“So no food?” he asked lightly when she let him breathe again. He ran his hands down to her butt and pulled her close. Even if she did want dinner he wasn’t sure he could let her go now. This hunger that he felt whenever he touched her seemed to grow stronger every time and it made him feel pretty damned desperate too.

“I can get food anywhere from anyone, I can get conversation and friendship from a lot of people. Give me what I can only get from you.” She started unbuttoning his shirt.

There was something in her words, in her tone, that nagged at the back of his mind. But once she started opening his fly he forgot all about it.

Her hands were hot and insistent as they pushed his jeans and underwear out of the way. The moment she took his cock in her hands, he groaned. “Bed?” he asked gruffly, his hands cupping and teasing her breasts.

“Floor,” she said.

He managed to step her through the doorway to the living room, and the carpet, before she tugged him to the floor.

“Hard and fast,” she panted. “I need you.”

There was something in her eyes, something that pulled at him, made him want to give her everything, that made him nod. “You got it, darlin’. Whatever you want.” Then he grabbed her hips and flipped her to her stomach. “Hard and fast. Make you scream.”

“God yes,” she breathed, bracing her arms.

He ran his hands over the sweet curves of her hips and ass, then reached to knock her knees apart. “Open up.”

She complied, moaning slightly as she did, arching her back.

“I don’t think I’ve ever seen you quite like this,” he said huskily, cupping one breast, the hard tip setting the nerve endings in his palm tingling. Then he ran the pads of his fingers over her ribs and the soft skin of her stomach then slid over her mound. “You want me just to take you? Just move in and take over?”

Yes
,” she groaned. She pressed back toward him, her butt against his stomach. “Take me, Luke.”

“You’re all mine,” he reminded her, slipping his middle finger into her hot wet folds. “When you beg for this it will always be me. When you cry out a name when you come it will always be mine.”

“Yes,” she breathed. “Always.”

She was ready. She was beyond ready. And knowing that he could have her, every night, over and over, forever, was enough to make him thrust hard and deep.

“Luke,” she moaned. She widened her knees even farther, taking him as deep as he could go.

He fought to catch his breath. She was incredible and he knew that he would always give her anything and everything he could. Having her want him, having her need him, was more than he’d ever imagined.

He pulled back, then thrust again. Her body pulled on his, unwilling to let him go, massaging and drawing on him whenever he tried to withdraw. The tension around his length was heaven, the friction amazing and he pumped into her, hoping she could feel the heat and pressure he felt.

“Kat, Kat,” he panted. He ran his hands up her back and pushed her forward, her chest toward the carpet, sinking even deeper. “This is so. Damned. Good.”

She was making beautiful gasping, moaning sounds and he could feel her tightening even further around him.

He found her clit and circled, wanting to bring her up and over the edge of release but it only took one stroke of his finger and she came apart. And she did cry his name.

Luke continued to thrust, his hips moving, his cock absorbing every ripple of her orgasm until suddenly he shot over the edge too. Even as his climax swept over him, he couldn’t stop moving within her and he pumped for another minute after his orgasm had quieted.

Finally he withdrew and slumped forward to the carpet, one arm around her waist, pulling her up against him to lie side by side.

They just breathed for several minutes.

When she finally wiggled in his arms, he loosened his hold and she turned to face him.

“Is it just me or is sex with you in Justice even better than in the RV?”

He grinned. “I’m definitely not complaining.”

She kissed him, then pushed to her feet. “Okay, well, I’ll see you.”

“What?” He stood as well. “You’re not staying?”

Something flickered in her eyes just before she shrugged. “I have to be in Alliance at six tomorrow.”

“Six a.m.?” he asked.

“Yeah. And I don’t know when I’ll get home.”

He tipped her chin up so she had to look at him. “What happened?”

“We met. He thinks I need to spend more time in Alliance. I need more experience.”

Luke frowned. He knew there was something she wasn’t telling him. “Kat, what happened?”

“Just…we’re working some things out.”

“How’s Tom?”

Her eyes clouded. “Not good. Things are just…complicated. So I should get home so I can get up and at it tomorrow.”

“Stay here. You can get up and leave from here.” Not only did he want her in his arms all night—just a few days of it on the road and he was addicted—but he sensed that she needed him. He loved that in a way, but he wasn’t sure what to do.

She was watching him. “I want to,” she admitted. “I really do. This is so good. This is what I’ve wanted for so long.” She put her hand against his cheek. “I just…”

“Stay. We’ll go over and get some more clothes and stuff for you and then you’ll stay here.”

“Stay?”

Stay.
With that word a warmth spread through him like he’d taken a shot of whiskey. “Stay. For good. Move in.”

Her eyes got wide. “What?”

“Move in. Live with me.”

She took a deep breath. “Are you serious?”

“Of course. Why not?” It was perfect. “We both want it. There’s no reason not to. Move in.”

She pulled her bottom lip between her teeth. “Things might be a little crazy with work for the next…few weeks.”

That little pause made him frown. “That’s okay. We’ll figure it out.”

“You sure?”

“Kat, I want you. Forever. For good. All the time. We’ll figure the bumps out.”

She looked sad for just a moment before she covered it. “Okay.”

He didn’t like that flicker of hesitation or whatever it was either. Every protective instinct was coming awake. But he didn’t understand it. He needed to get her in his house, in his life fully, their routines and dirty laundry all mixing together, and he was sure he could take care of her—of it—whatever it was. She was his now and nothing was going to change that.

