her neck; this time with no collar in the way. Though he was audibly silent, his facial expressions spoke very clearly – He desired her in more ways than one.

“If you’re thirsty, then what are you waiting for?”

“I want to cherish each and every single moment with you, Madison.” He leaned in and brushed his lips down her neck, coming to rest at the nape, where he kissed her with amazing tenderness, giving her goose bumps all over; his exquisite touch sent shivers through her being. He drew his head back and fixed his gaze on her. “I do so want to make love to you, my sweet.”

“What are you waiting for?” she breathed, stirred to the point of losing all reason.

With both hands he reached up and smoothed her hair away from her forehead and kissed her there. Thoughtfully, and fervently he kissed each temple, then the tip of her nose, her chin, each cheek, and then her neck just over her Adam’s apple. Each kiss set her more and more on fire.

She gasped in blissful desire, knowing full well he was perfectly capable of driving her mad with each touch.

Then he took both her hands and placed her palms together, holding them between his own, brought them to his lips, kissing each, while his eyes locked on hers. Then he released her hands and stepped back momentarily, long enough to remove his blazer and toss it on top of her car. He pulled his turtleneck over his head and tossed it aside too.

For the first time, she saw his naked, remarkable chest, which had a bluish, luminous glow in the light of the full moon. His lean muscles rippled when he moved. She couldn’t help herself – had never seen anything so beautiful – reached out her hands and placed her palms flat on his smooth, radiant flesh. “Gawd!”

There was a low rumbling in his chest, and he smiled with glowing eyes. “Glad you like.” He gently lifted up her arms and took hold of her little top and pulled it over her head. His eyes instantly fell to her black, strapless bra. He smiled alluringly. Then he reached behind her and unhooked her bra and tossed it on top of her car too, immediately drinking in her firm, young breasts. A slow lingering grin perked the corners of his lips.

He stood back from her, eyes once more locked into hers, while he removed his belt, unsnapped his jeans and stepped out of his clothes.

Then, as he stood there with his naked body shimmering in the moonlight, he assisted her in removing the rest of hers.

At once, he drew her into his arms, and as her breasts met his hard chest, she let out a cry of delight. He pressed himself up to her.

“Oh gawd!”

Another gentle rumbling.

He kissed her fully and her response was eager. And while he kissed her, he took her without any warning. “Oh gawd!” she cried out with a start, visibly shaken.

He sniggered, and with his hands on her buttocks, he firmly but gently pressed her in to him. Each movement, though slow, strategic.

The next thing she knew they were levitating, but he held her tight, as he skillfully made love to her. He drew back his head and fixed his eyes on hers; his mesmerizing gaze penetrating deep into her thoughts.

She was completely lost in him; totally consumed by his electrifying touch. There never had been and never would be anyone else who could make love like he. This she fully understood. Caught up in passion blazing out of control, she heard someone whimpering like a puppy and realized it was herself. He simply smiled and continued making love to her.

Wanting nothing more than to be one with him, she crooned in his arms. He was a powerful, irresistible magnet she could not pull away from. And she didn’t want to.

Then, having kept his own passion at bay for her sake, just as she reached her peak, he let himself loose, also biting into her neck and drinking from her while they exploded together in unbound ecstasy.

They trembled together for several minutes, and he stopped drinking short of killing her. Still holding her firmly, he kissed her and asked her if she was okay. Though greatly weakened, she smiled happily and assured him that she was.

Holding her with one arm, he ever so carefully and tenderly pushed stray hairs away from her face, and proceeded to kiss her forehead in the most loving way. Then he drew back and spoke, “I drank a lot of your blood, my sweet. Your turn.” He bit into his wrist and held it to her mouth, where she now had the hang of it very well and drank eagerly. Deciding she’d had enough, he took back his wrist, an eyebrow hiked. “Thank you,” he said affectionately.

“For what?” she asked, searching those awesome eyes with her own.

“For letting me make love to you. It was the first sex I’ve had with meaning in a very long time. It is only really gratifying when it is done with someone you care about and who cares about you.”

“Oh gawd…Is that what it was? Sex?” she breathed. “It was the most incredible experience I’ve ever had in my entire life.” She realized then that he wasn’t inside her anymore and was amazed at how smoothly he could do things.

“I truly hope you will continue to feel that way.” He floated them back down to the ground.

“How can you even doubt me?”

“I still want to make sure you no longer love Chuck before we take this all the way.”

“But I thought we just went all the way?”

“I mean…Turn you, Madison. You are ready to be turned. I have been working up to it, but I won’t take the final steps unless I know you are really ready.”

“I’m ready, Devin!”

“We’ll see, my sweet.” He gathered up her clothes and handed them to her, and dressed himself before she could even get her pants on. “Damn! You’re fast!”

He chuckled and helped her finish dressing. Afterwards, he suggested she come and lie with him in his basement, so she would get a feel of what it would be like to share a bed with him.

“Okay…Can I grab some old jeans and a sweatshirt first? I ‘d like to take a shower.”

“Of course…We can shower together,” he suggested with a naughty smile.

Madison couldn’t believe her eyes as she stepped down the long stair case and into the elegant room of black walls decorated in crimson. Heavy drapes hung on the wall opposite the king size bed, but there was no real window behind them. Merely a large painting of a window, that appeared to open up to a scene of Paris, France with the Eifel Tower looming in the distance.

“It’s fabulous!” she remarked, studying him inquisitively. “Why Paris?”

“I lived there for almost a hundred years after my transition. My sire was from there.”

“Your sire?”

“My maker, Madison. When I turn you…
If
I turn you…I will be your sire.”

“Oh! I didn’t know there was a name for it.” She focused on the painting again and noticed the initials at the bottom right hand corner: DK. “You did this mural?”

“I did.”

“We do have something in common. I’m an artist too!”

His face revealed delight. “Wonderful! Something else we can enjoy together.” Then he noticed the look on her face. “What, my sweet?”

“I probably shouldn’t say anything, but Chuck paints too.”

Apparently, this did not surprise him. “I know…I’ve been in his store a few times. I have admired his painting of the wolves on more than one occasion.”

“Good. Then it’s not news to you.”

He cupped her chin in his hand, gazing down at her over his nose. “Very little is. Something you will soon learn.” He kissed the tip of her nose. “Don’t worry. I am not jealous of Chuck Smith, Madison. I have been around much too long to let jealousy rule me.”

“You mean to tell me you’re not jealous at all?”

“Not at all. I will be disappointed, even
very
sad, if you choose him. But your choice is your right. I can’t and won’t hold it against you.”

“Damn! I’m not sure I could be that open-minded.”

“I have seen many a life destroyed over jealousy. Been guilty of it myself in the past. I paid the price and lost a lovely lady’s love because of it. Only to later learn that there had been no reason for me to be jealous. She loved only me. But that was a couple of hundred years ago. Still, I will not let it happen again…Not my style.”

She still had her clothes in her arms. “Can I take that shower now?”

“Absolutely. In fact, I have a shower down here, bathroom behind the door there,” he said, indicating with a nod to the far side of the room to a closed door, also painted crimson. “You can leave your clothes on the bed here or dress in the bathroom. I want you to be at home here, Madison. And as I mentioned, we can shower together, if you’d like?”

She responded with a smile and shook her head yes.

“Excellent.” He wasted not a second in removing his clothes again, and helped her with hers. A minute later they were in the shower, enjoying the warm spray on their bodies.

There was plenty of room. It was the biggest shower she had ever been in. Obviously, he had designed it, as well as the rest of the cabin.

He had an assortment of body washes and clothes. Told her to take her pick. She selected a lavender body wash. It had never been opened. He confessed then that he had just purchased them, hoping she would be showering with him soon.

“Really?”

“Really,” he replied. Then he offered to soap her back for her, which he did, very slowly and methodically, taking his time, and the next thing she knew his lips were caressing her neck. She sighed wantonly, the fire of desire reignited, and he wrapped his arms around her from behind and quickly hoisted her off the floor, claiming her once more.

“Oh Gawd!” she gasped. She hadn’t expected him so soon. Still holding her in his powerful arms, he let loose of the wash cloth, allowing it to drop to the floor, and cupped his hands over her breasts, gently holding them while he made love to her. She leaned her head back and his lips found her neck and he fed from her again.

His movements were so perfectly timed, so amazingly smooth, so erotic, she thought she would burst into flames. Then he released his bite on her neck, freed her from behind, swung her around and, facing her, claimed her again; this time, feeding her his blood, as they once more exploded their pleasure together. He held her quivering body tight until they were both completely finished. He pulled back and with a very disarming smile stated,
“Now
we can finish our shower.”

Her response was a very satisfied grin.

After their shower, he inquired as to whether she liked Moby Dick or something else, and she replied that she had read it in high school and liked it. He told her, laughing lightly, that he had begun to read it again, for about the hundredth time and asked if she would like him to read it to her. She thought it a splendid idea. They settled down on his big bed and he cradled her in one arm and held the book with the other and read to her until she fell asleep. Dawn was breaking, so he set the book aside on his nightstand, gently kissed her cheek, turned over and went to sleep too.

Madison awoke at noon and saw that Devin was asleep. She went to get out of bed, but his arm was suddenly there, pulling her back to him.

“I thought you were sleeping.”

“I was. But I know everything that’s going on regardless. And that is especially so with you, my sweet. For now, we are very strongly connected, even though I haven’t finished turning you.”