“Let’s get you moved in,” he said decisively heading for the door. Something in him drove him to want this
now
. Before anything could happen to mess it up.

“Luke, wait—”

“No waiting. Let’s do this.” He jerked open the door.

“Maybe putting some clothes on would be good,” she called as he reached for the screen door.

He looked down, then back at her.

“Oh, right,” he said with a sheepish grin. “But clothes are the only thing I’m taking time for.”

“So, let me get this straight,” Marc said, setting down his whisk and leaning his hands on the countertop. “You’re madly in love with Kat, you’re sure she feels the same way, you’re having nearly constant sex with her and you’re
upset
about this?”

“Only about the sex part.” Luke sighed and braced his hands on the counter behind him, leaning back. He sounded like an idiot. He felt like one too. But it was true. He was upset that he was getting so much sex from Kat.

“You’re going to have to talk slow and use small words,” Marc said. “’Cuz I don’t get it.”

“It’s been a month since we got home and moved in together. But I barely see her,” Luke started. “She’s in Alliance all the time. When she does come home she’s exhausted. All she wants to do is have sex. She doesn’t want to talk, to come here, to just…be.”

“And you want to just…be?” Marc asked.

Luke scowled at him. “I thought you, of all people, would understand.”

“What’s that mean? I like sex. I
love
sex.”

“You never just want to sit and watch TV? Have dinner and talk? Hang out at a barbecue?”

Marc chuckled and started whisking again. “Yeah, I was just giving you a hard time. But it’s not
bad
that she wants to have sex a lot, is it?”

Luke shifted. “It’s just that…I think she’s using it to distract me.”

Marc grinned at him. “And it’s working?”

“Well, yeah.” He was a human male after all.

“What’s she distracting you from?”

“Whatever’s really going on.”

Marc looked up from pouring whatever he’d been stirring into a pan. “What’s really going on?”

“I don’t know,” Luke said impatiently. “I’ve been distracted.”

Marc laughed at that. “Right. Sorry. What do you
think
is going on?”

“It’s something with work.”

“I can imagine she’s a little stressed. Tom Martin is still out in Denver. Dr. Davidson is still covering the clinic here. I heard the licensure board decided she was fine though.”

Yeah, Luke had heard that to. From Sabrina, not Kat. “But she won’t tell me about it. The last time I brought it up she…” He trailed off, realizing that he didn’t want to share every one of these details.

“She…distracted you?” Marc offered.

With whipped cream and her magical mouth.

He cleared his throat. “Anyway, she won’t tell me about it. Claims there’s nothing to talk about. She won’t let me help her.”

Marc bent to push the pan into the oven. “And you have to constantly be helping someone,” he muttered.

“Really? Judgment from the man who
forced
the woman he loved onto an airplane to Nashville?”

“I get it. I do,” Marc said as he straightened—and failed to acknowledge or deny his crazy behavior when it came to Sabrina before they figured out how to be together. “You want her happy. You want her to have everything she wants. And you want her to lean on you.”

Luke nodded. “Yes. Exactly. How do I do that?”

“Since you want to see more of her, I guess forcing her on an airplane would defeat what you’re going for.”

“Right,” Luke said dryly.

“I think you need to talk to her. Make her listen. Fully clothed. Maybe someplace where she can’t seduce you.”

The truth was that Kat could probably seduce him in the middle of a church sanctuary.

“Okay.”

“Then don’t let her leave until you’ve convinced her that she can tell you anything and you have the truth.”

An hour and forty minutes later, Luke was sitting in the waiting room of the Alliance Medical Partners clinic flipping through a
Cosmo
magazine from 2009. Still, he couldn’t argue with the seven ways to seduce a man outdoors and the position-by-position guide to “The Best Sex of Your Life” seemed timeless.

The receptionist, Jill, had assured him that Kat was finishing with her last patient when he’d arrived forty minutes ago, but he was waiting. No matter how long it took.

He was reviewing position number three, making sure he had all the details, when Kat finally emerged. He watched her for a moment before she saw him. She looked exhausted. And pissed off.

What
was going on?

It also hit him that he missed her. He’d seen her every night. He’d made love to her every night. Yet he missed her.

He hadn’t seen her laugh, hadn’t really talked to her, in a month. It was driving him crazy.

“Kat.”

She looked up from rummaging in her purse. “Luke?” She looked stunned for just a second, then her face lit up and she practically launched herself at him. “What are you doing here?”

He wrapped his arms around her, loving that he could make her so obviously happy just by showing up. “Can’t stay away from you.”

She pulled back to look up at him, her expression a combination of affection and amusement. “I know how you feel.” Then something mischievous flickered in her eyes and she glanced around. The waiting area was deserted of patients as it was nearly an hour past closing time. The front office staff had also left for the day. She took his hand. “Come here.”

She pulled him through a door just behind the potted tree. The restroom.

“Kat, I…”

“Oh, shut up and do me already,” she said with a light laugh as she started unbuttoning her shirt.

He wanted her. He always wanted her.

But he wanted more than this. And he suspected she did to.

“Stop.” He grabbed her hands and held them in his, trying to get her to look at him.

She did. “What’s wrong?”

“I came to take you to dinner. Maybe a movie.”

“You came…to take me to dinner?” she repeated, looking genuinely confused. “Why?”

“I’ve never really taken you on a date. And I want to spend time with you, talk.”

“I have to be here really early tomorrow. And I have some research tonight—”

“I brought the RV,” he said. “We’ll stay here tonight. You won’t have the long drive tonight or tomorrow. I want the two hours I just saved you.”
